Darkane Reveals "Demonic Art" Tracklisting

Swedish thrashers DARKANE have issued the following update:

"Finally the mixing of [the new DARKANE album] 'Demonic Art' is completed and the album is being mastered right now. 12 songs ended up on the final version, with about 48 minutes of pure aggressive, brutal, melodic, modern, technical, furious, fast, heavy and insane thrash metal! We are very proud of this album and we know for sure that if you liked what we've done before you won't be disappointed in any way this time either. DARKANE has developed in a way that hopefully will give us new fans as well, not meaning that we've turned softer or more mainstream... just better! ...and more humble."

This is the final track listing for Darkane's "Demonic Art":

1. Variations of an Eye Crush (instrumental)
2. Leaving Existence
3. Demonic Art
4. Absolution
5. Execution 44
6. Impetious Constant Chaos
7. Demigod
8. Soul Survivor
9. The Killing of I
10. Wrong Grave (instrumental)
11. Still in Progress
12. Wrath Connection

"We also have another song for the Japanese edition called 'Reborn In Greed' (as you know by now they always require an extra track).

"This upcoming Friday, we are going to play our dear hometown Helsingborg again together with SOILWORK and other great bands. We are going to play 'Leaving Existence' from the new album for the first time. The show will be held at Gröningen and since it's a part of our town festival there's no entrance fee.

"In other news, DARKANE are very impressed by this guy playing our song 'Secondary Effects' on his own created Guitar Hero: Metal Edition! Check out the video below. This is a custom game for Guitar Hero II on the PS2. He created a full game including 64 songs by metal bands who have never been in Guitar Hero before, new pictures for every menu screen, and even some new characters.

"To play this game, you must follow the instructions given on the Guitar Hero: Metal Edition website, and then play the burned disk in a modded PS2. If you're into Guitar Hero, and into metal, this game is crammed full of songs you'll love playing. Here's the link." More...

Darkane Post Studio Video Diary Part 5 Online

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"Welcome to the fifth video blog post. Thanks to you who have followed us so far!"

"This post differs a little from earlier posts since I got so tired of us being filmed in the same room over and over, so I decided to take our great camera guy Per out to show you what our hometown Helsingborg looks like."

"If you are a fan of DARKANE/ SOILWORK/ THE DEFACED/ TERROR 2000 or any other Helsingborg-based band you might enjoy seeing what the streets look like where we wandered around as teenagers dreaming of playing the big stages. So this is not an ordinary video blog post with us working in the studio. More studio footage will come up soon for sure. And... if you see anything in my car that is not metal... I can only blame my wife!" More...

Darkane Post Studio Video Diary Part 4 Online

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"So the fourth video diary is done. It includes the rhythm guitar recording and all that goes along with that. An in-depth explanation of what equipment we used as well as some furious riffs by Klas [Ideberg, guitar] and Christofer [Malmström, guitar]. Hope this makes you all excited for the upcoming CD!

"As I said in an earlier blog, we're a bit behind with the video diaries than what's actually happening in the studio. So today we finished the vocal recordings and we're very happy with the result! Jens [Broman] has done a tremendous job and puts a new dimension to the DARKANE sound. He has nailed 12 songs and has delivered greatly on all of them. Most likely is that 10 songs end up on the CD and two songs will be used for limited versions and such. Also almost all guitar solos are done. I guess Christofer and Klas have two more solos each to record. This will be done during the next couple of days. The solos so far sound great! Tomorrow I will start preparing for the mix and will start mixing the drums later this week, looking forward to that a lot. We have 36 channels of drums so there will be lots to do, ha ha!"

Darkane Guitarist Christopher Malstrom Checks In

DARKANE guitarist Christofer Malmström has posted this message on his MySpace page:

"Greetings!

As you might know by now DARKANE is recording our fifth yet untitled album. We've been living in the studio for about five weeks now, and hopefully everything will be recorded and ready to be mixed when this week is over. We have a guy named Per following every step we take in the studio with a video camera and putting up video diary blogs every now and then, along with studio reports from Peter Wildoer (drums). So far three of them are up and the fourth (including guitar recording) will be up later this week. Check them out at Darkane.com. Our forum is also back online, so feel free to pay a visit and discuss the video blogs or anything else regarding DARKANE.

Jens (Broman) is recording the vocals this week and I will probably record my last three solos tomorrow. I've got a new Ibanez guitar last week. This time it's a RG2610 BK Prestige, and I really love it! It's a little cheaper version of the RG3120 with only one humbucker pickup and no tone control or switch... but who needs that when it's METAL!! I like it a lot and will probably use it as my main live guitar from now on.

