Tool Extends Current North American Tour

TOOL keeps tacking shows onto its current North American tour, which now extends into mid-July. According to LiveDaily.com, the quartet has added concerts in Montreal; Boston; Portland, Maine; Fort Worth, Texas and others to its schedule. The trek, which began in late April with two nights in Las Vegas, was postponed from March after drummer Danny Carey tore his bicep in an accident at home.
The band has also booked another festival date, at Milwaukee's Summerfest, to add to its mid-June appearance at Tennessee's Bonnaroo event. Danny Carey told Launch that TOOL approaches festivals differently from its own shows. "It's this whole different vibe when you play at a festival," he said. "People have already had to go through so much, you know, especially if you're headlining. By the time you're on, you know, you don't wanna just drive them into the ground, you know. I think in those cases less is more, so we're happy just to play more rocking, straight ahead songs and not get too tedious 'cause it's not that kind of an environment. We'll save that for our own shows."
TOOL plays Tuesday night (May 8) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Singer Maynard James Keenan recently wrote at his MySpace page that he has been working on new music from his side project PUSCIFER and hopes to release its first album in October.
TOOL is touring behind its fourth full-length studio album, "10,000 Days".
Newly added TOOL tour dates:
May 16 - Fort Worth, TX - Convention Center
Jul. 01 - Cincinnati, OH - US Bank Arena
Jul. 03 - Clarkston, MI - DTE Energy Music Theatre
Jul. 04 - Milwaukee, WI - Summerfest
Jul. 09 - Hamilton, ONT - Copps Coliseum
Jul. 10 - Montreal, QUE - Bell Centre
Jul. 12 - Boston, MA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
Jul. 13 - Portland, ME - Cumberland Civic Center

narrow minded people onnoy the sh1t out of me. appreciate the bands for who they are and the music they play. if they're on this site, they must have gotten through to somebody. personally i love every album that tool has put out, and i'm p***ed that I won't be home to see them. but back to what i was saying, i mean it could be worse. they could be a (c)rap group...

Hell yeah! I can finally see them then!
I simply cannot believe all the Tool haters I have encountered. Tool is a perfect band...not only do the songs sound amazing, but they have deep meanings.
My advice, try playing Tool songs with your band if you have one. You'll discover things you could not discover any other way. Just the way the put songs together...it's really amazing. Tool is one of my favorite bands.

I dont get it, every single controversial album by every band i like, those albums tend to be my favorites, like St.Anger, i loved that album. 10,000 days i think was incredibly well done, lyrics, guitar, bass, and i think in songs like The Pot, and Jambi, Maynard helps prove why he's one of the best singers out there. I mean freaking read the lyrics, they are amazing, Rosetta stoned, and Right in Two might be some of there best yet. But everyones opinion is different, and i suppose im not your typical listener either.

but you know for a "underground" metal website, a lot of people here have very mainstream views... even if most of the people dont like a lot of nu-metal and other mainstream genres, its mostly mainstream dumb a$$ ideas. Tools sux, metallica sux now, hardcore sux, Korn doesnt only suck now... but always did(now that they are against them), Black metal is the best, thrash is the best, black sabbath is the best band in the world, or like Rob Zombie said, they wrote everything, if you just speed it up or slow it down it makes every single song written after.

Mainstream views? What you really mean is that alot of people have come to the same conclusion by themselves, we haven't been coerced by some mental weakness into believing Metallica sucks now, we just all agree (how anyone can like St. Anger confuses me). Tool is a great prog rock/alt metal band but I wouldn't classify them as metal. Even so, they're one of my favourite bands, hopefully they announce some New Zealand dates in the future. Also I don't normally do this but the guy who wrote the first post is a total douche.
Now Playing: Khanate - "Release"

Slug Emperor says:
"10,000 days i think was incredibly well done."
"Maynard helps prove why he's one of the best singers out there"
then
"Tools sux"
Make up your mind fool.
Tool throw metal into the concotion, they've influenced countless bands...metal and otherwise (for better and worse) in their tenure and their impact continues to resonate. While not a metal band they use the element regularly enough to justify covering them.
Now Playing: Hate Eternal - "The Plague of Humanity"

yeah cynic i wasnt saying that people are following each other, i was saying that those are generally the popular views, but i think when any popular band changes their music style they will almost always be heavily criticized because that is not what you listen to that band for... Korn, and Metallica are perfect examples. I dont like Korn's new stuff but to somebody else it could be a amazing but for the genre or style of music they had before it really isnt is good. But in metallica's st.anger post people will say well the recording, drums, singing, down tuned guitars were all bad... But for somebody like me, i like Lars's snare style although i think he over did it, i loved the guitar and bass tones and riffs, i thought the singing was much better than the thrash high pitch singing, and i thought the lyrics were more thought over, and overall there was more passion from the vocal part. But i still like the old stuff, but if your a long time listener you dont want to hear that new stuff, but if that was an album from another band i think it would have been judged differently, or not necessarily judged differently but would have a different audience of listeners.

Metal, nu-metal, prog...labels in general are pointless. Inevitably people choose a side. TOOL produces great MUSIC. 'Nuff said. It will stand the test of time...1992 - ????.
I saw TOOL in D.C. before they went overseas and ISIS opened for them...great set. I am also going to the Winston Salem, NC show June 13th and I've heard Melt Banana is opening (I hope I'm wrong).?.I think it will be their only date.

Saw Tool when they came to Pittsburgh w/ Isis as opener, it was an amazing show. It wasn't just the music, their light show was a real trip, just the whole experience was more than what a "show" is usually considered. Yeah, you won't see people moshing at a Tool show, they're too busy enthralled by the sights and sounds of it. And if you have any training in music and payed attention to what Tool does with their music, you wouldn't say they suck. Hell, synching three tracks together so that they form one song with everything flowing perfect, 5 bass tracks and 4 guitar tracks, yeah, really talentless. And thats just what they did with 10,000 days.
