Whitechapel Joins Forces With Trivium

Whitechapel will spend this fall bringing their energetic live show to fans across the US with metal heavy weights, Trivium, on their headlining tour. The band has been opening the festivities on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem fest as the opening act on the Hot Topic stage alongside label mates Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, and more.

Whitechapel comments: "Mayhem is going amazing so far, we couldn't have asked for a better line up of bands to be touring with and better crowd responses. Fans are going off across the U.S. in every city and we are loving it. It's definitely the best tour we have ever done and are going to be super bummed when it's over!

When we got the offer for these dates with Trivium we were really excited. We've been hanging out with the Trivium dudes on Mayhem and have been having a blast, so naturally the good times will continue on with this upcoming tour. It's a perfect opportunity for us to deliver the same pummeling live show we gave these fans at Mayhem in a smaller more intimate club setting."

Trivium Announces North American Tour

Trivium has announced an upcoming North American tour titled "Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour." Supporting acts will include Whitechapel, Darkest Hour, and Dirge Within.

Trivium’s Matt Heafy has this to comment about the tour: “North American headline tour... we meet again. It's been far too long since we've toured North America as a headliner and we're back with a vengeance. It's our time to come in for the final waves of 'Shogun' touring and party with our friends in the USA and Canada. Our live show, without a doubt in my mind, is now the strongest it has ever been; our sets are more diverse, tighter than ever and we've got some of the sickest current metal bands out with us to bring you one hell of a tour. This very well could be the last one for a while, so let's do this in style... we'll see you soon."

The currently confirmed dates are as follows, with more dates coming soon: More...

Summer Slaughter Murders New Orleans

The Summer Slaughter Fest is correctly named. When the tour arrives in your town, prepare for a bloodbath of immense proportions. Decibel, Affliction and Fangoria bring you a huge tour consisting of Blackguard, Decrepit Birth, After the Burial, Beneath the Massacre, Origin, Born of Osiris, Dying Fetus, Winds of Plague, Darkest Hour, Ensiferum, Suffocation, and Necrophagist with Behemoth joining the show on some dates. Impressed? Did I also mention that the ticket prices are extremely affordable to fit into your budget during this economic downturn? That’s a deal you can’t beat. So if you’re lucky enough to have a Slaughter in your town this summer, I suggest you don’t miss it.

In the sweltering, higher-than-average heat of New Orleans, the Summer Slaughter Tour stops to do a little killing. It wasn’t an official stop, but I would like to thank all of the bands for taking their day off to rock our town. The madness began at three o’clock. All of the bands kicked ass for about half an hour each. Blackgaurd, After the Burial, Origin, Beneath the Massacre and Darkest Hour were all incredible. Their merchandise was also very interesting, but with so many bands, I couldn’t afford it all. Music was blaring from the small tunnel-shaped hall that could be heard blocks away. Band members, roadies and helpful fans were constantly moving equipment in and out to accommodate the large number of bands. Yes, it was a bit hectic. But it all added to the excitement and fun nature of the show. More...

Winds of Plague Preparing For Summer Slaughter

In February of last year, WINDS OF PLAGUE exploded onto the metal scene as the frontrunner of the new generation of heavy music. With their innovative and high energy style, the band captivated audiences across the US and sold upwards of 50,000 units of their Century Media debut album, "Decimate the Weak." WINDS OF PLAGUE is now heading back in the studio with the goal being to redefine extreme all over again.

WINDS OF PLAGUE has now entered Sound Temple Studios in Ranch Cucamonga, CA with producer extraordinaire Daniel Castleman, who worked with the band on Decimate the Weak, to record The Great Stone War. WINDS OF PLAGUE is also extremely excited to be on board as part of the summer’s most extreme package tour, SUMMER SLAUGHTER, alongside Suffocation, Necrophagist, Darkest Hour and others. Dates for the trek are posted below and available at the band’s MySpace page (below). More blockbuster touring is in the works that will see the band through the rest of 2009!

Vocalist Johnny Plague comments: “This week we lock ourselves inside Sound Temple Studios in Rancho Cucamonga, CA with the up and coming recording wizard Daniel Castleman. We will leave a month later drained and beat but with a new 12 track full length named The Great Stone War. This is the first time we have had to create an album from scratch so we took advantage of the situation and built a themed, well constructed album compared to Decimate The Weak which I feel was more of a collection of songs.”

Darkest Hour Issues Album And Tour Update

Darkest Hour has issued the following statement about their upcoming album and touring schedule:

"Darkest Hour, the Washington D.C. powerhouse metal quintet, will proudly release their fifth full-length record, The Eternal Return, June 23, 2009 on Victory Records. The band tapped producer Brian McTernan (Senses Fail, Thrice, From Autumn to Ashes) and recorded at his Baltimore, MD-based Salad Days Studio. Guitarist Mike Schleibaum comments, “To put it simply, this is a metal record made by dudes who have dedicated half of our lives to aggressive, unrelenting music.”

“It’s been a long road, but we have finally completed work on our new record, The Eternal Return,” added Schleibaum. “I am very proud of the hard work and passion that both the band and producer Brian McTernan poured into this. After 14 years, we’ve decided there’s no reason to put out DARKEST HOUR records other then for ourselves and for the people that love this band. This record has no hidden agenda, no pop hit, or stylistic departure to broaden the fan base. Rather, it is a sick thrash, speed, melodic, metal record! It feels like it has all the aggression and speed of our Hidden Hands… record, the melody and songwriting of Undoing Ruin, and the technicality and musicianship of Deliver Us. We encourage anyone who has loved our records in the past or present to check it out. And if you’ve never found something that’s connected with you in a DARKEST HOUR record before, then take some time to listen to this one, because this is a defining DARKEST HOUR record… We look forward to playing new songs on our upcoming European tour with Bleeding Through and on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour! See ya in the pit!”

"Fans will surely not be let down by this upcoming album, and prior to its release in the states, DARKEST HOUR will head over to Europe on the Thrash and Burn Tour on a co-headlining stint with Bleeding Through, with support from Beneath the Massacre, Carnifex and more. More...

God Forbid Confirms Guitarists Departure

New Jersey metal group God Forbid has confirmed that guitarist Dallas Coyle has left the band. They also announced that former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris will be his replacement. A message from band member Doc Coyle reads:

"There have been a barrage of rumors and questions on whether or not Dallas has left God Forbid. It's true that Dallas has left the band. It's taken us a few days to confirm this definitely, and figure out what we were going to do considering the fact that we are starting a very important tour with LAMB OF GOD this week.

"I don't want to go into the hairy details, but all I can say is that there was a mutual disagreement between Dallas and I, and the disagreement became angry on both sides, and he decided to sit out the tour the day we were supposed to leave. We later learned he did not want to tour anymore at all. Everyone in the band, including myself was upset and shocked. For me, it's a lot tougher because he's my brother and I have a very close bond with him. We've done everything together our whole lives, so it's difficult to deal with emotionally but I understand he has bigger responsibilities at home to care for. I wish he would've handled it in a different way, but I am not angry at him for leaving if he is unhappy with our situation. I really hope he finds success and happiness in his future pursuits.

"In the meantime, we've recruited ex-Darkest Hour shredder, Kris Norris, to fill in for the tour. We are currently doing a few warm up shows as a four-piece to meet the LOG tour in Phoenix, AZ on April 2nd. Kris will be there for the start of the LOG tour though. I've been friends with Kris for years, and have an immense amount of respect for his playing. I look forward to playing with him, and I'm sure he will knock it out the park! Byron and I will pick up the slack with the vocals as much as we can. Thanks for everyone's continued support, and we'll see you on the road!"
