Slipknot Rely On LA Forum's Ignorance

Band Photo: Slipknot (?)
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is convinced the Christian owners of Los Angeles venue the LA Forum are oblivious of the band's true persona - otherwise they would never be allowed to perform there.
The wild rock band are happy to let the Christian Fundamentalist bosses believe they are a "cartoon band" if it means they can continue to perform at the 16,000 seater amphitheatre.
He says, "Maybe they're too intimidated to say no to us or either they don't understand what we're doing or they take it on the cartoon value, they think it's just a show, when we're very passionate about what we do and what we say.
"Thank God for ignorance otherwise we wouldn't be able to play here."

Guys... this is a reference to a previous incident when Lamb of God were not allowed to play in the Forum for a recent show (within the last year or so). When the owners discovered that Lamb of God used to be called Burn the Priest, they had the proverbial (sacrifical) cow and told LoG that the band would not be welcome to play at their venue. Such is life. Peace...

yeah, cartoon band, like one of those shows i watched on saturday mornings when i was 7? lol, could you imagine watching slipknot? they would burn bugs bunny to death, shoot daffy, and rape minny mouse. actually that would be hilarious! someone make an internet cartoon on that. and credit me for the idea pleez!

It never gets old watching people who hate slipknot wasting their time by posting hateful comments in slipknot-related forums. If you hate them so much, STOP DISCUSSING THEM!!! I see more people who diss slipknot than actual fans in slipknot-related topics these days. Its f***ing pathetic. You making fun of them does not change the fact that they have an army of fans and millions of albums sold. Oh yea....and most of the "better" bands you guys seem to have listed....they respect (or have toured) with the knot. I win.

HAHAHAHA!!!!
To date, Slipknot hasn't sold "millions of albums."
They have sold over a million, but that doesn't mean a million people bought the album, what that is is the count of how many stores bought X amount of copies to be sold.
Don't start me on this sh**.

28. writes:
Hey DeadMetal, your post makes no sense. You say at the rate they are going they are going to fade away? They are currently more successful than they have ever been, with four singles and a very successful tour. And by the way, calling me a "fa**ot" doesn't make your argument any better. And by the way, I am not a "brainwashed homo" as you so intelligently out it, I am a college-educated 21 year old who happens to enjoy Slipknot's music without giving two sh**s what band-wagon jumping slipknot haters like you think about it. Ha.

29. writes:
Oh, and by the way, I find your posts VERY amusing, so keep them coming! The fact that you waste your time in a bands forum when you don't even like them is sad enough, but I really do hope you stick around so I can keep enjoying your ridiculous and immature rebuttals! I mean seriously, are you ten? Maybe thirteen? I'm not joking, I am really curious! I mean, anyone's whos sole argument consists of gay jokes and innaccurate information can be past their pre-teens.....at least education-wise.

ok, deadmetal, no man no
... they are about as far from "raw" as can be ... glossy sheen radio metal is more like it ...
that is just bullsh**, glossy sheen radio metal, are u fukking kidding me. dude you should be shot. the stuff may be "radio friendly" but its still raw. Duality is about a guy pressing his fingers into his fukking eyes. If that isn't raw i don't know what is. And Vermillion has a badass guitar solo. So you can go fukk yourself. You like to listen to that old hair metal right? if that stuff isn't glossy sheen metal, then i don't know what the fukk is. And to pulseofthesicness, thank god dude, i'm was the only other intelligent slipknot fan here before you, thanks for comin along man.
34. writes:
... to pulse, YES, slipknot is gaining tons of fans ... ALL THE WHILE losing every ounce of metal credibility that they ever had ... they have sold out for the dollar and will never return to their prior form ...
to wagon, their music is not raw ... in fact it is way over produced and has almost ZERO rawness ... it was produced so that every track on the cd could be played on national radio ... in no way does an entire album of radio-friendly music qualify as "raw" ... "pressing your fingers into your eyes" might have been "raw" if he hadn't have sang it like a bad michael jackson impersonation ... that song is also "straight to the radio" glossy garbage ...

C'mon now, ''Duality'' wasn't to bad. Like I said early, Corey tried to make SLipknot ,Stone Sour. If or when the new album comes out,to save their carees,it should have more of a Iawo sound. They are too old to try another ''Bar Code'' but ''Iawo'' was f***ing pimp.
But then again the odds of a new c-d are really low.
37. writes:
I dunno, I don't think the odds of another cd are that bad. I have read that Shawn is the only one who seems to be having problems with the group. Corey, Joey and Chris have expressed their desire for another record. I like Volume 3, but a heavier/darker album like Iowa would be very welcoming. S/T is still my favorite though.

