Deicide Part Ways With Guitarist Ralph Santolla

Florida-based death metallers DEICIDE have parted ways with guitarist Ralph Santolla. A replacement axeman has not yet been announced.
Santolla (ex-DEATH, ICED EARTH) told BLABBERMOUTH.NET last month that he was looking to join a new band "in any genre of metal." "I like to keep busy writing, recording and touring," Santolla said. "Down time drives me nuts. Anyone looking for a guitarist can contact me at ralphsantolla@hotmail.com."
Santolla appears on DEICIDE's latest CD, "The Stench of Redemption", which was released in August via Earache Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Scars of the Crucifix" was recorded at Morrisound in Tampa, Florida and marks the first recording with the new DEICIDE lineup following the departure of the Hoffman brothers.
DEICIDE released a DVD, "Doomsday L.A.", on February 6, 2007 via Earache. The set, which was filmed using multiple cameras on November 10, 2006 at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, features the group's new lineup of Glen Benton (bass, vocals), Steve Asheim (drums), Jack Owen (guitar; ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) and Santolla. The bonus material incorporates exclusive interviews and promo videos, including the recent "Homage for Satan" clip.

Bethcha that Glen didn't make life too easy for him, since Ralph, after all, is a Catholic. THen again, the music rocks due to his input, so does it really matter. Before anyone starts ripping on this, I'm going to kill it where it stands..Chuck (from legandary death metallers Death) said 'religion's a personal thing, but not necessarily wrong. I believe in karma'. Respect the talent people, respect. Glen should get it togetehr with Deicide and stop going like he is with vital remains. Jack will be next, I guarantee it.

Stench is pretty strong..heh..
Deicide was the first ever "deathmetal" band that I had ever heard (their first 2 albums) and I was probably 9-10 at the time. I remember laughing endlessly the first time I heard Glens vocals, had never anything like it up to that point. I still have trouble listening to them without chuckling....First impressions are everything.

Yeah... Bentons vocals have always been a bit on the comical side, but TSoR is a great return for them, hell I prefer it over Legion (the only other Deicide album I've really enjoyed). I guess I was pretty lucky then, my first impressions of death metal were from Obituary and the legendary unique growl of John Tardy.
Now Playing: Ripped - "Vessel"
