Chicago post-metal band Russian Circles have revealed the details of their upcoming ninth studio album, “Nine,” which is set for release on August 28th via Sargent House. Initial recording sessions took place at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL, the studio founded by the late Steve Albini. Converge’s Kurt Ballou handled engineering duties for the album, which was ultimately completed at his GodCity Studio in Salem, MA.

The album’s lead single, “Empath,” has also been released alongside a video created by Madeline Hampton.

Discussing the band’s current creative dynamic, the members collectively stated:

“The music we make is a collective process of reconciliation, navigation, and reflection upon aging both as individuals and as a creative entity. Life has created very real distances between us, but the band continues to be at the center, and this creative collaboration is a way of charting the passage of time while also giving us a reason to look to the future.”

To support the new record, Russian Circles have announced a North American headlining tour for this fall with Pelican and Primitive Man serving as support on select dates.
