GRAMMY-winning sludge metal band Mastodon have released a brand new single titled “Your Ghost Again,” marking the first new music from the group following the departure of longtime guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds. The split between Hinds and the band occurred in early 2025, making the arrival of the new track a significant turning point in the band's history.
“Your Ghost Again” is expected to serve as the lead single from Mastodon’s forthcoming ninth studio album, which the band has reportedly already completed. Production duties on the song were shared between the band, producer Patrik Berger, and Kurt Ballou of Converge.
The track also features writing and performance contributions from Mastodon’s newer members, guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira.
In addition to the new music, fans may not have to wait long for touring news. A new headlining North American trek, reportedly titled “The Poisonous Weapons Tour,” is expected to be announced today. Promotional material that has surfaced online suggests support will come from Deafheaven and Alcest, with tour dates already beginning to circulate ahead of an official announcement.
