HindustanTimes.com is reporting that MEGADETH, STEVE VAI and BILLY SHEEHAN are among the musicians that are scheduled to perform in India before the end of the year. "The artists have confirmed their tours around the end of the year and Delhi will certainly be part of the plan for some of these stars. Plans are also underway for rock god Eric Clapton's show early next year," says Cyrus Gorimar, proprietor of Opium, the event management firm that is organizing the concerts.
Joe Satriani is scheduled to play in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore on May 13, 15 and 17 respectively. He’ll be accompanied by acknowledged musicians like Jeff Campetelli on drums, Matt Bissonette on bass and Galen Henson on rhythm guitar.
"We are all very excited, as this is our first time in India. So be there," Satriani told HT City.

Thats my fault. Was the weee hours of the morning. What I meant to say was that I would hope Dave Mustaine respects theose who observe the Hindu religion. As he clearly does not respect Satanism, which like all religions should be treated fairly...Though I am not a satanist myself.
As an American, I understand that WE of all people deserve every slang term under the sun directed at us because my fellow Americans in power have become both violent and crazy. I love my country and have been fortunate enough to travel and visit a few others...Just not India yet, though I would love to. However I would never dream of directing slang at anyone of any persuasion.
So Panda, I'm sorry if i insulted you or anyone you know.

Hi RememberMetal. Its very nice and reassuring to see that you've undesrtood the difference. Thanks a lot.
You know, for years there have been people visiting India with very misguided perceptions about religion and spiritualism. Little do (attempt to) realise that Indians are amongst the most practical and realisitic people around.
Do visit India whenever you get the chance - it is a nice place. And you may even get to see a Megadeath concert.

its not only technological development and blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda that got hard rock to India.....its been around for a looooong time......Page n Plant performed in India in 1972, and thats just one example......but metal....this would be one of the first real metal shows by such a big band.....
just mentioning it.....no offence to anyone.....and none taken ;-)
and metal bands in india? loads of them.....a good starting point to listen to some of them would be http://www.rsjonline.com or http://www.gigpad.com ...to name a few good bands, i'd say millenium (they split quite some time back, so pretty difficult to find their music), kryptos, threinody, bhoomi......these guys play good metal stuff......
and of course.....cant wait to see Megadeth...... :-)

Listen to Myndsnare a really good Indian band. I hope this news about Megadeth isnt just another rumour like the one about iron Maiden in 2002 (when only Paul DiAnno came to Pune and last year about Metallica doing a St.Anger Tour). But man a real live metal concert in India!!!! Bloody hell I am going to be there I'll quit college if I have exams but I am going to be there right up in front in the center of the moshpit splitting a few skulls open :)!!!

Its really great that dave mustaine chose us this year eventhough we were following him from the day he started writing pure thrash & speed metal. atlast we can see the definition of speed right in front of our eyes. feels great.
But if it had been the RIP line-up then india would have been second heaven to us. right???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! over the hill musicians is right vivedracul!
I'm happy for you guys out in India. Hopefully Megadeth will go deep into their catalog and play all their good old stuff as well as the handful of new tunes that are good. They have a pretty respectable live sound too.
enjoy!

that's the way to go - the ones who have been here in india; i've never liked most of them; enrique, vengaboys, blue, sting, bryan adams - come on, give me a break -- satriani, roger waters, mark knopfler and deep purple were also here in bangalore . But what we need here is metallica, iron maiden or eminem to get our lazy asses to the show.

Just saw the satriani show. Was pretty good i thought. The audience were quite knowledgable. of course the crowd was not too much. Satriani has a very niche audience and it showed. needs to work on his stage presence to pull in more crowds. Cant wait for megadeth though.
