Aborted Drops Off North American Tour
Goremasters Aborted have cancelled their North American tour plans. In regards to this cancellation, front-man Sven de Caluwé comments:
"Unfortunately rumors are true. We were forced to pull out of our North American tour with Hypocrisy, Krisiun, and Arsis. Due to reasons beyond control, Hypocrisy was not able to receive US visas in time and had to pull out.
"We only found out 3 days ago and were sharing transport with Hypocrisy. Being this close to the start of tour, finding an affordable method of transportation and a driver was a near impossible task, making it impossible for us to still make it. We are extremely disappointed as we were very excited to make it back out to the US for our fans and share the stage on this great line-up.
"We had flights booked, visas processed, and everything was good to go, so when the news hit, it came as a shock. This cost us several thousands of dollars out of our own pockets and continuing would cost us even more money, which we simply don't have. We apologize to the fans and are already looking for a replacement tour in the near future.
"Krisiun and Arsis are still doing the tour, and we urge you all to still go and support them. All the bands here are victims in this of bureaucratic procedures, so no need to point fingers. We are all as broken by this as anyone else."
Brazil's Krisiun will now headline this North American trek with Arsis as direct support (Autumns End and Starkill will also play select shows). The newly revamped itinerary can be found here.
Aborted Comments On Artwork Plagiarism
MetalSucks.net recently ran an article about Justin Osbourn of Slasher Design plagiarizing artwork for album covers, and the band Aborted has now posted the following statement regarding plagiarized art gracing the cover of latest album "Global Flatline" (reviewed here):
"Okay, After all this ranting and the artwork for Global Flatline being one of the most prominent images in the article about plagiarism from Slasher Design, we decided to put a statement up regarding this. Honestly we did not want to get involved but everyone bringing it up all the time by either posts or private messages is getting out of control.
"People are starting to blame the band. When a band commissions an artist for original art and pays their hard earned money on it (and trust me this was not cheap artwork) only to find out a year later about this plagiarism thing: the bands are the biggest victims in this story. We had no idea about any of this and loved the artwork when we got it, assuming it was all hand painted and original artwork for our record. Now this is all tainted with a bitter after taste for all of us, we have merchandise printed with this, stage banners and what not.
"All we can ask from our fans is to be understanding of the matter and know that we feel cheated even more. We are still very proud of the album and nothing will change that in the end.
"Thank you all for understanding & the support, see you guys on tour later this month!" More...

The Occupation Domination Tour Invades New Jersey
On Sunday, April 22, New Jersey was home for one night to some of the premier death metal bands in the world for the Occupation Domination tour. Featuring the likes of Aborted, Decrepit Birth, Cattle Decapitation, and Origin, this package had something for every fan of death metal. The tour came at the tail-end of a day-long metal festival that was going on at the venue. By the time the first band on the tour package, Battlecross, hit the stage around 6:30, some audience members had been there for almost six hours. That didn’t affect the early bands too much, but the later ones would see how having 12 hours of live metal can impact a crowd. More...

Forgotten Tomb Confirmed For Extremefest 2012
Extremefest 2012 will take place in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on the following dates:
5. July 2012 - 7. July 2012 DE – Hünxe, ExtremeFest Germany
5. July 2012 - 7. July 2012 AT – Salzburg, ExtremeFest Austria
5. July 2012 – 7. July 2012 CH – Pratteln, ExtremeFest Switzerland
The organizers of Extremefest have now issued the following announcement about confirming Forgotten Tomb and Ultrawurscht:
"Forgotten Tomb been around since 1999 and the Italians have caused quite a stir in the black and dark metal underground! 'Songs To Leave' (2002) or 'Love`s Burial Ground' (2004) are rightfully considered milestones of melancholic dark metal that the fourpiece infuses with doom and black metal elements. In 2011, Forgotten Tomb released their most recent effort 'Under Saturn Retrograde' and fans can look forward to one of the rare appearances of the Italians at the Austrian and German editions of Extremefest!
"It´s all about the sausage with Bavarian / Austrian act Ultrawurscht! Their highly explosive mixture of death metal, grind and hardcore – or simply 'Wurschtcore' – will one day conquer the world, and if you had the chance to check out albums such as 'Cheese Ass Built My Hot Dog' you`ll agree! Mixing metal and sausages should be declared a form of art anyway, so slap some wieners on the grill before checking out Ultrawurscht`s exclusive set at the Austrian edition of the Extremefest 2012!"
