Ex-Korn Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch Gets Baptized

Band Photo: Korn (?)
According to an article on ChartAttack.com, former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was baptized on Saturday (March 5) at the Jordan River in Israel. A few excerpts from the article:
Welch attended the baptism with about 20 other pilgrims (all dressed in white robes) from his church in Bakersfield, California, under pastor Ron Vietti. Vietti has credited the rocker’s conversion with inspiring young people to go follow him into the arms of J.C.
Of course the hug-happy Welch hasn’t completely changed his identity —like a true Christian bad-ass, he’s commemorated his new beliefs by having "Jesus" tattooed across his knuckles and "Matthew 11:28" inked right across his neck. And while we don’t like to throw around terms like "messiah complex" in the face of this guy’s newfound happiness, he’s also announced plans to release some pretty interesting solo music in the future.

brad, you say "this is a metal site" like it gives you the right to be a f***ing moron because "this is a metal site". you saying that is a disgrace to most of the people on this metal site because unlike you, we listen to metal and still maintain levels of dignity and respect for other human beings. you are extremely immature, especially for someone who is calling us "kids", i'm 22 years old and i am much smarter and more mature than you could ever wish to be. f*** you.

And to ashenthorns, a Christian who listens to Dimmu Borgir?? HAHA! Have fun roasting in a nonexistant hell with me you idiot.

90. writes:
consequently...i said I appreciate dimmu borgir...they dont exactly have a poster on my wall though. they are good musicians and I like how they bring a more symphonic sound to black metal. if they effected my faith i wouldnt listen to them. im not sure how one would in fact roast in a nonexistant hell...but i wont be there if i remain strong in faith and hopefully you wont either. not sure why you felt like being hostile, but its ok man (or woman, if you are in fact a female), this is a "metal" site so i understand. i'll pray for you.

93. writes:
Sorry man, I'm a steadfast atheist and I'm just sick of taking sh**. Don't pray for me, If there is a hell (Which of course I don't believe in), I'll have a first class ticket.
But really brokenwings13, how can a Christian listen to a song about Satan taking over heavan and killing god? Sure they can ignore it but at some point you have to draw the line. (Of sanity lol)

94. writes:
Ignoring it is the problem, what it is for most is that whole "standing up in the face of evil and not being tempted" bit that you use when listening to it.
Oh yeah, and it sounds good. Only a few songs really bug me with the words, but other than that I keep with me the fact that the bands knows there is a God because they're singing about his counterpart, the fallen angel, Satan. And if the hail Satan and don't believe there is a God, then they're just plain ignorant.

95. writes:
thats cool Cynic, thats up to you and i respect that. im just doing what im called to do, not trying to give you "s***". i can't say i that i dont hope that your outlook will change, but at the same time its your life and im not going to tell you how to live it, just how i've experienced it. but if you have any questions about it i'd be glad to answer man, just dont want you to go on uninformed as it were.
about the dimmu thing again, i really dont pay attention much to the lyrics, i like the music more...and about drawing the line, i do as i said earlier, stop listening to something if it affects my faith. i mean though, just because i got saved doesnt mean I'm going to listen to the Newsboys or DC Talk or whatnot.
96. writes:
Yeah, I can enjoy early slayer lyrics cuz I know they were just pissing about (although the hardcore fan base at the time wasn't so happy when they found out). I listen to some other bands like Deicide and co and I can sing the lyrics because I find them harmless. Hail Satan!

Right back at you.
"but if you have any questions about it i'd be glad to answer man"
I am tetering on a scientific assualt, but truly I came here to discuss music. I spend most of my time on the internet disscussing religion and Christianity in an atheistic perspectince and the last thing I want to do is riddle this page with another arguement.
"just dont want you to go on uninformed as it were"
Trust me, I am as (scarily) informed as it is possible to get on the subject.

i cant physically prove that there is a God...but then again, no one can physically prove to me that there isn't...however, about Christ, there are over 20,000 historical documents concerning who he was and what he did...and normally when you have that many documents they tend to contradict one another. But all of the historical documents are 99.9% (thats the actual unbiased statistic) coherent with one another and the mismatches are unconsequential (I think i made that word up). Christ did exist. And the evidence, and the things I've experienced through faith, not through a church or a jesus fish, those things have led me to believe in Christ as the son of God. Yeah um, I've never posted on this site before and I'd just like to say this one thing. Brian is an idiot. I've been a KoRn fan for 11 years (since they came out) and I've got every piece of media ever released by them. Watching Brian in "Who Then Now" was hilarious, and it doesn't make any sense to me why he would go and do something like this. He was a drinking, swearing, piss-happy rocker and now he's got some make-believe God on his side or some sh**. What the f***. KoRn needs another FTL-type album to really set it off for good.

I thought you'd finished riddling this thread with proselytizing bullsh** ashenthorn?? Really, because I know for a fact that while Jesus may have existed as a normal man, the bible makes no mistake in pointing out how many he miraculously cured, not to mention Jehovah many slaughterings like the egyptians. But there are NO records of a single person out of the thousands that were cured were there?? No. Stop being such a crackhead, noone cares about your bullsh** "facts" pulled out of some fundy pamphlet.
By he way I agreed with brad and madk that this is a metal site, not for rap sh**. SO you to, what music do you actually listen to??