Ok people, I feel I should clear something up here...
Radio-friendly and main-stream, soes NOT mean bad.
A good song is a good song.
Rulin Kmadd-An acoustic song is not a bad song, it means it is a different song. If something is different it is not bad.
Yes I am a SlipKnot fan, yes I love their new album but yes, I do think they are starting to sell out...
Please guys, grow up or shut up, because most of you are giving youselfs bad names
80. writes:
to post 79, you're right, "radio and mainstream does not mean bad", neccessarily ... but in the case of this piece of sh** slipgay album it does mean "bad" or "horrible" or "sell-out-pus sy" album ... it sucks !
... they haven't just "started" to sell-out ... they full on took the jump into sell-out gayness and will forever have no more metal credibility ...

82. writes:
I meant that they are starting to sell out now, because, their masks brought attention to them, it worked and they benefited while under the hot collar 'There's no such thing as bad publicity.' i.e.
When they first crashed on to the scene, with explosive music that caught the ear and masks that pretty much scared churches sh**less, they looked like a band ready to kick the sh** out of main-stream bands, and to tell the truth, they did.
Their next album kicked as much a$$ as the first and they maintained their image, the masks still brought them publicity.
But with this album, ''Blowing minds in more subtle ways'' is a good way to describe it. Most of the time, when you are debating with somebody over an album or band(a real debate, I don't mean''Ur gay coz u like dem''), you can usually tell if the person you are debating with is a musician or has a musical understanding. The songs are not as heavy, but still maintain aggresiveness. In all, the songs make more sense musically, the acoustic songs showed Corey actually has a good voice, and Ross Robinson gave Mick and James the room they needed to show off their formidable chops.
But they are now using their masks to get more attention, Corey taking his off at a concert and taking off all their masks in their new video speaks volumes of where they are likely to go.
I'll leave you with a quote from Paul Gray-''There have been bands before us with masks and other weird gimmicks, but they didn't sell any records. We sell a sh** load of records so we have the music to back up the masks''
84. writes:
but on a less juvenile note,
"We sell a sh** load of records so we have the music to back up the masks'' ... wtf is that supposed to mean? .... the masks are a half bit cover up for 7 of these guys being talentless and boring (joey and the dj being the 2 ... HAHAHAHA!!!) ....
''Blowing minds in more subtle ways'' ... more appropriately would be "This album blows in a subtle way" ... its nothing spectacular and its all glossy and not just "radio-friendly" but straight up meant for pop radio ... its horribly over produced and the "acoustic" and "soft" songs are just another ploy to gain attention ... kinda similar to the only stone sour single being an acoustic solo by corey and the rest was more or less hard rock stuff ...
i don't want to hear corey's "good voice" ... i want to hear him growl and scream and i want his band to back him up with aggressive guitars and crazy drum beats ... at least they got the drums down ...
86. writes:
Now that's where I disagree.[ beware I'm using Korn again]. Korn's first was rather agressive and didn't feature much melody. That is untill you got to ''Daddy''. The first mintue or so with John singing slow and peacefully...........buetiful. I think it's a good thing when a fast, agressive band can play a song or two thst makes you think and chill out. You know smoke a ciggerate, sit down, and let your mind and thoughts kick in only in a different way. Thats what made ''Bother'' or ''Vermilion pt.2'' so cool.

87. writes:
These arguments against Slipknot are pathetic. Not one of you actually knows for a fact their true intentions. They play music which relieves THEIR opinions and aggressions and inspires millions, either to be like them or not. I don't care how "hardcore" you claim to be, you have to respect a band or person who can create this much controversy and still stand at the top. These posts make me respect them more than ever.
89. writes:
"Not one of you actually knows for a fact their true intentions" ... i'm pretty sure that there is one MAIN, very MAIN, intention from putting out a disc like this ... MONEY !! Money and ONLY MONEY !! ... which is fine, if they want to make a buck great for them i wish i was rich too ... BUT, that also means that they lose all credibility ... this is basically the official definition of "selling-out" ... the money becomes more imporant than a commitment to great music ...
... i dont claim to be hardcore and i will never respect a band that makes a disc that sucks this bad ... its a half a$$ attempt, it was way overproduced and way under played ... they glossed the music into one big lump of half aggressive, half softcore light rock ...

90. writes:
I hope you heard this straight from their mouths. When I listen to the album I hear diversity, passion and most of all music which allows me to release my aggressions. It's your opinion that it sucks, not mine and not the opinion of millions of fans. I like what hits strikes my heart and my soul and to be quite this C.D. and the previous two do. And if you're basing your hate on one album you have a pretty small mind if you ask me.

