New Metal Tracks Available On Rock Band This Week

More metal tracks have been added to the expanding Rock Band Network this week, although the pickings are a little slimmer than in recent updates. The Black Dahlia Murder and Unearth will soon be heading to Australia for a fairly extensive tour, including Perth, Adelaide and even some underage shows. Support acts have just been announced, and are available below.

Final Bands Confirmed For Graspop 2010

The organisers of Belgiums biggest metal festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, has confirmed the final bands for this years edition of the event. The biggest news is that Soulfly, the band led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, will be headlining the event on the Saturday. Other bands added to the bill include New York hardcore legends Sick Of It All, former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, Hatebreed, Revamp, Oceans Of Sadness and Dear Superstar. The festival takes place in the town of Dessel from June 25th-27th.

Unearth Clarifies European Tour Dates

Unearth, who just announced a run of European and UK dates following their upcoming Japanese and Australian tour dates, has issued a statement to clarify their itinerary:

"We apologize as there was some confusion and miscommunication about the Europe dates. The Europe dates are either festival dates or they are shows wither either ATREYU or 36 CRAZYFISTS. The Black Dahlia Murder will not be featured at these shows. You can catch The Black Dahlia Murder with Unearth on the Australia, New Zealand and Japan Dates. Again we apologize for said confusion!"

Unearth just wrapped up their North American Atticus Metal Tour II with Stick To Your Guns, Veil Of Maya, The Ghost Inside and Carnifex. Following this tour, Unearth will be heading overseas with label mates The Black Dahlia Murder for an April/May tour of Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

Unearth will then be trekking over to Europe and the UK with The Black Dahlia Murder for 17 more shows. Twenty Two More Bands Confirmed For Download 2010

The organisers of Britains Download festival has announced a further twenty two additions to this years lineup. Glam metal veterans Ratt and Cinderella will be performing at the event, as will British heavy metal icons Saxon. Other bands confirmed for the festival include Hellyeah, H.I.M., Airbourne, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Y&T, Unearth, Steel Panther, Job For A Cowboy, A Day To Remember, Lawnmower Deth, Coheed & Cambria, 36 Crazyfists, Dommin, Whitechapel, Taking Dawn, August Burns Red, The Blackout, Rise To Remain and We Are The Fallen.

The festival takes place at Donington Park and will be held from friday the 11th of June to sunday the 13th. Other bands confirmed for the festival include Motorhead, Megadeth, Deftones and Them Crooked Vultures, as well as headlining acts AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine and Aerosmith.

Hellfest Confirms Finals Acts

The organisers of the French metal festival Hellfest has announced the last additions to the event's lineup. The already hugely impressive lineup will now also feature Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Saxon, Slayer, Deftones, Airbourne, Fear Factory, Carcass, Fields Of Nephilm, Infectious Grooves, Stone Sour, Hypocrisy, Exodus, Annihilator, Devin Townsend Project, Mass Hysteria, Doom, Dillinger Escape Plan, As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Tamtrum, Electric Mary Vulcain, Kalisia and Blaspheme. Four More Bands Confirmed For Graspop 2010

The organisers of Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting festival has announced that four more bands have now been added to the lineup. The biggest announcement is that Aerosmith will be headlining the event on the friday. Also joining them that day will be reunited California grungers Stone Temple Pilots. Industrial metal legends Fear Factory will be performing at the festival and so will Atlanta based metal outfit Mastodon, who are still touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, "Crack The Skye."

A Decade Of Metal In Review

On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.

Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. Although nu-metal had already been pioneered by Korn, bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Linkin Park all had breakout releases in 2000. More...
