Job For A Cowboy is currently readying for a month-long Summer Slaughter trek, set to commence next week in Los Angeles. Bassist Nick Schendzielos will be forced to sit out part of the run due to a family emergency, and the band will be joined temporarily by The Red Chord guitarist Mike "Gunface" McKenzie.
Comments Schendzielos: "Hey friends: On June 28, immediately after landing in Boston to rehearse for Puerto Rico/Summer Slaughter, my girlfriend was in a head-on collision on her scooter. She sustained very serious head and bodily injuries. I flew right home, and we've been in the ICU for a week and are still in the hospital to make sure everything is okay. She needs 24/7 supervision for at least two weeks once we get out of here, so I'm very grateful to announce that Gunface from The Red Chord is going to help me out filling in on Summer Slaughter until I can meet back up with it. We love the dude very much and it's going to be really cool for both JFAC and TRC fans to see. Enormous thanks for understanding this difficult situation and I'll be back as soon as possible!"
Adds McKenzie: "I'm excited to be playing with JFAC on this tour. Great dudes in this band as well as in the bands on Summer Slaughter. Playing bass is a little different for me but definitely an interesting challenge. I'm definitely looking forward to getting out on the road again. Nick's bass work is incredible and I'm working hard to get all of his parts down. Sending positive vibes out to him and his lady."
Job For A Cowboy has the following Summer Slaughter shows with Cannibal Corpse, Between The Buried and Me, The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya, Goatwhore, Exhumed, and Cerebral Bore: More...
The Metal Suckfest -- the 2-day, 20-band, MetalSucks-curated metal festival being held at NYC's Gramercy Theater on November 4th and 5th -- has made a last minute addition to its Day 1 roster: NYC pornogrind act Lake Bukkake will open the fest, prior to headliners Municipal Waste, God Forbid, Today is the Day, Howl, Black Tusk, and many more. "After months and months and months of negotiations — and by 'negotiations,' we mean 'us pestering and begging them constantly' — the group has FINALLY agreed to emerge from their shell to play the opening set on Day 1 of The Metal Suckfest, one week from today, Friday, November 4. The band will play both I Left My Heart…and 1996's Shut Up it’s Good for Your Complexion in their entirety. (The combined running time of both albums is less than fifteen minutes.)
"They also PROMISED us to debut at LEAST two songs from Chinese Bukkakacy, which they have, indeed, been working on for awhile (although apparently it may not be called that anymore — 'The idea seemed pretty funny in 2006, not so much anymore,' the band told us by e-mail)."

There will be a special t-shirt available for purchase only during this time in addition to all their new tour merchandise.
If you are in the Holyoke, MA area on the 20th of November, be sure to come out to the Waterfront Tavern as this show will be a benefit for a dear friend of the band who recently passed away due to a decade long battle with cancer.

The organizers of the Summer Slaughter tour have issued the following update about changing venues for tomorrow's show:
"Summer Slaughter tour in El Paso Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 20th) forced to move to Las Cruces, NM @ Beverly Hills Club due to shady owner of Club 101! Many of you may have noticed that The 4th Annual Summer Slaughter Festival in El Paso was advertised and on sale at Club 101 for quite some time. The owner was recently offered a Buckcherry show on the same day and outright canceled Summer Slaughter to replace it with Buckcherry because 'his bar sales would be much higher.'
"That is the crappiest thing you can do in this business and it really is despicable that he would be willing to screw over 10 touring bands and hundreds of fans out of greed for alcohol sales. Please spread the word to everyone you can about the new venue info for Summer Slaughter in El Paso/Las Cruces."
The tour includes Cephalic Carnage, The Faceless, Decrepit Birth, All Shall Perish, The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, and more.
Massachusetts tech-metallers The Red Chord have announced a series of shows taking place on days off from their current run on the Summer Slaughter 2010 tour.

August 25 – Cheyenne, WY @ Atlas Theater
We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week The Red Chord drummer Mike Justian shares one from their recent tour of Japan:
March 24, 2010. Tokyo, Japan. The Red Chord was performing the last show of a mini tour with Between The Buried And Me. Anticipation was high as the curtains opened to reveal an excited TRC for a zealous Japanese crowd. The heat was hot and my biorhythm wasn't cooperating with my under-nourished appendages, but the show was nevertheless happening and the crowd's enthusiasm was undeniable. During our third song, a large Caucasian mook of a man appears on the stage, meandering around as though he was looking for his beer. When, from out of nowhere, he runs from behind Greg (Weeks), pushes his bass into his head and dives off of the stage. I thought nothing of it until I saw that Greg was stumbling and bleeding profusely from his eye.
Obviously I was concerned so I gave him my towel and shortly after he exited the stage for a number of minutes. Unsure about whether he would be able to continue, Mike and I jammed for a bit, hoping for his return. Eventually he did come back but had to play most of the set lying down and half blind. It was at this point that my respect for Greg reached an even higher plateau than I thought possible, for his willingness to recognize that the show must go on even if your eye explodes.
The Red Chord hits the road in July with The Summer Slaughter Tour 2010 with Decapitated, The Faceless, All Shall Perish, and more.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

Forced to miss its European tour with Rotten Sound and Aborted due to the effects of the recent volcano in Iceland, The Red Chord has lined up two shows for fans on the East Coast. The shows are as follows:
April 24 - New England Metal and Hardcore Fest in Worcester, MA
April 25 - Brooklyn, NY - Public Assembly with Premonitions Of War and Tiger Flowers.
Kozowyk offers this explanation about the European tour, "We did everything we could to make it to this European tour with Rotten Sound and Aborted. Unfortunately, our best efforts couldn't get The Red Chord or Those Who Lie Beneath onto the continent until it was far too late. The remainder of the tour is uncertain, but if Rotten Sound and Aborted continue with the rest of it, we strongly advise and appreciate your support of the remaining shows. We will do our best to make up shows before the end of the year and we thank the bands, agents and fans for their patience and understanding during this ridiculous situation."