94. writes:
DEADMETAL (and the rest of you f**kers):
Have you listened to and actually tried to understand "Subliminal Verses" ? Highly doubtful seeing as how you can sit at your computer and type that "its a half a$$ attempt, it was way overproduced and way under played ... they glossed the music into one big lump of half aggressive, half softcore light rock ..." If you can't understand it yourself at least read the lyrics or something... True, as far as the FCC goes it can mostly be played on the radio, but restating the above, that doesn't make bad. If you don't like it (you obviously don't) that's fine... and I do aggree they're starting to sell out, but the music is still the music and it's full of passion and pain, and it "strikes my heart" too.

97. writes:
I trust you were in studio when they were writing the record then DEADMETAL? Because that is the only way you can "know" they sat down and said "Let's make a pop-rock album," which it cannot be with riff styles and double-kick, No pop-rock band uses these in this manner. F-ck, even bands like Megadeth, Judas Priest and Black Label Society are becoming more melodic in their music. I don't see you complaining about them.
98. writes:
... not a fan of judas priest but they are extremely talented and therefore i have nothing bad to say about them ... i don't like BLS at all either, dont care for the style, too much of an ozzy ripoff ... i really enjoy megadeth though ...
BACK TO SLIPKNOT ... good thing i didn't need to be in the studio to realize that this is a pop-rock album huh? lucky for us they recorded it and called it volume 3 and released it ... thats how i was able to tell that this album was a piece of sh** ...
... i have said many times before that the only saving grace of slipknot is joey, he's a great drummer, but he happens to be in a sold-out piece of sh** band ...

100. writes:
A persons opinion is theor own, one person thinks it's sh**, I think it's good. Whatever, I don't really care and it is good to have more then one opinion being known.
What I think is stupid is when people start to 'force' thier opinions on me. e.g.
ME-I like the album
IDIOT-it's a peece is sh** and i hope they die and burn in hell and get raped by their dads and i hate u coz u like dem, thier stupid and you know it...
ME-Uh... ok... thats your opinion. *End conversation*
IDIOT-ur gay faggit!!!!!11
ME-What?
IDIOT-u lik sh** muzak i hope u die!!!!
ME-Why are you still talking to me?
IDIOT-fuk u dude...
ect. ect.
How sadly accurate(it's not mine btw, I saw that somewhere).
I was never a fan of Judas Priest but it is hard to think of more than two or three bands that don't play pop/dance/r'n'b/rap/boy band crap, that I do not respect.
I always Megadeth were an excellent band but I've always thought something like'I've heard this somewhere before' while listening to them.
BLS though, a perfect example of an excellent band that still kicks-ass.
The thing that Zakk has that most metal bands are missing or not using at least is, a melodic sensability. Many bands nowadays are just making mindless noise(which I still enjoy) but are missing a melodic sensability. If you don't have have it, you're screwed.
Now, I realise people are going to start quoting and giving out to me, but please don't force your opinions on me, and if you must, at least be reasoned and not bias. If I want to argue with somebody like I mentioned above, I will simply ask...

The "mock argument"was pretty insightful and made a lot of sense.
As far as DEADMETAL, and the rest of you who judged the album on a once-over of 2 or 3 songs and your own pre-fabricated ideas, how can you expect your opinion to be worth a sh*t when you don't give the thing your bashing a well-deserved try??? Oh well-- I'm sure you dumb-f**ks will see it sooner or later.....

Queen_Nothing you are a dumb b**** that doesn't know sh** ... i %100 gaurantee i have heard this album more times than you have !! maybe one day you'll realize that you dont know sh** ...

Another way to say that you resort to ''insults'' and ''little words'' because you a)have nothing better to do but insult people over their tastes, and b)don't have big words in your vocabulary.
''WHAT A DUMB FUKK PUS SY ....''
Yeah, you sure told me....
You want something that you can argue with? It's written all over the board moron. People debating and arguing about wether 'VOL. 3' is a good album or not. Some people believe it to be a bad album, that SlipKnot are starting to sell out and making 'soft' music because they are incapable of producing music with such intensity as they have done before. And to a certain point, I agree. I do think they are starting to sell out, and I don't respect them as much as I used to. But incapable of producing music like they did before? I disagree, I simply think they are trying different things...
And most of the board has been taken up with people arguing both points. Yes, I see what you mean, that was worth dragging up.
The band has moved in a different direction, and won't go back to their old way just because a ten year old has started to moan that he doesn't like their new stuff.
