Behemoth Added To Ozzfest 2007 Second-Stage Lineup

Band Photo: Lamb of God (?)

Polish extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH have been added to the Ozzfest 2007 lineup. The band has landed the direct-support, non-rotating slot right before second-stage headliners HATEBREED. This is the first time a Polish act has ever participated in Ozzfest.

The Ozzfest 2007 billing is now shaping up as follows:

Main Stage:

OZZY OSBOURNE
LAMB OF GOD
[to be announced]
LORDI

Second Stage – Non-Rotating:

HATEBREED
BEHEMOTH
MONDO GENERATOR

Second Stage – Rotating:

NILE
ANKLA
CIRCUS DIABLO
THE SHOWDOWN
3 INCHES OF BLOOD
DAATH
IN THIS MOMENT
[to be announced]

Nergal (vocals, guitars) states, "I couldn't be more proud about the fact that BEHEMOTH will be joining this year's Ozzfest! I'm speechless and beyond excited. No doubt it's going to be the brightest point of our career thus far, and I hope that this will help to spread dangerous and extreme music among the masses. It's an honor to team up with our longtime brothers in NILE and to share the stage with LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED, not to mention the legend himself! With such a bill, you can expect nothing but pure metal carnage! What makes me even more excited is the little fact that we will be releasing our new album during the tour. So expect songs from 'The Apostasy', as well as some older shit. We'll definitely make sure the set is going to be brutal as fuck. You've been warned!"

BEHEMOTH built their career upon their unrelenting touring schedule, performing over 325 shows worldwide for the "Demigod" album campaign. With Ozzfest, the group kicks off the worldwide touring cycle in support of their highly anticipated new album, "The Apostasy", which is set for a July release.

The group's most ambitious and epic offering yet, "The Apostasy" was recorded in the band's hometown of Gdansk with Nergal and longtime sound engineer Malta in the producers' chairs. The effort is currently being mixed with the acclaimed Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) at Dug-Out Studios in Sweden and mastered by Bjorn Engelmann (RAMMSTEIN, SAMAEL).

BEHEMOTH became one of the most talked-about acts within the scene due to their vicious and unrelenting live performances on last year's Sounds of The Underground tour, which garnered them legions of devoted new fans. After a slew of major U.S. tours with the likes of such acts as DANZIG, MORBID ANGEL, CHIMAIRA and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, the group more than solidified themselves as one of the genre's most exciting new artists.

i had been debating wether or not it would be worth going to ozzfest just see daath, nile, and lamb of god...but putting behemoth on the bill totally tips the scale on the "definitely going" side

I like the idea of Behemoth and Nile getting the kind of audiences they deserve....This particular Ozzfest has the strongest lineup I've ever seen (No Sabbth though....).

Still it is a bit odd....
Imagine what people would say if Nile and Behemoth shared a festival gig with even more commercially viable acts...think:p***y Cat Dolls, Fallout Boy Panic! at the Disco...The entire crowd would evacuate (less they be sucked into hell)...Or look at the 2000-2004 Ozzfest lineups, same thing mostly....

I'd like to see Ozzfest continue in this manner...Might bring some cred to a festival that has long had a 85% sh**ty band ratio.

How much you wanna bet that the last band to be announced on the main stage is Black Label Society? When was the last time that BLS wasn't on Ozzfest? I respect Zakk Wylde but it would be great to not to see them on there this year. lol I'm hoping for Meshuggah...right, like that's gonna happen. Any why the hell is Lordi on mainstage?

about "dir en grey" beating lamb of god for headbangers ball, I hate dir en grey too, lamb of god is one of my favorite bands so as much as it is a dissappointment, I'm not gonna lie the Redneck video sucked, I make films and sh** so I know a thing or two about making videos, so although the song kicks dir en greys a$$ it doesn't take much to beat redneck video-wise

I agree with you, but I also feel like the location of where they play takes a part in it too. When I saw them there actually wasn't much, if any, of the gay hardcore dancing. It was more moshing, same thing when I saw Throwdown.

But how is this supposed to be just taking previous bands from other tours, doesn't that happen all over. That's like saying (just an example), Metallica plays Wacken one year and then the next year Download Festival gets them because Wacken had them. Most of these bands have played on other festivals and even Ozzfest in the past. From last year between SOTU and Unholy Alliance the only bands that are on here are Lamb of God and Behemoth. That's it.
