OZZFEST alumni Static X--touring in support of their just-released album Cannibal--are the last band to join the OZZFEST revolution by signing on for this year’s historic “Freefest.” They, along with Ozzy Osbourne, Lamb of God, Hatebreed, Lordi, Behemoth, Mondo Generator, Nile, Ankla, Circus Diablo, The Showdown, 3 Inches of Blood, Daath, Chthonic and In This Moment, will give fans the rock experience of their lives at a price that’s hard to beat. As previously announced, the ticket price for this summer’s premiere touring concert festival is entirely free for fans.
The addition of Static X comes just in time for fans looking to log in for their free ticket codes to this year’s “Freefest.” Since Saturday, May 12 at 12 Noon (EASTERN TIME), ticket codes are distributed on ozzfest.com, livenation.com, monsterenergy.com, jagermusic.com and fye.com. These codes can be redeemed for tickets beginning June 12--exactly one month before the first OZZFEST 2007 show in Seattle. Fans will return to the site where they registered or www.livenation.com/ozzfest, enter their code and download two tickets to the show of their choice. Note: To ensure that everyone gets the chance for free tickets, there is a limit of two tickets per customer.

I am suprised that you think A7X is worse than Static X, but to each his own. I am like Static X they have some really good songs and some really reptitive songs. Their formula could use some changing up. I love Machine in my opinion it is their best effort. I am glad to finally see them at concert but i would rather of had In Flames, Arch Enemy, Machine Head, or Chimaira play

im very disapointed. i strongly dislike static x. i figured for mainstage they could have gotten a better metal act. i was hoping for testament or machine head or death angel or something, but what can you do. im still going anyway.
now playing: fleshcrawl - the forthcoming end

Hahahaha...Why should anyone be suprised by this news. This Ozzfest really sucks and I'm glad that this may be the last. So what if there are like 3 awesome bands there. An event like Ozzfest should showcase like 10 awesome bands.
Now Playing: Between the Buried and Me - Backwards Marathon

to post 1, yes, Static-X is definitely shadowed by bands like Behemoth and Nile, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was worse than A7X headlining...Thats a hell of a stretch to make there to be honest, I'd much rather listen to 'Shadow Zone' before listening to any crap emo track A7X pulls out their asses

THEY ARE TEN MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THE BEST POTATOES......EVEN THOUGH I HATE POTATOES W/ AN I RON FORK SHOVED UP A MONKEY'S ANUS ON A WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON IN THE THIRD SUMMER OF THE SIXTH YEAR OF THE 10TH YEAR OF THE WHITES RIGHT TO BE HATEFUL OR NICE AND BUTTERED TOAST...AND MAYBE EVEN SH!T THEMSELVES AFTER I PEE IN UR CEREAL AFTER MOTHER'S THURSDAY...AND I LUV STATIC-X......DESTROYER!!!

Okay,
Now wait a f***ing minute! Post 8? You're telling us that Static-X (whose only good albums are that of Machine and even Shadow Zone) is the only band at Ozzfest with talent?? Okay, you're a f***ing tool. Behemoth and Lamb of God - not to MENTION Nile - tower over the flawed act of Static-X. Indeed, they have a few good songs, but please! Their new album is awful. It is the worst guitar riffs I've ever heard, WAY too simplistic, and just plain awful!
Now, in my first post, I said Static-X MAY be worse than A7X headlining at Ozzfest last year. To clarify: I don't like either band at all (I used to like Static-X before they turned in to a pile of sh**), but trust me, I hate the fags that comprise A7X. That is just horrible music all together.
Now playing: Dark Tranquillity - Miserys Crown - Fiction

Although not my first choice (or even close), Static-X is a logical pick for the last slot. After getting acts like Nile and Behemoth on the bill, a commercially sucessful band like Static-X is a great way to avoid alienating casual Ozzfest fans who may not be ready for a band like Nile.
Having said that, I won't be attending Ozzfest. Even for "free", it's not worth the hassle. I'm really holding out for another Unholy Alliance tour sometime this year.

I don't see how Static-X is a commercially successful band. I've never known any posers who liked Static-X and honestly their new album is not radio friendly by any means. Their new album is much heavier and faster than Shadow Zone. I don't understand how they're commercial.

static-x kicks a** live just saw them for the second time on the 23 in chicago I am gonig to ozzfest I would reather go to Family Values then sounds of the underground all there is at sounds of the underground is amon armoth, gwar, and mushroomhead and meachin head sucks f***ing d**k

34. writes:
Wow....we should really widen our horizons. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing Behemoth (again), Lamb of God and Nile, but I also do not mind seeing Static-X. It's all metal of some sort, why discriminate so much? And, you shouldn't expect the best bands to play here...I mean, it's free admission =/ Still, there are some great underground acts playing. Chthonic, Daath and 3 Inches of Blood are f***ing sweet imo. My main problem here is In This Moment. They are NOT metal; closer to emo >=( Lordi is a f***in' joke, they're like the Finnish version of Gwar without the kickass stage show. But all the rest, I'm looking forward to!

Shevvy normally addin this band kind of band wouldnt piss me off so much because it just means i get a break to get a drink, piss, merchandise watever i need to do but the location of the nearest ozzfest area put me on the fence to whether or not i was going to go and i was waitin for this spot location to decide whether or not i go this year but since this band is terrible im not goin this year
Now Playing: Iced Earth- The Hunter

39. writes:
im disappointed because they hyped the last spot as some huge, legendary band and its f***ing static x. if static x was announced early and was only a second stage act i would just ignore them, because i expect a band like them at ozzfest. but because ozzfest toyed with us by saying the last mainstage spot was going to be taken by a huge band and its lowly static x, that pisses me off.
now playing: toxik - shotgun logic

41. writes:
Terminator makes a good point. They announced every other spot except that final main stage band, for hype purposes. I personally was hoping for Alice in Chains or Tool or maybe even the newly-reunited Rage Against the Machine, but alas, all we get is a band who's best days are definitely behind them. Listen to the new single (I can't remember what it's called), the chorus of the song sounds just like the chorus of "Push It". Don't believe me? Sing along with the chorus of the new song, but sing "Push It" instead. It's REALLY similar.

Well, that's it. What a f***ing wait. And for such a pitiful act to be listed as one of the main stage feature acts. This is truly sad. I only wanted to go to Ozzfest for LoG, Nile and Behemoth..but f***...no way..no how...I think Static-X headling MAY be worse than A7X headlining last year. Ugh.
