Hatebreed Frontman Talks Ozzfest And New DVD
Pete Richards of ChartAttack.com recently conducted an interview with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On playing this year's Ozzfest:
"These shows have been the best shows of our career. Some days they chant HATEBREED 20 minutes before we go on, and then even during the set. It's great. Our signings are packed every day. It's just been insane. We didn't expect this nice of a welcome back."
"Five years [straight of playing Ozzfest]. We needed to come back and do the second stage and close the second stage because playing the main stage alienated some of our diehard fans who don't have the $50 to come see us or don't want to see us from 2,000 feet away on the lawn. It was great. We won over a lot of people who had maybe seen our logo before but didn't know what we were about, but we can't do it next year. We need to do something different."
On HATEBREED's upcoming DVD:
"After years of compiling footage and trying to give all the past members their dues and trying to give each era of the band its due, we want to make sure it's a proper documentary that shows just how it turned into this movement all over the world. We want to show the development in Japan, the explosion in Europe, where these past two records have been the biggest records of our career. Show the first five years and how we used to play to 10 people in a back yard, or a hall and at bars, and then show going to the Grammys and walking the red carpet."
On Jasta's new Hatewear clothing line:
"It just takes initiative and time, and it's not easy. People want to support the music. People want to support the bands. The more items we make, the more they sell. We just made basketball shorts. They sold like crazy. We just made sweatpants. They sold like crazy. With Hatewear, if you don't want to wear a band's logo, you can wear something else. People download the music so much, the clothes are what sells. You can't download a T-shirt or pair of shorts."
Hatebreed Bassist Launches Clothing Line
HATEBREED bassist Chris Beattie has launched a clothing line called Bridgeport Republic.
"Bridgeport Republic is dedicated to reflecting individuality with a universal line of quality apparel which honors and represents an independent yet unified lifestyle rooted in the streets," says Beattie. "We plan to inspire a whole new generation and breathe new life into the way apparel industry."

HATEBREED has just finished pummeling audiences across North America as the headlined of the second stage at Ozzfest 2007.
Hatebreed, Static-X, Circus Diablo On Free Ozzfest
Artisan News Service has uploaded a three-minute video clip featuring interviews with members of Hatebreed, Static-X and Circus Diablo about this year's "free" Ozzfest. Watch the footage below.
Regarding the decision to make this year's traveling festival a "free" event, Sharon Osbourne, the fest's driving force, recently told Scripps Howard News Service, "I'm not trying to be the Mother Teresa of the music industry, because I like money more than anybody else. [But] these kids cannot afford to keep shelling out all this money, every year charging more and more. The brakes have to come on somewhere."
To that end, Osbourne approached Michael Rapino, president of giant national concert promoters Live Nation, and suggested giving the tickets away. "He said, 'We might as well — nobody's making any money here,'" Osbourne recalled. "So that's what we did: We found sponsors to come in and underwrite the running part, and we found bands who just want the stage — they just want to perform."
Hatebreed Vocalist Checks In From Ozzfest
HATEBREED vocalist Jamey Jasta has posted this Ozzfest 2007 road report on the band's MySpace page:
"Whats up! It's been a while since I checked in and I wanted to let everyone know that Ozzfest has been absolutely amazing and we can not thank everyone enough. This is our fifth time on Ozzfest and we all agree that this year is by far the best response we've ever gotten and the most fun we've ever had on tour. We are truly grateful! The second stage is a great mixture of underground and extreme music so make sure you show up early and catch all the bands. We've been hanging hard with our good pals 3 INCHES OF BLOOD and BEHEMOTH every day and on our off day shows with LAMB OF GOD which have been completely UNREAL. LAMB OF GOD tears the roof off of every venue. It's an honor to share the stage with them. Randy (Blythe) has rode on the HATEBREED bus a few nights and raged with us til 6 AM, it's been great! We urge you all to get your ass out to these shows! We're also excited that our pals DEVILDRIVER will be joining us on Ozzfest. It's gonna be killer! Come by the Jager and FYE tents to say hello to us we sign at Jager at 2PM everyday and at FYE right after we play. I will be doing some solo signings at the Monster Energy truck (times TBA) and also at the I.L.V. tent (after STATIC-x plays) so come by and say hi! See you on the road!"