123. writes:
Cynic, I stopped talking to you...~*KornGoddess*~ and I were briefly discussing some things...there are a number of different discussions going on on this thread so you dont have to read it if you dont want to...I didn't post it for you so dont worry about it, you can keep discussing your stuff and we will discuss ours...no beef man, just saying that if you can share your beliefs I am free to share mine as well...
btw, I did not pull them out of a pamplet, i actually researched all of this stuff because I was as cynical about it all as you were...and yes, there are records of what he did, both biblical and roman and all sorts of other eyewitnesses...thousands of people witnessed what he did...do you think that if the apostles started preaching about his miracles and they were lying then someone would call them out? no one did. the people there saw what he did, the problem was, those who did not believe simply didn't know where his power came from. Also, no archeological find has ever contradicted the bible. You can research all of it if you want. We all draw our conclusions from the evidence we have. I'm not mad at you Cynic because I've been where you are. A "steadfast atheist" and even a satanist. I thought I had the right information but I didn't. Beyond religious pamplets and athiest pamplets I'm just trying to help people man. If they don't want help that's fine, but for those out there that want I am showing them a way out of the pain and misery they are in. To show them that someone cares about them and loves them and can change thier life. I'm not out to brainwash or get money or anything other than to show people the happiness that they can have. Have a good day Cynic.

No, but you see I feel obliged to reply when someone says something I think is false and feel strongly about. Its fine to discuss whatn you want sure, but this is an open forum and I will make my opinion heard if I feel the need to.
And people do call them out. Everyday. Do you not think that the over the long period the Church has reign they did not brutally supress other opinions and religions? Tell me why there are no egytian records of every first born son dying in their kingdom? 20,000 documents are certainly alot, can you point me in the direction of one located on the net that isn't biblical?
What about evolutional archeological finds? Do they not contradict creationism?
I doubt you have ever been in my mind set my friend. Because I am well informed. From what you have said it seems you turn away from religion out of spite, not true belief. This makes us very different. I have pondered these thoughts for years, and there are hundreds of points that I could make for the rejection of any sort of caring creator, let alone the abomination of a religion that is Christianity.
Donate all of your time to charity if you want to be helpful, don't blatently proselytize on internet forums. Your intentions seem pure, but you seemed to make the massive misjudement that all who choose not to believe are in pain and misery.

128. writes:
It's cool, by all means make your opinion heard...otherwise there would be no point to a forum...
Yes, terrible stuff has been carried out in the name of religion but terrible things have also been carried out in the name of getting rid of it (the holocaust to the jews for example)...we are humans and humans have weaknesses...however, most of the crimes committed by the church were committed not so much by christians but by people who were appointed bishops by freinds and as means of monatary gain. (being a bishop used to be very lucrative)...Christianity has spent the last few hundred years trying to make up for that but it will always be a stain on the church as a body...thats just the way it is...
here are two links that have pretty much the same info but a little more in depth in different areas

I'll find you more if you want but at the moment I don't have the time...
on evolution, I believe in adaption but not evolution...its obvious that animals adapt to their surroundings but at the same time, it is impossible for organic matter to come from non-living matter...also, i believe in Gods design he made animals to adapt...i just think it makes God's creation more incredible...Even Darwin on his deathbed renounced his theory of evolution stating "How I wish I had not expressed my theory of evolution as I have done"...at its roots, evolution and the scientific origins of the universe make no sense...if there was a big bang, where did that matter come from?...When I look around at the complexity of everything, and well everything interacts and has its place and how the slightest change in anything could destroy life totally, it only furthers my belief in Creationsism/Intellegent Design/ or Whatever...
As to the mindset, I turned away out of true belief...I was convinced...as for the abomination of the religion of christianity...i think i may agree with you...religion is the worst thing that ever happened to christianity...true christianity is about a relationship with christ and a change in your life and being a servant to others...I probably get just as sick, if not sicker of the people on late night christian television who always seem to just have pledge drives and have spent at least a thousand dollars on hair products and makeup...thats the abomination...you simply see it as b.s...i see it as something i care about with all my heart being stained by its own adherents...so we agree on at least one thing...
I know that not everyone who is a non-christian is a hurting weak person...it would be stupid to assume so...but I also know that those people are out there and I saw this as an opportunity, if there were any here to share something with them...witnessing is not about forcing anything, im just trying to show another side of life to them...i originally posted to try and add another side to the discussion and its kind of grown which if fine because we have gotten to debate and its something i like to do and from what i gather you do as well...
But for now I must get going, i think i forgot a few things but ill cover them next time i post...have a nice day man...its nice to debate with someone who does research...

129. writes:
The one paragraph got some stuff left out...heres the paragraph in its entirety..

Honestly, I couldn't care what religion has done right or wrong in the past. I care what it is doing to the world and me at the moment. Why? Because I can debate the harm its done but that doesn't go any way to proving the fact that it is convoluted and basely.
Here is something very important I want you to read. Darwin did not renounce his belief in evolution. That is a lie spread by an evangelist. The fact that you mentioned it tells me where you get your information.
I do not want to discuss either evolution or the big bang with you for to reasons. I came here to talk about metal, and I could argue with every Christian on the net extensively, there are hundreds of topics I could chose from Jesus false prohecy to the Problem of Evil. But I don't want to. You all present the same theories and I would spend days explaining the ins and outs of evolution only to be presented with crackers like "I just believe" and "Jesus loves you, why do you hate him?". I do not wish to repeat this process with you, even though you seem more intelligent than others I have met recently, and your last comment was nice, but I must decline the offer to debate.
The point is is that my base for rejecting religion has little to do with its atrocitys and human faults. It is to do with evidence and common sense in relation to existance of a benevolent creator.

131. writes:
then we agree to disagree...if someone asks me a question i will answer them but im not going to bring the subject up with you anymore...
incidentally i did a little more research on the darwin thing, and i dont know about it, so im not going to go either way, but i still believe the system flawed...but after a little more research i will concede that one to you...
"even though you seem more intelligent than others I have met recently, and your last comment was nice, but I must decline the offer to debate."
thank you very much i appreciate that...
unless we talk on a band or something i doubt we will speak much again so it has been nice debating with you...
