Cristina Scabbia Talks About The Jagermeister Tour

LACUNA COIL will embark on the latest installment of the Jägermeister Music Tour this spring alongside Stone Sour and Shadows Fall. The trek, which kicks off on March 23rd and runs through early May, is the group's fourth U.S. run in support of their Karmacode album. They will be swapping out the direct support slot with Shadows Fall in certain markets, so please see the tour section for the itinerary and full breakdown.

"It's about time!" says Scabbia about being part of the Jager Tour. "It'll be a blast, and you guys can't miss it cause it's going to be the tour of the year! See you all there... spread the word...and horns up, my friends."

The tour also coincides with the launch of their new single for the track "Within Me." This is the fourth single from Karmacode, and a new video for the track will be shot in Italy early next month.

LACUNA COIL wrapped up 2006 with a U.S. tour as direct support to In Flames with The Sword and Seemless in the support slots. This was preceded by a highly successful run on the annual Blackest of the Black tour alongside the legendary Danzig, labelmates The Haunted, Belphegor and Asesino. Other numerous highlights of this past year included a main stage Ozzfest slot, a sold-out tour with Rob Zombie, a performance on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live and a Top 30 Active Rock hit single, "Our Truth."

Stone Sour to Headline Spring Jagermeister Tour

Stone Sour will lead the charge on this year's Jägermeister Music Tour - their first headlining tour in support of latest album Come What(ever) May, and featuring special guests Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall. The Tour kicks off on March 23rd in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Fresh from their sold-out European/UK tour, Grammy-nominated Stone Sour is primed to capture the attention and the hearts of the rock ‘n roll masses. The band is a multi-faceted hard rock force of nature whose twisting melodies run the gamut of emotions. Stone Sour were the band to see at last summer's Family Values Tour where they performed with Korn and The Deftones, and, more recently, the band toured with Disturbed to rave reviews. Come What(ever) May is already certified gold and on its way to platinum.

"This has been something we have been looking forward to for a very long time." says Stone Sour vocalist, Corey Taylor. "Having done this tour before, I can honestly say it's like nothing I've ever experienced. It's our time, and we're coming for you."

The Tour will rock through May and each show will be rounded out with a local Jägermeister band. Going on six years, the Jägermeister Music Tour is bigger and bolder than ever, becoming THE hard rock show to see. Produced by Live Nation, past Tours have brought Disturbed, Slayer, Slipknot, Staind and Hatebreed, to the masses, and now the Tour continues its hard rock charge. More...

Jason Bittner Resurrects Death Metal Project

SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner has resurrected his previous band BURNING HUMAN and is currently rehearsing and writing for a studio session in late February. The group's debut album is not expected to surface until late summer at the earliest.

In the latter half of the 1990s, BURNING HUMAN was a deathcore/death metal four-piece from the "Capital District" region of New York (Albany, Troy, Schenectady). Ignited in 1995, BURNING HUMAN's lineup consisted of Bittner (currently in SHADOWS FALL, ex-STIGMATA, CRISIS) on drums, Jason Sunkes (currently in DEAD RABBITS, ex-STIGMATA) on guitar, Jay VanDervoort on bass, and Jonah Radaelli on vocals.

Shortly after forming, BURNING HUMAN recorded and released a seven-song demo tape titled "Death is Mercy". These songs were later released on a compilation CD titled "We the People: A Compilation of Upstate NY's Hardest" with three other bands from the Troy/Albany, New York area (WAR-TIME MANNER, POLITICS OF CONTRABAND, DYING BREED). Although the band never issued a full-length album, a number of additional tracks were recorded and released on various compilation CDs, including a song called "Hazards to Humans" on a sampler titled "Capitol Punishment" in 1997. In addition, two songs — "As Good As Dead" and "Tormented Mind" — were featured on the "Frozen Dawn IV" compilation CD in 1998, and "Self-Inflicted Crucifixion" appeared on "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" in 1998.

Shadows Fall Drop Off Tour To Wrap Up Recording

Atlantic Recording Group Shadows Fall has reluctantly decided that the intensity of their current recording sessions has made it impossible for the band to hit the concert trail next month for their previously announced shows with Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead. The Springfield, MA-based rock outfit is hard at work in the studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Rush) recording their highly anticipated Atlantic debut, due in early 2007.

"We are all very disappointed that we will not be able to hit the road with our friends in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead," said Shadows Fall lead singer Brian Fair.

"Originally, we had hoped to complete the recording of our new album in time for the beginning of the tour on November 9th, but now it appears that will not be possible. New ideas have continued to surface and push the songs into new directions that we have to pursue. Making the best album possible is our number one priority and something we must focus on one hundred percent at this time. We sincerely apologize to all the people that planned on coming to see us at these shows, but our absence is no reason not to go and support this tour. Our bros from New England in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead will be throwing it down the way only they can and this should not be missed by anyone!! We will keep you posted as we wrap up the album and make plans to get back on the road."