Speaking of live, when the mixing is done we are gonna take a trip to beautiful Chicago IL and play the Chicago Powerfest (May 2-3) together with bands such as TESTAMENT and ICED EARTH. We are really looking forward to this! See you there!

So take a look at the DARKANE video diaries and tell all your friends about them.

I'm about to watch the soccer game between Brazil and Sweden now. I know we will lose but I've bet money on Sweden to win just for the sake of it... I'm not a good gambler.

See you!"

Darkane Post Studio Video Diary Part 3 Online

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"So finally the third video blog is done! It features me recording some drum parts and I hope you like it. The next video will feature guitar recording and will be up in a week or so. As you understand, the videos take some time to edit and that's why they are a bit behind what's actually happening in the studio. Currently Jens [Broman] is recording vocals in the studio and he sounds killer! We've done three songs so far and I'm very happy with the result. Previously this week we recorded strings, horns and tuba for the intro ('Variations of an Eye Crush') and a song called 'Execution 44'. What can I say?! Sounds fantastic! Christofer [Malmström, guitar] has done great arrangements, as always, for the orchestra. It's an honour to be able to be a part of his amazing work. If you liked our past intros, then you'll like this one as well. Also, all rhythm guitars are done and so are the melody/extra guitars. The bass is almost done, three more songs to go. As I said, we're doing vocals now and are mixing that with recording solo guitars when Jens needs a rest. Christofer has done some solos and he's on fire! Klas [Ideberg, guitar] still hasn't started but will do so this coming week." More...

Darkane Issue Second Studio Video Update

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"Hey there metal headz!"

"Here is the second video blog from the studio. This video features setting up the drums, tuning, putting mics on the kit and me jamming on the drums. This means a lot of true drum nerd stuff!"

"As you might notice we'll be trying to put up this video blog quite frequently and the next one will feature me recording the drums. So until then, enjoy this in-depth drum video."

Darkane Launch Studio Video Diary

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"This is our first post from the studio. We entered the studio on Monday the 18th of February. We still don't have our own studio since the old one was flooded this past summer so we're renting another studio here in Helsingborg where we set up all our own equipment. Like usual when DARKANE is in the studio, we had tons of bad luck so it took four days setting up the studio, changing all cables that suddenly were broken, changing toms that sounded bad in this recording room and so on; quite frustrating when you just want to start recording."

"I've laid down drums on 14 tracks and we'll see how many end up on the final CD. It's hard to tell what direction the record is taking but it definitely sounds like DARKANE and with lots of fast songs. I came up with some cool improvised parts and I also had to take some time 'writing' some typical Wildoer parts in the studio." More...

Darkane To Enter Studio Next Month

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update:

"How's it going? One week left 'till Christmas. Did you tell Santa about all the DARKANE CDs that you want?

"To me he came pretty early this year. I got myself another Ibanez guitar a few days ago. This is a Prestige RGT220A NTF. It's a really solid piece and the neck is a little wider than I'm used to so I'll have to play it for a while before it'll feel right. I already have two RG 3120 and one RGA 321 which is basically the same but with a fixed bridge. Anyway, the Ibanez Prestige guitars are really good, and suits my style very well!

"We now have 51 minutes of new DARKANE material written. We will start the recording of the next album in late January. Peter [Wildoer, drums] is in the final stage of the live DVD mixing and it's supposed to be done before the year is over. A lot is happening right now so I'm pretty excited. I think that the new album will be very good, and it's really fun to learn the songs.

"A couple of years ago I was at my friend's birthday party. At dinner I sat next to this girl that I didn't know, and she didn't know me either. She was very cool and she told me about her band that she sang in, and I had never heard of them, and she also said that they had sold quite a lot of albums. 'So how many albums did you sell?' I asked. 'We actually sold almost 400 copies,' she replied, and I wasn't that impressed. Now she's the new vocalist in NIGHTWISH, and probably passed the total sales of DARKANE on the first day of her new album release… haha!

DARKANE played its first show with new singer Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) last month at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. According to Malmström, "Jens enjoyed every second of the show, and so did the rest of us. Our former vocalist Andreas was in the audience to support us, and he was very postive afterwards... along with the rest of the crowd."

DARKANE's upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.

The band last year completed a European tour in support of their fourth album, "Layers of Lies", available now on Nuclear Blast Records. It is the follow-up to the band's third studio CD, "Expanding Senses", which was released in 2002.

Darkane Guitarist Fascinated By Nikki Sixx

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update:

"I'm sitting with my laptop in my couch with the wife. She's watching a Swedish version of 'Top Model', so I thought I just might write whatever comes out (everything is better than watching that show).

