Arch Enemy Prepares New Album

Band Photo: Arch Enemy (?)
Swedish metal band Arch Enemy is currently working on material for their next album. Thus far the group has written 7-8 new tracks. According to guitarist Michael Amott, the songs are "life-changing and ridiculously huge metal hymns; this is all my own (not so) humble opinion of course. You'll see."
The band has booked studio time for March and April, with a release expected in summer 2007 via Century Media Records.

in my humble opinion, i think that angela gossow has one of the greatest death rasps in metal right now. it is a grotesque bark that is very individual to her. although i dont necessarily like the last album, Anthems, its predecessor was incredible. in a time when the avenged sevenfolds and triviums saturating the underground w/ there streamlined record selling shlop, bands like arch enemy bring a real classic metal feel to their new wave sound in a not so (trivium-like) contrived attemp to sound like there influences. and come on, michael amott is one of thier f***ing guitar players, although i bet a carcass reference would be a little too far back for some of you. my point, arch enemy does not suck and angela gossow is the best thing to ever happen to mike and the boys.

angela gossow in my opinion kills the band, atleast Liiva was tolerable and used slightly different vocals from time to time. Angela just barks in the same way and really kills some of the more melodic parts with her nasty and computer altered vomiting, the new stuff doesn't even compare to the old stuff's raw energy and heaviness.
(end rant)

The band needs to get rawer. Angela is not the reson for thier "mellowing", I guss thier just trying to brake into the american market. If this is the case, then they need to forget about trying to be on mtv2 and make music that s so insane it could wake the dead, and Michael needs to bring his brother back into the band.
And, as far as the Gouthenberg sound gose, Dismember kicks everyones asses at it.
Also, lets start boycotting any more blatient ripoffs of this sound (ie, just about every metal core band whose avent came after 2003 ,save Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, and God Forbid)
I await your respones/hate-mail.

Hey, this f***ing rules. Arch Enemy is such a f***ing great band. Angela Gossow is a great f***ing female singer - and I don't want to hear them return to Burning Bridges, but rather Anthems or Wages of Sin sound. Those albums f***ing ruled. I have seen them live and they are awesome. I just can't f***ing wait for this album.

I'll clarify my comment about Angela. She has a good death metal growl but as Bodom pointed out it's all the same. Liiva mixed it up and I feel fit better with their melodic sound. Also, the lyrics are the most uninspired bs I've ever heard. Gassow and Throwdown's vocalist should get together and work on a follow up to their dual opus' "We Will Rise".
I will admit I am quite biased being a big fan of all of Johan Liiva's work. Check out Liiiva's efforts since leaving Arch Enemy, Hearse and Nonexist.

Thrash Banger I totally agree man, you talk major sense. I think her vocals are fine but the music is lacking a bit. I don't really hear any new ideas from them and they're just a bit boring for me. I still praise them for flying the metal flag in this time of watered down clones.

exactly why in flames are so great.
they make the melody seem so natural you're taken up in the beauty of it all.
and to metal mayhem, i dont like arch enemy's vocalist, not to insult your taste or anything but it is too raw for me, and i cant get dark tranquility stuff so i pretty much cant compare them too much.
plus in flames rule.

i see what you are saying there thrash banger and it is true. her voice to me also got progressively worse as time past. on wages of sin her voice was actually not bad at all, still had annoying moments of course, but anthems and doomsday her voice just kills it man! the music was also quite medicore though (compared to the older stuff of course, but is way better than any other crap being put out in this genre). so let's hope they shape up and leave angela out of the melodic parts please!
or maybe change her voice a bit, let's hear some clean vocals from her, you know...singing...let's see how "talented" she really is.

right on antihippy, just wanted to know why in flames....and no offense taken at all, im really not a big arch enemy fan anyway. im a carcass fan, and angela reminds me a lot of jeff walkers vocals. that band also played on michael amott's talent so much better. and antihippy, check out At the Gates.....you'll hear a lot of in flames, and even more The Haunted, if your into that stuff.
