Avenged Sevenfold has recorded and released a brand new, studio version of Pantera's "Walk," which you can stream from their MySpace page. The track is also available in this weeks Kerrang! magazine.
Avenged Sevenfold will be playing a number of European festivals and tour dates with Metallica and Guns N Roses before returning to the United States to play the main stage of Ozzfest beginning June 29 in Seattle, Washington.

I didn't listen to it (I have 56k internet) but still if you're going to cover a song why not make it something that is harder and would actually make you look better? Sevendust did this song pretty well once, with each vocalist (the frontman, the drummer and one of the guitarsits covering differnt parts and then all of them doing the chorus)....The point of a cover is to put your own spin on something...A7X covered it more or less faithfully...what ruined it for me the was the whiney quality of m shadows cuts through on certain vowel sounds, particularly when he finishes a line or word.....
I should plan ahead next time...I still need an icepack for my hand.

I'm sorry but A7X cannot compare to main stage lineup of even LAST YEAR with Arch Enemy, Mudvayne, Iron Maiden - Black Sabbath. In Flames was even on the second stage as well. Even Lamb of God would be a better choice than A7X or Black Dahlia Murder or Vital Remains.

Avenged Sevenfold are not bad musician, but they find away to suck. I actually heard some of their older stuff that wasn't that bad. They just ripe of elements from old successful band and that just shows what they are really about. They try to be some new motely crue, and wonder why nobody takes them serious. Everytime you hear from them they're whinning about want to be taken serious as a really metal band. Maybe if the cut out the gammicks and bullsh**...f*** it their just gay, and that walk cover is brutal.

I've never purchased her records but I have listened to half a dozen or so songs. She is probably one of the best lyricists of her generation...skilled musician to boot.

It's true. All A7X DOES is rip off elements of great music and desperately try and call it their own music, when it's just sh**ty music. PERIOD. I just finished listening to their cover of Walk. The guitarist can't cover Dimebag's riffs and their lousy singer's voice is scratchy and is painful to listen to. And who is to say what Dimebag would have said. All of you bashing Avenged's musical abilities are all obviously wrong for many reasons. They are playing the main stage at Ozzfest, they are on tour right now with Metallica and Guns n Roses, members of Metallica and Megadeth have told them straight up that they are holding the metal flag now, I could go on but you get the point. All of you saying that Synester can't play guitar...how many of you can even come close to covering Walk? How many of you have gone to the Musicians Institute of Technology? I've been a fan of A7X since their first album and just because they decided to start playing what they love isn't going to change my opinion of them. A7X covered Walk to honor Pantera so to bash them just for doing that is stupid. I admit that they sound a lot like older bands but what band nowadays doesn't? You have to get inspiration from somewhere. Any band can be considered good. A7X is simply decent at best. I know there is a lot of effort and talent involved in writing music and lyrics as I play guitar myself. While I'm not the best and no I haven't graduated from the Musicians Institute of Technology, that simply doesn't mean that all of a sudden they are legendary musicians. There are people who can play guitar. There are people who can play guitar well. Then there are people who simply are kick-ass musicians. A7X is decent at best in the overall metal scene.

If you are going to do a cover of a song that has become a standard in the industry then you better do a kick a$$ job of it and they didnt. Ive read comments that say this is a good cover but all true metal fans get sick to thier stomach when they hear it. there truely is no standard anymore.

I'll sum it up....A7X have one maybe 2 more big records before one or more members overdoses and goes to rehab.... Smarter members who stayed off the fun stuff or kicked the habbit early will have solo projects that fail....The members that are addicts will have many relapses and go to fat camp just like Vince Neil and CC from Motley Crue and Poison.

It's not bullsh**. There are a plethora of bands that are worthy of main stage than A7X at Ozzfest and that easily OWN A7X at any concert. My best wish is that when A7X is announced, the whole f***ing arena scatters and is abandoned and then comes back to f***ing mosh and rock to Dragonforce!
