Background
The thrash metal sound of Slayer was formed in Huntington Beach, CA in 1982. Comprising Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Jeff Hanneman (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums), they made their debut in 1983, with a track on the compilation Metal Massacre III. After that the rest has been history. The band played at breakneck speed with amazing technical precision, but the intricacies of detail were lost in a muddy production. Araya's lyrics dealt with death, carnage, Satanism and torture, but were reduced to an indecipherable guttural howl. But this chaos called music is what set the ways for Slayer and many bands to follow.
Through the years, Slayer has been hit with much controversy over their lyrics, including lawsuits. But through the years Slayer has managed to build a following from coast to coast. Slayer has played such tours as Monsters of Rock, Ozzfest, and recently toured the U.S. co-headling with Pantera.
Now almost 20 years later, Slayer is still playing just as hard as ever. Will Slayer ever stop? Not likely, considering they are keeping up with thrash bands half their age, after all they did start it!

Deftones Charity Auction For Chi Launched
The previously announced charity auction for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng went live earlier in the week. Chi has been in a semi-conscious state since being involved in a horrific accident in November 2008, and his family has accumulated an overwhelming amount of medical bills that insurance does not entirely cover. It is Deftones' mission to raise significant funds to help ensure Chi's recovery by playing two very special benefit shows in Hollywood on 11/19 and 11/20, and also by launching a benefit auction in conjunction with CharityBuzz.com.
More information has been revealed on the stuff being auctioned. The auction features many special items generously donated by an array of Deftones' friends including Metallica, System of a Down, Blink 182, HIM, Slayer and many more.
Some highlights include:
-A day in the studio with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 to produce a track for your band
-Flyaway to Helsinki, Finland to attend HIM's sold-out New Year's Eve show. Includes meet-and-greet with the band, round-trip flight, and hotel for two nights.
-Signed ESP guitar from Metallica
-John Dolmayan's (System of a Down) personal Tama drum kit, autographed by John
-Signed gear from Deftones
-Signed Slayer motorcycle helmet autographed by members of Slayer
-Pair of three-day general admission and VIP passes to Coachella Festival 2010
-Autographed ESP guitar from My Chemical Romance
In addition to the items already launched today, another batch of items will launch next Tuesday, November 24th. The auction can be found at CharityBuzz.com/BenefitforChi and will conclude on December 8th.
Slayer Adds Extra "American Carnage" Tour Date
Apparently, twenty-five cities just wasn't enough for Megadeth and Slayer on their upcoming "American Carnage" North American tour which kicks off on January 18 in Seattle. The co-headliners announced today that one more date has been added to the itinerary - the bands will play Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, New York on February 12.
Yesterday, Slayer and Megadeth announced that they will tour the U.S. together for the first time in nearly two decades, with Testament as special guest. The now 26-date trek will include the six "Canadian Carnage" dates that had been postponed earlier this month due to Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya's back problem. According to Slayer's manager, Rick Sales, "Tom continues to recover and is improving more and more every day, so I think by the time January 18 rolls around, he'll be ready for some carnage."

Slayer, Megadeth To Co-Headline "American Carnage"
Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline "American Carnage" across North America this winter. "American Carnage" will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presage for most shows from Wednesday, November 18 at 10AM until Thursday, November 19 at 10PM.
"American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the "1991 price" of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they're gone, they're gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.
In addition, Testament, who was also on the '91 "Clash of the Titans" bill, will be special guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a "must see" metal event.
Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, "Endgame," and Slayer's "World Painted Blood," the band's 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3. Testament's "The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition," will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.
Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed in October.
Slayer and Megadeth are also rescheduling the east coast leg of the "Canadian Carnage" tour, postponed from this fall.

Slayer Postpones European Tour
Slayer has issued the following announcement about postponing their upcoming European tour dates:
"It is with immense disappointment that Slayer must postpone its UK and European tour that had been set to kick off on November 18 in the UK, and take the band on 19 dates through Europe, ending on December 17 in Germany. The tour will be rescheduled to kick off on 3/7 in Manchester, England (complete itinerary is below). Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya has been under the care of a specialist for a back injury, and while he has already made substantial improvement, he is continuing on widoctor-prescribed treatment."
"Right now," said Slayer's manager, Rick Sales, "our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom, so we have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health."
Last week, Slayer announced the postponement of its east coast "Canadian Carnage" co-headline tour with Megadeth; those dates will be rescheduled in February 2010.

Six Feet Under Announces "Graveyard Classics 3"
Florida death metallers Six Feet Under are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, "Graveyard Classics 3," due out on Metal Blade Records January 19th 2010. "Graveyard Classics 3" was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes.
Here's what Chris Barnes has to say about the band's latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain: "We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU ‘death groove' style. Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians. To sum it up... this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy. "
Track listing for "Graveyard Classics 3" will be as follows: More...

"While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon."