The Killswitch Engage/Bury Your Dead itinerary will begin as scheduled on November 9th at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, NC, with dates continuing through December 20th at Lupo's at The Strand in Providence, RI. Massachusetts' All That Remains will be part of the tour's lineup through the November 26th show at the Big Easy Concert House in Spokane, WA.

Shadows Fall Begin Recording New Album

Atlantic recording group SHADOWS FALL is currently in the studio recording their highly anticipated major label debut with producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR, RUSH). The still untitled project is the Grammy-nominated band's follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed "The War Within", and its companion release, 2006's "Fallout From The War", both released on Century Media Records.

After headlining this summer's Sthress Tour with such supporting acts as SUFFOCATION and POISON THE WELL, SHADOWS FALL headed straight back to their rehearsal space to begin pre-production. Today, September 18, the band enters Studio 606 in Northridge, CA to begin recording. Says singer Brian Fair, "I cannot wait to finally get this started! We have been working on these songs for the past few months in the practice space and are ready to lay them down in the studio. Pre-production with Nick has been amazing. He is definitely on the same page as us, musically and personally. He is a lifelong fan of metal but also has a great understanding of rock and roll, which complements our style and sound perfectly." Raskulinecz adds, "I've wanted to work with this band for years and had to bug the hell out of them until they said yes. We're going to tighten the songs so that every riff, every lyric, every drum hit counts on this record, and really focus on the songwriting to make it a force to be dealt with."

Shadows Fall Enters The Studio

Shadows Fall entered the studio in late-August to begin pre-production for their new album, and Atlantic Records debut. Here's an update from drummer Jason Bittner:

"Well everyone, as of 2 weeks ago we started pre-production for our new album with our producer Nick Raskulinecz. He flew out from LA on a Monday evening, and by Tuesday afternoon we were in our rehearsal room slowly dissecting all of the material that we currently have written for our Atlantic debut.

First off, I think everyone was impressed...Nick was pretty stoked with our material and ambitions, and the band was extremely excited and impressed by Nick's ideas, let alone his never-ending enthusiasm! We put a solid 6 hours in the 1st day just jamming and revamping. Later on that night brought a well-deserved evening at the bar discussing what we would do once we got in the studio.

Day 2 brought the seeds for 2 more new songs, as well as a day of actually demoing the tunes for the first time in their new forms. At this point everyone was shot, so we all decided to be smart, stay in and get some rest.

Day 3 brought another new song to the table...Matt, Jon, and Paul had a wedding to go to so we ended early, I went home to NY and Brian and Nick worked on vox for the rest of the day.

The last day, I was informed that it was going to be a vocal day only, so I stayed home to rest my arm which at this point was hamburger (Damn tendonitis!!)!! At the end of the day, Brian had a good 7 tunes demoed out vocally with some great new ideas, and Nick got on a flight back to LA.

All in all, we had a great 1st run. We can't stop talking about how much we think Nick is helping to add some more dimension to this band that we never thought existed, but don't start worrying yet, we're not cutting our hair and selling out, this record is still going to be heavy as hell!"

This Week In Metal - August 31st, 2006 *Late*

Im aware of the fact that its a little late, and pushed closely together with TWIM for 9-8-06 but nonetheless I would hate to see you guys miss out on a week of news. So without further ado the records chart courtesy of CMJ :

RankL/WBandAlbumWeeksPeak
13HatebreedSupremecy21
22SlayerChrist Illusion 32
31SYLThe New Black41
44All That RemainsThe Fall of Ideals42
56The Human AbstractNocturne35
6-Bury Your DeadBeauty & The Breakdown26
7 *GwarBeyond Hell17
85UnearthIII: The Eyes Of Fire35
94VoivodKatorz36
107Shadows FallFallout From The War41

Hatebreed becomes our third #1 ever, beyond Shadows Fall and SYL. It is amazing for them as a band to completly jump Slayer. All That Remains maybe just hitting stride in their young career, the success of this album and the sales and touring they are doing are pushing them over the top of their genre. Bury Your Dead returns to the chart with strong sales following a bouncey chart release. And the boys from Shadows Fall look like their run of 4 weeks in the chart might end as they slip to the #10 slot.

Onto the singles, courtesy of MusicMatch:

RankL/WBandSongWeeksPeak
15Stone Sour30-30/15041
21UnearthThe Glorious Nightmare31
38SYLYou Suck33
43The Human AbstractCrossing the Rubicon22
54MastodonThe Wolf Is Loose24
69Shadows FallWill To Rebuild41
7-BTBAMMalpractice17
86Lamb of GodRedneck42
97All That RemainsThis Calling27
1010SlayerCult31

Not much change to the charts other then that of Stone Sour resurging to the #1 slot after never reaching it within the first four weeks. Between The Buried and Me makes a debut with Malpractice and the bottom of the chart holds strong with Slayer staying in the #10 slot. All four #1's in the charts 4 weeks remain, including the only 2 songs to be on all 4 weeks.
