Chthonic Added To Ozzfest 2007 Second Stage Lineup

Taiwan's CHTHONIC, the black metal band that has already broken down musical barriers in its homeland, will spend this summer on Ozzfest 2007 as a part of the second stage's rotating lineup alongside such acclaimed artists as HATEBREED, NILE, THE SHOWDOWN and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, among others.

The Ozzfest billing is now shaping up as follows:

CHTHONIC

Influenced by EMPEROR and early DIMMU BORGIR, CHTHONIC plays symphonic metal arrangements embellished with baleful melodies on the erhu, a two-string violin from the Far East. But while CHTHONIC are inspired by Scandinavian bands, their music rails, not against Christianity, but against the Han Chinese, who usurped ancient Taiwanese tradition some 300 years ago. "When we play black metal, that's because we are angry about some outside culture that invades our country," mainman Freddy previously said. "That's the same situation with many bands in Scandinavia, so that's what we have in common with them."

CHTHONIC was awarded "Best Rock Group" at the 14th Golden Music Awards, the Eastern Asian equivalent of a Grammy. The award was presented to the band by none other than the country’s President Chen Shui-bian.

This band sounds like they would be worth checking out. Its not bad to be influenced by Emperor and Dimmu. Hell, I think Ozzy should get Dimmu again for this Ozzfest. Dimmu could play main stage with Lamb of God.

As for people talking about the SOTU tour, since Ozzfest is on a role getting some great bands SOTU (if it happens this year) will need to step it up and try and top that.

P.S.- I would love to see Mastodon on main stage at Ozzfest. Last time they played was on second stage but like Lamb of God their hard work has payed off, and they have come a long way. "Blood Mountain" was a masterpiece!

This tour is going to be pretty bad exept for like half of the second stage ... The needs a total reconstruction. I can't stand LOG ever since they started waving the flag for hot topic which i believe is around the time "sacrement" came out (that album was pretty bad by the way). I have respect for Lordie because any band who pisses off the christian right is ok in my book, but who decided that they would play on the main stage i mean they're ok, but they're not all that great nor are they all that well known. But the scond stage is alright with heavy hitters like hate breed, nile and three inches of blood ... to bad behemoth is playing ... i mean i love blackened death as much as the next person ... Neglfar is one of my favorit bands, but come on Behemeth? And dimmu really needs to quit ... I actually like Chthonic dispite the fact that they rely heavily on the keyboard ( I dislike most metal bands that use keyboards). It looks like my last hope is SOTU ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed (-_-)

Actually it is the heaviest ozzfest in years if not ever, but just cause it's the heaviest does'nt mean it's the best. I'm still pondering why the hell is Lordi on the main stage. I mean hate breed is much more reputable even though alot of people dislike them because they're "popular" ( i personally think they're pretty good ... not great but good). I'd go just to see 3 inches of blood and Nile.

And as for an answer to post 22's question ... i didn't want to be missinterpreted because i worded my first post wrong.