Ozzfest 2007 VIP Ticket Plan Revealed
It was announced months ago that tickets for this summer's Ozzfest would be free to fans, and that the longest-running heavy metal festival would subsist on corporate sponsorships and little else.
But obtaining those free tickets for one of the dates on this year's run — which kicks off July 12 in Auburn, Washington, and continues through August 30 in West Palm Beach, Florida — might just give some metal fans a migraine.
First, you have to send an e-mail requesting tickets, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the Web site of one of the tour's various sponsors. Next, you have to wait until June 12 before you can enter that code on some other Web site to redeem two tickets to whichever date you'd like to attend. It's a whole rigmarole that some fans — or, more specifically, those willing to drop some serious scratch — can avoid.
That's right, folks — while this summer's Live Nation-sponsored Ozzfest will be free to most, some will fork over upward of $1,000 to get in. As in years past, Ozzfest's organizers will offer fans a number of VIP ticket packages for purchase, which will ensure them a seat for all the headbangin' action.
The festival's "Party Like a Rockstar" package — which includes preferred pavilion seating, access to the second-stage VIP viewing platform behind the mixing boards, access to the general VIP area, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host "to help you rock harder than you have ever rocked before" — returns this summer, and will set you back $300. There's also the "I'm Part of the Show" package, which costs $666 and includes all the same perks, in addition to a seat on the Ozzfest stage during Osbourne's concert-closing set.
There's also the "Platinum" package, which will be available by auction in the not-so-distant future. The starting bid will be $1,000 and will be limited to only 10 guests per show. This offer includes everything the "I'm Part of the Show" package does, and then some. Fans who win the auction will also get a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, along with a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne. The proceeds of these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The festival's 12th annual installment boasts a bill including Ozzy Osbourne, 3 Inches Of Blood, Ankla, Behemoth, Chthonic, Circus Diablo, Daath, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lamb of God, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Nile, Static-X and The Showdown.
The 24-city 12th annual OZZFEST will launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. Here are the tour dates: More...

Sponsored by Jagermeister and Monster Energy Drink, the Monsters of Mayhem tour has launched its very own “Ladies Night,” putting the females front and center by offering FREE admission for the first 150 females over 21 attending each show. Hatebreed’s latest triumph, Supremacy has been received with overwhelming critical acclaim and respect. Supremacy marks Hatebreed’s Roadrunner debut, as well as a musical catharsis for frontman Jamey Jasta. “I wanted to just put it all out there, to wear my heart on my sleeve more than I have in the past,” Jasta proclaimed in an October 2006 interview with Revolver, “…I needed this to be the most vicious record we’ve ever done.”

The Black Tooth Bash will include mash up performances by the Black Tooth Band, featuring Vinnie Paul Abbott, Scott Ian, John 5, Matt Byrne (Hatebreed), Ripper Owens, David Draiman (Disturbed), Bob Zilla (Damageplan) Dave Navarro, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and many more. Nergal (vocals, guitars) states, "I couldn't be more proud about the fact that BEHEMOTH will be joining this year's Ozzfest! I'm speechless and beyond excited. No doubt it's going to be the brightest point of our career thus far, and I hope that this will help to spread dangerous and extreme music among the masses. It's an honor to team up with our longtime brothers in NILE and to share the stage with LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED, not to mention the legend himself! With such a bill, you can expect nothing but pure metal carnage! What makes me even more excited is the little fact that we will be releasing our new album during the tour. So expect songs from 'The Apostasy', as well as some older shit. We'll definitely make sure the set is going to be brutal as fuck. You've been warned!" More...
