Banderia proves a great point, This song definitely reveals what this band is all about. Why is it that no matter what band i'm reading news about there is someone who has to throw in a Slipknot Sux! comment? That or Korn Sux! they're both highly successful bands that obviously have a ton of fans, but some of you still feel the need to cut them down just cuz they're kicking a$$ all over the world and you're not. Get over it you punk b****es!

Here in the real life metal community we are highly dissapointed when a band sells out, whether we in fact liked them or not, as is the case with Slipknot and Korn and System. I wouldnt even post on these guys if I didnt have to, just to keep the kiddies and "freaks" off these damn boards. The bands sucks amd 9 times out of 10, so do the comments of their fans.

Like Metallica, Slayer, Korn, Megadeth and thousdands of other bands: SOAD is just one more example of a band that loses sight of metal.
The older and more commercially successful a band becomes the more they tinker with their sound moving the aggression out in place of pop-song format and idiot-simple catchy melodies....or they just run out of ideas and retread the same tired bullsh**.
I liked System of a Down when their guitarist kept himself quiet (his vocal harmonies were good, and his guitar skill remarkable, but his lead vocals and lyrics are in the style of really piss poor quality punk.... his voice is waaay too Coheed and Cambria for it's own good.
Serj, Shavo and John remain interesting but they're being pushed to the fringe so SOAD can become Daron Malakian of a Down.
Its sad really, because every member of System really are talented but they're letting the guitarist steal the show and it's disrupting their otherwise very interesting sound. I liked their debut, "Toxicity" and "Steal!" quite a bit but "Mez" has 3 good songs and 2 so-so songs...the rest is crap.

Sellout /Not sellout. Who cares? sh**=sh** and now so do SOAD. I didn't mind their s/t (Spiders was a really cool track), but it was inconsistent, some cool stuff, lots of meh stuff. Toxicity was more consistent, but it's peaks weren't as high as their s/t. Steal This Album was a typical 'for hardcore fans only' meh rarities collection.
Mezmerize, however, was terrible. The quirkiness became stupidity, the heaviness was forced, the songwriting dropped several notches down and most crucially - WHO THE f*** DECIDED IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO GIVE DARON MALAKIAN THAT MUCH VOCAL INPUT?!?!?. The guy can harmonise quite well, but as a lead vocalist he is truly awful. Especially when a fairly talented vocalist, Serj Tankian, is rotting on the sidelines.

As a serious musician and songwriter, I have the ut-most respect for this band. Daren is probably the most talented of all of them. In a time when rock & metal have sucked a$$ for a long time they have made a HUGE mark and are truly the most talented musicians out there right now. If you don't like the new stuff it's because you don't have a clue about what goes into making good music. Until you can do a better job, SHUT THE F*%$ UP!
