Typical Isis.

Metal-minimalism in long form. Good stuff.

A bit more emphasis on melodic vocals this time around....Topping Pan Opticon and Oceanic will be tough though.

Definitely something you have to be in the mood for. More often than not the music is very simple and rhythmic. Sometimes heavy sometimes delicate and ambient. The vocals are buried under the guitars.

Not something I would play if were on a long drive and I was worried about falling asleep behind the wheel (believe me). Sometimes the music is so rhythmic it can lull you into a trance. Good stuff though...

You could call it that....
Experimental post-metal is my label for it. It has a very stripped down feel to it. Modest production, not a lot of studio gloss but it doesnt sound like it was recorded in a bathroom either....

I listen to this band when I'm so frazzled from life that I can't even muster the anger to listen to something really crushing....
I'll flip on some Isis, zone out for a bit and then build my way up to some LOG, Mudvayne PxDx or Opeth...

Soothing and energetic all at once.

I would give Pan Opticon a try if you're new to them. It's their best album, though hardcore fans will tell you Oceanic is the way to go, I disagree.

Isis take a little bit of patience. It's not something you can get right into.

Isis is brillant, way better than all those foremention bands. Isis is cutting edge. Panopticon along with Oceanic were groundbreaking albums!

These guys are genious but I still find oceanic and panopticon superior. This is a Strong effort tho They manage to clean things up but still stay heavy drony and melodic.
