i dont really like either band, but mushroomhead should just shut the f*** up already. slipknot, like them or not have done more for heavy music since the mid nineties than any band out there. they are one of the reasons that bands like lamb of god, shadows fall, and all those other big metal bands are big. as much as i dislike them, slipknot paved the way for the "new wave of heavy metal". just b/c mushroomhead wore those f***in stupid costumes first means nothing. when your band sucks, your stage wear cant make up for it. shut the f*** up and learn some respect b/c slipknot deserves it for being one of the main reasons that metal is as big today as its ever been.

I guess it's marketing...but at the same time...the director of that film is the one that did their music video...so it's not like there is no relationship there besides the Slipknot/Mushroomhead debate. Anyway...I still haven't seen this damn movie...it was on the indie movie circuit a long time ago...why has this thing still not hit the market?

Personally, I prefer mushroomhead. No real reason, I just find that their songs differ from each other moreso than slipknots do. Slipknot seems to have two basic songs: Corey angry, and Corey bitter. It gets real boring, real fast. For me. And I prefer mushroomhead's lyrical content/considerations, anyway.
But griping about the mask issue is just stupid. Get over it. You have no patent on the idea, so move on, and groove on.

it's really very sad reading this comments.. some of you, very few of you, but some of you have very good points.. but with people making idiotic comments it's very hard to grasp those points.. anyway.. slipknot is a good band, no one can really argue it, they didn't get to where they are because they suck.. though i think they are the most dissorganized and poorly managed band ever to hit the metal universe.. on the other hand, mushroomhead is also a good band.. yes i like them both.. mushroomhead's music is unique and diverse... nu-metal is bullsh** by the way.. it doesn't exist.. though both slipknot and mushroomhead really push the boarders of "metal" somtimes... and for the record.. the likelyhood that slipknot stole mushroomhead's image is high.. but only to an extent.. slipknot has a lot of original ideas themselves that are unique to them.. same with mushroomhead.. if you don't like either band then i understand, same with if you don't like one or the other.. but don't say "they suck" because history and present shows that neither band suck..

hey mourning star....those stats are nice and all, but when did you first hear of LOG? and dont tell me you saw them in richmond VA in 1990 cause you didnt. they broke out well after slipknot was established. same goes for shadows fall. i had the of one blood album, but everyone else heard of them around "the art of balance release", again well after slipknot established metal in the main stream. i dont like any of these bands that we are talking about here. my only point was that slipknot deserves respect for what they have done. LOG would not be on a major label right now if it wasnt for Slipknot and that is a fact. Again, i dont even like LOG, Slipknot, SF, or Mushroomhead but dont try and tell us all how LOG has been around for 10 years cause, yes, they have been. but, for the first seven they were playing basements and house parties in virginia.

Im sorry to say, i have nothing against mushroomhead but slipknot is better. mushroomhead is just bitter because slipknot gained more exposer than them. slipknot did not get big because of the mask. They got big because they make great music and cause of their relentless touring. They blew up at ozzfest 99, wait and bleed got big, and the first band on roadrunner to gain a platnium album. Mushroomhead needs to get over it, big deal u have mask, but ur music is not as good as slipknot's. And slipknot is the reason why bands like lamb of god, hatebreed, and shadows fall all got big. So say what u will about slipknot, but as far as im concerned they paved the way for the future of metal.

ok, in my opinion, and everything i say is based on opinion, slipknot is better. Not because they are more popular or more commercially accepted, but i think they sound better. Corey's voice just does something for me...the main vocalist in mushroomhead, i cant stand his voice. And the mask thing, what if slipknot did take the idea from them? Why did slipknot become recognized first? They are better. You think if slipknot wasnt found that mushroom head would have eventually been discovered? I dont, i think that mushroomhead made it big because of slipknot and the mask thing, i dont mushroomhead could have done it without slipknot and the mask thing rising first. people would have just looked over them. But slipknot had something better that mushroomhead didnt. So if slipknot did take the mask idea from them...i think mushroomhead should be a little thankful because slipknot paved the way for them.

to post 24, both bands were formed in 1990. slipknots 1st major album was released in 99 and lamb of gods was in 98 as burn the priest. so esentially log did make it big 1st. but if you want to talk mainstream, then yes slipknot were 1st. but i would not attribute any of logs sucess to that of slipknot. log gained popularity in the underground with a whole different group of fans that those who listened to slipknot.

i listen to all of those bands you have all been talking about except slipknot but slipknot did not pave the way for hatebreed or lamb of God it was bands like old Sepultura Slayer and classic metal like that record execs are always looking for a band to pick up the mantle of these its all about the money for the record companies just enjoy the metal created and ignore what you dont like cause if you fight over what metal is better all that will be around is rap now no one can really want that

to post 28, i happen to listen to niether LOG or Slipknot. however, i used to be a huge BTP/LOG fan. to say that burn the priest's first release was a sign that they "made it big" first is crazy. That album probably sold 2000 copies if it was lucky. Everyone went back and bought the reissue after ashes of the wake came out. I cant believe there is actually an argument that LOG was around before Slipknot. Im a fan of neither band, but this is rediculous. There were only a handful of people that had heard of LOG before the 2001 release of New American Gospel adn the really made it into the underground scene w/ As the Palaces Burn and that is a fact. Slipknot's self titled release in 1999 went platinum. that is why i am arguing that they paved the way for bands like LOG and Shads. Just because LOG are now the biggest thing since sliced f***in bread all the kiddies want to argue on their impact on today's metal scene which was minimal at best. They were beneficiaries of all that came before them. Not to mention that there is nothing original about their sound. Burn the Priest, as even they will tell you did not do much for their career at the time. Anyway eveyone posting about LOG and slipknot and mushroomhead should be listening to Behemoth, Nasum, Converge, and Suffocation instead.

Lamb of God(far far far far better than Slipknot), Slayer, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Chimaira...etc(and all of these bands are WAY better than Slipknot by the way). Ya'll are some deprived people. Mushroomhead blows Slipknot away 'cause Slipknot is mainstream GARBAGE. If you think you're tough stuff 'cause you listen to Slipknot then you're a poser. Go shop at Hot Topic with mommy and daddy's credit card and then drive home in their car while listening to your poser Slipknot on the way home...and probally when you get home too...'cause YOU ARE SO HARDCORE. Get a life, you're not fooling anyone. Mushroomhead is better by far.

im not realy big on nu metal (more of a death/thrash metal guy myself), but if i had to pick a more talented band than i would probably go with mushroomhead. they put a diverse number of influences into their songs with everything ranging from goth, death metal, classical, techno, and even rap(though i hate rap, something slipknot seems to be fond of as well) their songwriting is also a tad above slipknot as tey actually stray away from the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus routine that slipknot swears by (and pretty much every other mainstream rock and metalcore bands do). but anyway, thats just my opinion. please dont come to my house to kill me and get your hot topic mascara all over my clean carpet from crying because someone insulted slipknot. bah what am i saying, f*** nu metal.

Agreed to the part about the new album. It is totally more different then the originals. Personally I liked when they were completely underground because they had the gothic sound to them. Now the more and more they are sounding like slipknot. I do have to say it is very hard to tell that they have a new singer since he sounds exactly like the old one. But you make the call.

i personally like slipknot myself, but honestly...if this is the best mushroomhead can do, then....i dunnno. they shud just get over themselves, whether this be about the masks or the fact slipknot made it big, and they didn't. last time i checked, life isn't fair, no?
