A video of former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch offering a guided tour of the community in India where he has been living in for the past several weeks, helping the poorer communities and leper children, has been posted online at his official web site, HeadToChrist.com (Quicktime, 15.2 MB).

As previously reported, Welch recently announced that he will be founding what he's calling a Head Home in India, where he will house leper children. "My eyes have been opened to children on the street and I feel like that is who I want and need to help," he said in a statement. Footage of his efforts will reportedly be turned into a documentary on his life.

I still think Head is batty (some of the things he says in interviews border on fanatical) but he's got a good heart and this is without a doubt one of the most noble things the guy could do with his time and money now that he's out of Korn.

Looked up korns guitar tabs on the internet... this is what it looked like: 0-0-1-1-0-0-1-0-1-1-1-0-1-0-1-1-1-1. (2.) I learned to play all korn and slipknot songs on my bass in less than an hour. (3.) Watched Dragon ball GT, sh**ty sequal to a good series, the only thing sh**tier was the intro music...it was nu-metal rap... it consisted of 2 chords repeated over and over again on 1 string. (4.) Was watching MADtv when "Cypress Hill" performed. To my amazement they had...guitarists...? this is what they played on 1 downtuned guitar string: 0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0. I was amazed by their excellent guitar work, but i was even wore amazed by there flexibility: They were completely bent over with their legs 6 feet apart while playing!!! how could they perform such gymnastic feats while playing such intricate work on their guitars. Those guitarists were jokes. Its almost as if theyre children who no nothing about metal pretending to be rock stars. I liked Korn...alot...but the bands that played in their wake were a bunch of jokes. Heads solo was, although not the best, way better than any guitar work. I officially resign from my position as a nu-metal fan. oh and those slipknot fans at my school who look like homosexual gothic nascar drivers sponsered only by slipknot themselves absolutely need to get their asses kicked. so in conclusion...open your eyes.

The same can be said for the fathers of hair metal and grunge. I am on pins and needles for something as or more revolutionary because I have explored most every nook and crany of metal (black, thrash, metal-core, death, grind, MISC.) for something DIFFERENT and the best I can do is the deranged complexity of Dillinger Escape Plan and Pig Destroyer. Everything else just reminds me of something else, and the jaded will say:

"Theres nothing left to explore!"

But I think more lies in wait for metal, it just has to survive being uncovered and accepted.

There are still some good new sounds out there. Devildriver are sounding good and Chimaira's latest effort is a new spin on their last album sound with more classic and melodic metal influences. There will certainly come along some original bands, but no one can predict when the next big sound will come along or what it will sound like. Metalcore sure came in a flurry and stifled itself with hundreds of like-sounding bands faster than nu-metal did.

1) Korn was extremely good! They were different and they got a lot of attention for what was honestly an amazing, ground-breaking new sound!
2) Making THAT much good music kinda left 'em a little burnt out and they put out some fairly decent sh*t for a while.
3) After putting all they had left into the "fairly decent sh*t" not much good came from their instruments or from the tip of Davis' pen... some ok covers but frankly the original stuff was sh*t!
4) Head left and with him my hope that Korn could recapture the magic that originally drew me (and many other fans) to them...
...NOW) I don't know how the new stuff is coming or how they'll recover. Not just from the loss of Head but from the downward spiral that has been consuming them for the past few years... It'd be great if they did! Sure I'll be forced to eat these words and all the others I've spouted on the subject-- but it'd be worth it to feel the rush I used to get hearing a new single or getting a new album...

I'm glad Head has found what he feels gives him more of a purpose... everyone needs that and if his is to help people less fortunate than he, well-- more power to him! (sorry that's the black half of me coming out)

If Korn CAN recover I'll be glad... I have my doubts- strong ones- but I wish them luck!
