Monument Of Misanthropy Premiere New Single & Music Video "Washington State Charm" - The Title Track To Their Upcoming New Album

Originally founded as a solo project by singer Georg Wilfinger (ex-Miasma) in 2010 in Austria, MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY has released three studio albums, an EP and a demo up to now. The previous full-length album "Vile Postmortem Irrumatio" was released in August 2024 and drew roaring reviews worldwide.
Today, those relentless purveyors of auditory violence and “Mindhunters” of brutal death metal have premiered their new single “Washington State Charm.” The track also serves as the title track to their upcoming new full-length release.
"Washington State Charm" is framed as a concept album, charting the coming-of-age story of a serial killer—from an uneasy upbringing and early warning signs to a grim conclusion in the electric chair—drawing inspiration from one of America’s most infamous figures, Ted Bundy.

The band comments on the second single from "Washington State Charm":
"The title track “Washington State Charm” is where things really lock in. Joe wrote this one — same genius behind all of “Unterweger” — and he’s been shaping most of this record alongside our drummer Simon. The two of them have been studying jazz together over here at a music conservatory in Austria, and you can hear that push and pull all over this track. It’s technical, yes, but never just for the sake of it — everything still hits with groove, weight, and intent through all the brutality.
And yes… the story behind it is just as heavy: July 14th, 1974 — Lake Sammamish State Park. Thousands of people out in the sun, families hanging out, swimming, just a normal summer day where nothing’s supposed to go wrong.
But right there, in broad daylight, Ted Bundy used nothing but charm and manipulation to abduct two women — Janice Ott and Denise Naslund. That contrast… that false sense of safety… that’s the core of this track."
Adds frontman Georg Wilfinger:
"This time, we didn’t want to risk another YouTube ban by showing graphic imagery in the music video. Instead, we chose a more subtle approach and left the gruesome details to the viewer’s imagination. Our goal was to capture the innocent, carefree atmosphere of the early 1970s and create a visual contrast between that nostalgic setting, the music itself, and the dark story behind it.
What makes the story so disturbing is not the violence itself, but the confidence and audacity of the perpetrator. Imagine someone approaching young women in broad daylight, in a crowded public setting, and repeatedly getting away with it. The fact that he returned to the same location and continued operating in plain sight says a lot about how untouchable and secure he believed himself to be.
For us, that contrast between normality and horror was far more unsettling than any graphic depiction could ever be. It highlights how dangerous appearances can be and how evil can hide behind what seems ordinary, familiar, and harmless."
Monument Of Misanthropy' s new guest-filled album 'Washington State Charm' is scheduled for a June 26, 2026 release date on Listenable Records.
