Ministry, A7X And More To Be On Saw 4 Soundtrack

MINISTRY, SIXX: A.M., DROWNING POOL, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, EVERY TIME I DIE, THE RED CHORD and FUELED BY FIRE are among the bands that are featured on the "Saw IV" original soundtrack, due on October 23 via on Artists' Addiction Records (an extended digital release will follow in November).

"When we were choosing songs for the 'Saw IV' soundtrack, we asked ourselves, 'What kind of music would the 'Saw' characters Jigsaw and Amanda listen to?'" reveals Jonathan Scott Miller, principal of Artists' Addiction Records. Miller served as soundtrack producer alongside Artists' Addiction principals Jonathan Platt and Jonathan McHugh ("Saw IV" producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg are executive soundtrack producers).

Aside from occupying a certain punishing position on the sonic spectrum, many of these acts also have in common an abiding love for all things "Saw". Attests Miller: "A lot of these artists are huge fans of the franchise, and their music really relates to it." He points out that SOLIDIUM ("Trapped") are also devotees of modern horror films in general and that OXYGEN is so enamored of the "Saw" series that their contribution to "Saw IV" original soundtrack, "Do You Want to Play a Game", takes its title and thematic thrust directly from the films. Moreover, "Saw IV" original soundtrack is itself an "inspired by" collection. Aside from "Just Begun", an excerpt form Charlie Clouser's score, the songs comprising this companion piece are not heard in the film; instead, their selection was inspired by the film.

More Metal Removed From Disney Property

Greg Burk of the Los Angeles Times reports that five heavy-metal concerts scheduled at House of Blues clubs on Walt Disney Co. property in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida have been hastily shifted to other venues or canceled recently, according to House of Blues web site calendars.

A Sept. 7 show featuring MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY, THROWDOWN and SANCTITY, booked two months earlier, was moved on two days' notice from the House of Blues in Anaheim's Downtown Disney entertainment complex to the Glass House in Pomona. Thursday's concert with CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD and THE ABSENCE, originally slated for the Anaheim House of Blues, was moved to the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana. A Sept. 26 Anaheim House of Blues concert featuring OBITUARY, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, FULL BLOWN CHAOS and HEMLOCK has been canceled outright.

At the House of Blues in Orlando, Fla., on Disney World property, a Sept. 17 concert of the MACHINE HEAD lineup has been moved to Club Firestone in downtown Orlando. The same action has been taken with the Oct. 11 CANNIBAL CORPSE package.

Asked about the scheduling changes, John Vlautin, vice president of communications for Live Nation (formerly Clear Channel), the concert-promotion organization that owns the nationwide House of Blues chain, issued a statement Thursday that said only: "House of Blues offers a range of entertainment to match the audience at our venues. It was determined that the mix of entertainment at our two Disney locations should be different from our other venues."

Vlautin declined to comment on why metal bands have been singled out after years of similar bookings or whether other metal events already scheduled, including SUFFOCATION, EDGUY and STATIC-X, will be affected.

Rob Doughty, communications vice president for Disneyland Resorts, declined to comment, referring inquiries to Vlautin. Paul McGuigan, concert promoter at the Anaheim House of Blues, also declined to comment through a club spokeswoman.

The Walt Disney Co., through Vlautin, issued a short statement Thursday that included no specifics about the shifts of the metal concerts: "In consultation with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the House of Blues will provide a mix of entertainment for guests visiting Disney Resorts."

The Red Chord Film “Dread Prevailed” Video

THE RED CHORD recently filmed a video for their song “Dread Prevailed” off their new album Prey For Eyes, which hit stores July 24th. The video was directed and shot by acclaimed director David Brodsky (Gwar, Strapping Young Lad) of MyGoodEye, and will surface in the coming weeks.

Brodsky had the following to say about the experience: “Working with THE RED CHORD is always an amazingly interesting experience. Allie and I went up to Massachusetts to capture the band’s home base vibe, and what we came away with is sure to not disappoint. Every time I hear their new album, Prey For Eyes, I hear something I hadn’t heard the last time. Their creativity knows absolutely no bounds, and lets us experiment and play around with our own creative instincts.”

Prey For Eyes was recorded and produced earlier this year by Eric Rachel at Trax East in New Jersey.

The Black Dahlia Murder Comments On Upcoming CD

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER has commented on their upcoming release "NOCTURNAL":

“Hey troops, Trevor here from The Black Dahlia Murder. Just stopping by to tell you about our new album, Nocturnal, which is currently being mastered. From the songs, to the artwork, to the sound quality itself, we could not be more pleased with the results... We are all feeling like proud fathers over here. The album was recorded by Eric Rachel at Trax East, and mixed by Jason Seucof at Audiohammer... it sounds absolutely crushing. It should be just a couple of days before we post a new song on the myspace so you guys can have a taste of the carnage to come. In the mean time, we are gearing up for global destruction... ahem, our tour of the European Festival circuit, as well as our return to the UK. We are very excited to play at Wacken and are very honored to have the opportunity to play in front of so many metal heads. Not to mention our US tour in the fall in support of Cannibal Corpse... on which we will be debuting some new material. Come out and support extreme metal!!!!”
