Aspera Changes Name To Above Symmetry

Last year Norwegian act Aspera announced it would be changing names due to copyright issues. The band has now announced its new name will officially be Above Symmetry. The "Ripples" album will now also be re-released under the new name on April 25th, 2011. The updated album cover artwork can be viewed below.

Commenting on having to change the name, Above Symmetry vocalist Atle Pettersen commented, "It's just one of those things, but it's not something that we're going to let get to us, or to detract from what we do. It's unfortunate, yes, because we were doing so well under our previous name, getting such good reviews and things, but you've just got to shrug your shoulders and carry on. It's the same band with the same musicians - all that's changed is the name. And at the end of the day it's our music that counts!"

Aspera Cancels Prog Power Appearance

Norway's Aspera has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's previously announced appearance at the 2010 edition of the Prog Power Europe festival:

"It is with great regret, that Norwegian 5 piece Aspera have to cancel their performance at Prog Power Europe on 3rd October. The band has been really looking forward to playing for the first time in the Netherlands, especially after the overwhelming feedback of debut album Ripples, that was released via InsideOut Music earlier this year.

"Unfortunately there are sometimes developments in a bands life that are neither planned, not foreseeable. And although we tried to accommodate this along the festival performance, we were not able to work it out. But don't worry, it will be some exciting news and we will update you very shortly.

"We would like to apologize to the festival organizer, who gave us the opportunity to be part of this prestigious Prog Metal Festival. And we also want to thank all our supporters that were looking forward to our performances and hope you will have a great time with great bands! We hope to see you all on the road in the near future. In the meantime, stay tuned for some exciting announcements coming soon!"