"I've been reading Nikki Sixx's 'The Heroin Diaries' lately and I don't know what it is, but that man fascinates me. It's probably that I had a vision what is what like being a rock star in the '80s, and then when I got to read 'The Dirt' and 'The Heroin Diaries' it was so much more tragical than what it looked like in my innocent teenage rock magazines.

"If you have the chance you should read it... it's really facinating!

"Yesterday me, Peter and Andreas went to see DIMMU BORGIR in Lund, Sweden. The show was cool and we got a little chat with Galder backstage afterwards. He and the rest of the band were really cool.

"We have started to move into a new rehearsal room that we hope to build as a studio. We are looking into the possibilities to rent the top floor in the building as well, and then our dreams will come true. We hope we can build the studio so that Peter and Klas can work as studio technicians for a living, and we can record the new DARKANE album and mix the last of the live DVD sound. There has been so much stuff going on to delay our work, but now things looks a little brighter.

"I had a 'one-man guitar show' at Dunkers Kulturhus last week. About 130 people showed up which was very cool considering that I expected about 30. I played the guitar to DARKANE and NON-HUMAN LEVEL songs, and the reactions from the audience was very positive. We had a few cameras rolling, so I might put up a song or two when I have edited the result."

DARKANE recently announced the addition of Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) as the group's new lead vocalist.

According to Malmström, Jens — who will also continue to sing in CONSTRUCDEAD and THE DEFACED – "grew up in Glumslöv, south of Helsingborg (a good friend of Björn Strid from SOILWORK), but now lives in Stockholm. His live debut with us will take place in three weeks at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 10.

"We've been rehearsing hard lately and are very excited to work together with Jens. He has a huge vocal diversity and we are pretty sure that DARKANE fans won't be disappointed.

"We had our interests set on Jens at a very early stage and would like to thank all the people who showed their interest in joining DARKANE as our vocalist. We wish you all the success in the future, and we’d also like to congratulate Peter [Wildoer, drummer] and [his longtime girlfriend] Erika for getting engaged a few weeks back."

DARKANE drummer Peter Wildoer revealed last month that the band would start recording its fifth record this winter. "We have about nine songs ready," he said. "We were hoping to enter the studio earlier but in typical DARKANE bad luck, our studio got flooded and badly damaged. So now we're looking for a new location for the studio and as soon as we find that we need to rebuild the studio which takes a lot of time. Hopefully we will start recording around Christmas (fingers crossed)."

Darkane Announce New Singer

Following the departure of lead singer Andreas Sydow this past August, DARKANE guitarist and founding member Christopher Malmström took some time to write in from Helsingborg, Sweden to announce the band’s new frontman:

“Darkane would like to welcome Jens Broman as our new vocalist!

He’s recently been seen in the vocal spot in CONSTRUCDEAD and THE DEFACED (and will continue to sing in both bands).

Jens grew up in Glumslöv, south of Helsingborg (a good friend of Björn Strid from SOILWORK), but now lives in Stockholm. His live debut with us will take place in three weeks at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 10th.

We’ve been rehearsing hard lately and are very excited to work together with Jens. He has a huge vocal diversity and we are pretty sure that Darkane fans won´t be disappointed.

We had our interests set on Jens at a very early stage and would like to thank all the people who showed their interest in joining Darkane as our vocalist. We wish you all the success in the future, and we’d also like to congratulate Peter [Wildoer, drummer] and [his longtime girlfriend] Erika for getting engaged a few weeks back.”

Last month, Peter Wildoer revealed that Darkane has “about nine songs ready to record” for their upcoming fifth studio album, despite the fact that the band’s Not Quite Studio suffered an extensive amount of damage due to flooding two months ago.

Darkane Guitarist Featured In Swedish Movie

DARKANE guitarist Christofer Malmström has posted the following message on his web site:

I'm back! First of all, I am very proud to announce that I am now officially endorsing Seymour Duncan guitar pickups! I'm very excited about this, and I'm still deciding on which models I will use but it's gravitating towards the SH-6b Duncan Distortion Humbucker in the bridge and an SH-1n '59 Model Humbucker in the neck. I'll let you know when it's decided and installed!

"I am appearing in a movie that is up in the theaters in Sweden right now. My part is very small, but still... The movie is entitled 'Hata Göteborg' (Hate Gothenburg). It's quite a funny name for metalheads, but it has nothing to do with the Gothenburg metal scene, but about soccer hooligans. I play a hooligan for the Helsingorg soccer team that fights against the Gothenburg hooligans. The movie is about some young kids trying to find themself and you will only see my head a few seconds in total and I don't have a line, but I had a lot of fun shooting it. I don't know about international release yet and I doubt that it will ever happen, but if you live in Sweden I recommend this movie!"
