There later albums aren't supposed to be metal, their first 2 were. So take the time to actually listen to all their albums first, before you say anything, and there's always going to be a heavier band, no one gives a f***. Avenged Sevenfold are an extremley talented band and you should respect that, and you can't say sh** untill you can play better.

I don't think Avenged Sevenfold claims they are the poser metal people you all are judging them to be. It doesn't matter what they are. They are some of the most talented musicians around. I don't really give a rats a$$ if they changed their style. They are still immensely talented and if you don't like them that is your own problem. And for anyone who thinks they aren't talented why dont you pick up a guitar or sit on a drum set. Sinister Gates may be the best guitarest since Dimebag. And The Rev may be the greatest drummer ever. I wish i could play the drums half as good as he could. But what do I know, I'm just a kid who likes their music and who spends my time listening to sh** without judging it. I don't like all bands but at least i don't bad mouth them on the net. Grow the &%@$ up...

-Again, Yngwie Malmsteen (one listen to him will show you how 'talented' Sinister Gates is in comparison) is talented as hell but does that mean his music is great? (Well some is, some is definately not). Talent means nothing without songwriting ability.

Agreed with Cynic. Nickmcslick, I really hope that you don't actually believe that those guys are the best things out there. As far as drummers are concerned, I would say that Brann from Mastodon might be one of the best out there. Obviously Jordison is right there as well. Joey is a talented drummer, probably the most, but he doesn't always put out the best music. I would even say the drummer from AILD is a great technical drummer as well.
Vengeance and Gates are decent guitarists. Their sweeping technique isn't bad, but there are so many talented guitarists out there that comparing them to Dime was a huge stretch for me. I'd disagree and say that you'd have to look at guys like Vai, Satriani, Alexi from Bodom, Yngwie and the list goes on.
To be honest, their stuff isn't that hard to play. I do play guitar and their stuff is very easy to pick up. Stuff like The Absence is a way more difficult and I think those guys can play the lights out. I'm not being close minded because I do own their records, and I have given them a listen, but when they put out albums called "City of Evil" and have the hard partying image that they do, but their music is so watered down compared to their persona, I have to knock them for putting out a fake image. They are saying one thing, and doing another.

Nile and Behemoth rock my socks. Not my favorite bands by any stretch but enjoyable nonetheless.
A7X feels like maggots crawling beneath the tissue of my outer ear. Painful and Disturbing.

crazy is right... avenged sevenfold doesn't run around saying "We are heavy fu##ing metal!" the fans and other people do. Regardless, some of their songs on the City of Evil are metal anyways. ALL the singles on the new CD aren't heavy at all. So to say they are a poser metal band juding by their singles is wrong. ALL the singles IMO are their weakest songs. Yes, Bat Country is my least favorite song. Listen to the Wicked End or Sidewinder and you'll see that they are actually quite talented songwriters. They are also "heavier" than their singles as well. But please don't flame me saying those songs are still p***y because I know their not HEAVY, I'm just saying they are HEAVIER. Just so everyone knows too, I'm not a fu#@ing emo kid, I'm a huge metal head and love Nile, Opeth, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom and many other metal acts, mainly death metal.
Basically my points are A7X is heavy metal, but they do have some "heavier songs" on CoE.
Their singles are their weakest songs and show off the least of their abilities.
Lastly, all of A7X fans aren't poser metal fans or emo kids, there are SOME fans that like really heavy stuff, and think A7X is a breath of fresh air from listening to death metal all day everyday. Alright thanks.

Heretic, screw you. You may not like those bands, but to call them not Metal is just stupid. Those are some of the heavier bands out there, all more so than any of the other bands you listed. All of which, i might add, are either metalcore, or something weaker, with the exception of LoG, whom I think needs a different category in between Core and Conventional Metal to describe them accurately. Not bashing core or anything, my playlist includes all those bands, Nile to A7X, but you cant bash real metal and then mislabel it's watered down cousins as it's namesake.
(Despite having a few A7X songs on my computer, i still think they are one of the worst modern bands in existence)
