More Bands Announced For NEM&HF 2013

The latest round of bands confirmed to storm the stage at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival XV has today been announced. The fresh additions to the brutal three-day event include Alleageon, Alpha & Omega, Born Low, MurderDeathKill and Dark Sermon, as well as Baltimore hardcore squad Trapped Under Ice and New Jersey’s renowned explosive tech metal practitioners The Dillinger Escape Plan.

A tour based around the fest has also been created by MassConcerts, something they’ve done for the past four years. Dubbed Mission Quest to Metal Fest, the trek was formed in order to help a few of the bands get to and from NEMHF this year. This year the tour unifies Expire, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip, Twitching Tongues, and Antagonist A.D. on a ten-date assault leading up to their individual performances at the festival.

Stated promoter Scott Lee on the formation of this built-in tour: “We are really proud of this year’s lineup, and to bring these bands together leading up to it. The tour includes Expire who played last year, California powerhouse Alpha & Omega, Power Trip who is an up-and-coming hardcore band from Texas, and Twitching Tongues. We're also very excited to have Antagonist A.D. from New Zealand; they are the band coming from the farthest away for the fest. Pretty happy to have them; we love putting foreign bands on the bill!” More...

Trapped Under Ice Frontman Apologizes For Attack

Trapped Under Ice frontman Justice Tripp has posted the following statement online through the band's official Facebook page in repsonse to his recent actions in Germany where he attacked a young fan in attendance at the 2011 "Rebellion" tour.

"First off I’d like to say I’m sorry for not getting this done sooner. We’ve had very limited Internet access over here in Europe. There are a lot of things being said about the events in Essen a few days ago. Some are true some are not.

"I would first like to clarify that I didn’t do what I did out of ANGER but what I thought was self defense. When I was knocked off the stage I hit my head, a lot of stuff after that is a blur. However it is clear that I took it too far and I’m sorry for that.

"I'd like to keep the other parties name out of this, as I’m not certain if he is comfortable with being named. At end of the night I got the chance to apologize to him face to face and he accepted my apology. I think a lot of people may be unaware of that at this point.

"In any case, I’m very sorry to the other party involved. Im sorry to anyone who had to witness my stupid behavior. This is not typical behavior for me or my band. Don’t feel discouraged to come out to the rebellion tour. Our actions do not represent the package. So again, I apologize.

Trapped Under Ice Frontman Attacks Fan In Europe

Updated: Trapped Under Ice frontman Justice Tripp has issued an apology, which you can read here.

Bootleg video has surfaced online showing the frontman of Baltimore, Maryland hardcore act Trapped Under Ice attacking a fan during a recent tour stop in Europe on the "Rebellion" tour. You can view the video footage of the incident below. More news on this story will be posted as it becomes available. The uploader of the video commented on the incident by saying:

"Trapped Under Ice played a show and a kid who loved the band jumped over the singer (aka pile-on / stagedive) so he could sing-a-long, they both fell down the stage (absolutely no harm to the kid NOR the singer because of this), the singer then hit the kid two times in the face, the kid in defense not really knowing what was going on hit back, then chaos ensued, another member of the band left the stage and together with his singer started severly beating and stomping the kid resulting in a broken jaw that needed surgery. Back on stage the singer says

"I'm not a fucking superhero, don't jump on me, don't you fucking hit me"

"Well this is bullshit because if you are into Hardcore you know that singers get jumped on ALL THE TIME by enthusiastic fans. and the "Don't fucking hit me" shit, well on the video you can clearly see that the singer hits the kid first!"

NEMHF 2009 Adds Third Stage

The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.

The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.

“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”

The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.

The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.

Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available now.

Bands scheduled to perform this year include: More...
