Swallow the Sun = quality doom metal, w/ growled vocals.
Insomnium = melodic death metal, but no pop crap, as far as I know.
I missed Scar Symmetry on the DT tour so I don't know what to expect from them, but due to the other 2 bands (and of course Katatonia) I'm really excited about this tour.

I'll check out those two, thanks #3. The sound was terrible for them when I saw Scar Symmetry, too. I saw them here in NYC and it was at a new venue here that has absolutely terrible sound. It somehow improved for The Haunted and Dark Tranquillity but was pretty bad during Scar Symmetry and Into Eternity (even though Into Eternity played through it and was as tight and energetic as they normally are, awesome band - especially live). But anyway, the Scar Symmetry albums (particularly their newer one) seem really produced - a lot of it seems unnatural and studio produced and I think it became really obvious once I saw them live. I mean, it could have been the sound in that sh**ty old movie theater, but I think that even if they had awesome sound that night I still would have been bored and disinterested. If you're into catchy melodic death metal with some nice clean and growled vocals, then they are a good band for you to check out - but I'm personally not a fan.

Looking forward to the return of Katatonia. Scar Symmetry - not so much. I saw them on the Dark Tranquillity tour and they were very boring, in my opinion. They've got one catchy song and the rest of their songs sound like total filler. Don't know these other two bands, but if they aren't more cheesy melodic-death-pop, I'll give them a try.
