Deicide Gearing Up For New Album

Earache Records head honcho Digby Pearson has revealed that DEICIDE has finished demoing most of the material that will appear on the group's next album, tentatively due in early 2008. "Touring as been curtailed as Glen [Benton, bass/vocals] has some legal issues pending BUT that has given the main writer — Steve Asheim [drums] — plenty of time to get creative," Digby said. "Both Jack Owen [guitar; ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE] and Steve have been working on demo-ing some more 'rock- based' projects and Ralph [Santolla; guitar] was ousted during the turmoil, but he quickly resurfaced as OBITUARY's guitarist.
Pearson continued, "DEICIDE DID look to be going nowhere — BUT — incredibly, out of the blue, we just received eight new DEICIDE songs in demo form, and they are incredible, like 'The Stench of Redemption' [2006] material but now even faster, if such a thing is possible. The band — Glen, Jack, Steve and probably Dave Suzuki [of VITAL REMAINS] (ex-guitarist Ralph Santolla might just appear as guest soloist?) will more than likely enter Morrisound Recording in September to record the new album. Earache will officially announce its release nearer the time, probably in stores around January 2008.
"As ever with DEICIDE, all information is subject to change."
"The Stench of Redemption" was released in August 2006 via Earache Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Scars of the Crucifix" was recorded at Morrisound in Tampa, Florida and marked the first DEICIDE recording following the departure of the Hoffman brothers.
DEICIDE released a DVD, "Doomsday L.A.", on February 6, 2007 via Earache. The set, which was filmed using multiple cameras on November 10, 2006 at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, features the group's most recent lineup of Glen Benton (bass, vocals), Steve Asheim (drums), Jack Owen (guitar; ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) and Santolla. The bonus material incorporates exclusive interviews and promo videos, including the recent "Homage for Satan" clip.

The only good thing to have surfaced as of late with Glen Benton is Jack Owen, any Death band would be blessed to have his creativity behind them! Me thinks that once the brothers of Deicide had up and fooked off, Deicide was destined to die... However, Glen managed to pull the impossible and scoop the legend (Jack) to revive his little scene and continue with a new following of people!

I second that, SoR was an album totally out of the blue, it totally blindsided me how good a Deicide album could be. I hope they get Santolla back, the man's a freaking genius - Anyone else have Obituary's new album? It kills.
Now Playing: Exodus - "Objection Overuled"

and you enjoy Children of Bodom, your opinion is invalid.
I actually can't listen to Deicide without laughing to be honest.
I first heard these guys in the early 90's...
Sneaking a peek at my uncles metal albums while he was away. The vocals to the first and second album had me in stitches...I was 11 or so...Had never heard anything like it and I was a raging Metallica/Megadeth fan at this point to boot. Never could get into these guys but their importance can not be overstated.
Now Playing: Pig Destroyer - "The Machete Twins"

RM? Have you heard Stench of Redemption? It's hard to describe just how different the sound is, has some really interesting neoclassical stuff going on. I've never really been a Deicide fan but SoR is hard to put down. And the vocals sound ever slightly less ridiculous, though they still use alot of the duel vocals. The solo's are mindblowing! I suggest listen to "Death To Jesus" (haha, some things haven't changed).
Now Playing: Deicide! - "Death To Jesus"

well, i must say that, when i've first heard deicide i was quite confused, and it wasn't funny at all. listening more their music helped me to understand how much they mean to death metal scene, but not just death metal scene because of the instrumental quality ignoring the lyrics. just look at it as a f***in "metal", not satanism. satan as god is their aspect and vision and and there should be no discussions about that, they have rights on such opinions. on the other hand their outstanding solos, riffs and virtuosity in performing deserve a respect. growling 20 songs isn't easy at all plus playing a bass guitar along, that's why i admire to glen benton, that's the aspect from which you should look at their music.
anyways, looking forward to the new stuff, deicide never dies
