Unearth Releases New Music Video

Unearth's new video for "Watch It Burn" from "Darkness in the Light" is now streaming on Metalinjection.net. The video, which was directed by Scott Hansen (A Day To Remember, I Wrestled A Bear Once, Maylene & The Sons of Disaster), is a dark and disturbing video to match the equally bleak lyrics of the song. The video can be seen now here, or in the player below..

Vocalist Trevor Phipps elaborates on the video: "This video captures both the energy we put into every performance as well as imagery of the dark lyrical content of "Watch it Burn". We want to thank Scott Hansen and his crew for their hard work delivering such a sick video for our fans to see. Check it out!"

Unearth's next round of touring will be across Australia as a part of the Soundwave Festival. The tour kicks off February 25th in Brisbane and features Slipknot, System of a Down, A Day To Remember, Bush, Lamb of God, Machine Head and many more. For the full line up, visit this location. Unearth Names Nick Pierce New Drummer

Fans that have seen Unearth live on recent trips to Alaska, Japan and on the band's U.S. and Canadian tour with Chimaira, may have noticed a new face on stage. The guy behind the kit has been none other than up-and-coming drummer, Nick Pierce.

Nick Pierce is a self taught drummer who's been playing since age 10. He grew up playing for local bands in the Seattle/Tacoma area (Culling the Weak, Eterna Nocturna, Embalmed) as well as LA based band The Faceless. Nick first sat in behind the kit for Unearth in May of 2011 during their two show trip to Alaska. Unearth, Skeletonwitch Stole Show in Austin

Co-headliners Unearth and Chimaira, two bastions of the breakdown, threw down a modern-metal clinic at Emo’s East in Austin, Texas. Molotov Solution, a promising newcomer to Metal Blade Records, opened the show in fitting ground-and-pound deathcore fashion. Skeletonwitch seemed the odd man out, although their searing blend of blackened thrash proved a needed diversity. The package came sealed with a black licorice-tasting inebriation courtesy of Jägermeister music. More...

More Bands Confirmed For Soundwave Festival 2012

Although it wasn't expected until December, the organizers of Australia's Soundwave Festival have made their second band announcement. Joining the 60 bands already announced are Staind, Wednesday 13, Unearth, Cathedral, Shadows Fall, Heaven Shall Burn, Your Demise, Kittie, and 14 other (mostly non-metal) bands.

Hole has pulled out of the festival after frontwoman Courtney Love refused to play before Limp Bizkit. Soundwave boss AJ Maddah said on Twitter that he was "relieved we got the moody old cow off the bill. [There’s] no point talking her back, only for her to cancel later, or turn up & act like a rotten twat to other artists, fans, etc."

A third announcement in early December will add another five bands to the lineup, and Danzig is one of the confirmed possibilities. More...

Megadeth, Unearth, Kingdom of Sorrow Slay Mayhem

The heatwave scorching the U.S. has been following the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival from shed to shed and leaned on Boston hard as the mercury hit 105 on the Comcast Center tarmac in Mansfield, Mass.

But that didn't stop me and 15,000 or so fellow headbangers from slipping on our black T-shirts and standing in the blistering sun for 10 hours to get our fill of the biggest metal tour of the summer.

Most people in Boston were in the shade, a pool, the beach or some sort of air conditioned locale, but legions of soaked fans stood on the red-hot concrete for hours watching their favorite bands pay them back in spades.

As if it weren't painful enough to just be outside, the Boston crowd didn't disappoint the bands as pit after massive pit opened up across the venue. By the time Jamey Jasta, Kirk Windstein and the rest of Kingdom of Sorrow ripped into "Enlightened to Extinction," the outdoor stage area was a sea of sweaty, swirling, sunburned bodies. With security hosing down the masses, Windstein was a riff machine and Jasta - one of the hardest working dudes in metal - was on point, as usual. More...
