Darkane Drummer Joins Laid-Back Rock N Roll Band

MeinlCymbals.com recently spoke to Darkane drummer Peter Wildoer to get an update on both his and the band's activities:

I had to take a long break from November last year until July this summer," says Peter. "This was because I've had problems with my wrists since February 2003. After this long break I started feeling better. In July we've rehearsed again for the first time since November. Later that month we played one gig at local festival and my wrists were feeling much better. We finished writing the last songs for the new album and in September I started rehearsing the new tracks for the upcoming CD. Soon I will start to record the drums for the new and as of yet, untitled CD. Planned release will be in May 2005. This time we will record everything in Darkane's own studio. Nice to be able to take it easy. Hopefully I'm in great shape again and I'm looking forward to laying down some crazy metal drumming.

I've also recorded ten tracks with a band called Ben that I'm now also a permanent member of. The musical style of the band is a kind of very laid-back rock'n' roll and is far away from Darkane's sound. All basic tracks have been recorded live and much of the stuff has been played with rods and brushes. This will be stuff that people who know my drumming won't expect from me. Planned release for the Ben CD is spring/summer 2005. On November 6th Darkane will perform a live gig at the Danish Aalborg Metal Festival. I will also do a clinic in the festival area. Be sure to be there both for the clinic and the gig!

Darkane Confirmed For Denmark's Aalborg Metal Fest

Swedish thrashers Darkane have posted the following message on their web site:

Darkane are pleased to announce they have been confirmed to play the infamous Aalborg Metal Festival in Aalborg, DK this year. The festival, which will take place on November 6, will also feature Scarve, Zyklon, Illdisposed and The Defaced among others.

In studio news, the whole band has been spending their time in the studio the past weekend, working on the bass and drum sound. The whole band, except for Klas, who is still in India on an intership. He is expected to be joining the rest of the band in the studio as soon as he returns home next week.

The actual recording process is scheduled to start Tuesday but the band have been working in the studio the last couple of days to start all the preparations. Also, Peter is being extremely careful with his wrists which also takes its time.

According to Peter himself though, the bass drum sound is already incredible (of course!) =) and his wrists are in very good condition.

Darkane To Start Recording New Album Soon

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of Swedish thrashers Darkane has posted the following message on his web site:

It's going to be a busy autumn. Finally it seems like [drummer] Peter's [Wildoer] hands are healed and we can start the serious work on our upcoming album. All songs are written but never rehearsed and [this week] we are going to start rehearsing two new songs. A few days ago we did a show at a festival in the area where we live and it turned out very good! I would say all of us did a great performance considering that we haven't played together since November last year. The recording of the new album will start ASAP.

The recording of my solo project [Non-Human Level] will probably start in a few months or so. [Drummer] Ryan [Van Poederooyen] is busy with his Devin Townsend Band and other projects but will start recording as soon as he has learned the songs and is ready to go. It will be released next year anyway.

Darkane will play next Saturday the 24th of July at Tullakroksfestivalen in Ängelholm, Sweden. If Peter still doesn't feel any pain after the show Darkane will immediately start rehearsing and later on record the new album. Let's hope!"
