Circus Diablo Frontman Billy Morrison Checks In
CIRCUS DIABLO frontman Billy Morrison has posted this message on his website:
"I will be editing up a quick V-Blog later today, but couldn't wait to tell you lot about the first week's show at The Roxy. Last night was, quite simply, 'one of those nights'!! The place was a sell-out, with people just wall-to-wall, ready for some killer Rock N' Roll. Drive A opened the evening and as I walked into the venue, I could see those kids jumping up and down and looking like total rock stars!! They sounded great and we were happy they came in the top five winners - awesome! Then we had Ace Harper and her DARLING STILETTOS dancing before we came on, and the whole place lit up like a Christmas tree when these girls walked onstage!! Punk Rock dancers, dressed in VERY little, and super hot routines...all done to ZEP/Idol/G 'N' R classics! What's not to like?!
So now it's our turn, and after a hugely stressful afternoon of guestlist / setup / soundcheck / logistics, I felt ready for a nap! But the moment we got up there, I woke up!! We have changed a bunch of songs up now, and have an arsenal of new tunes - we opened with CHEAP TRICK's 'Hello There' and then straight into BLUR's 'Song Two'. Mark McGrath (who is doing every show as our featured guest) came on and blew it all wide open with a killer version of Killing Jokes Eighties. And from there it just got surreal.....Poe singing LED ZEP's 'Good Times Bad Times', Nuno Bettencourt just NAILING OASIS' 'Rock And Roll Star', Warren De Martini (RATT) shredding 'Round And Round', Jerry Cantrell (not scheduled to play, but being part of the (CAMP) FREDDY Family, always welcome!) wandering out and killing it on 'Jailbreak', and of course, my personal highlight (not only of the show but maybe my entire career!) - doing the SEX PISTOLS EMI with Steve Jones AND Paul Cook!!
Lemmy (Kilmister - MOTÖRHEAD) came on to finish the night out and we did 'Ace Of Spades' (which is one of the most violent songs I have ever played!) and Eddie Cochran's 'Something Else', with Paul Cook and Matt Sorum on drums, THREE bass players (Lemmy, Chris Chaney and Corey Parks from NASHVILLE PUSSY!) and me, Navarro and Jonesy on guitars. 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' finished the night in true CAMP FREDDY FASHION fashion... with the DARLING STILETTOS joining us all onstage and every musician grabbing an instrument and jamming. We got four more of these crazy shows to do, and I strongly advise any fan of rock music not to miss any of them. Each week is different songs and different guests. Next weeks show is gonna BLOW YOUR MIND!!!
Circus Diablo Frontman Checks In
CIRCUS DIABLO frontman Billy Morrison has posted this message on his website:
"The weekend is here yet again. Last week Dave and I were both in Las Vegas (although on different missions!) but today we have an all-new CFR to look forward to - live tonight on Indie 103.1FM at 6PM PST. A few exciting things happening in FreddyLand, not least the five shows in May. As you can see, artwork is getting done, tee shirts are being printed, and we are looking forward to rocking the 'The month of MAYhem'!!
Also, the album 'Curtain Call' has been released, which features four American Idol finalists doing three songs each. Ryan Starr performs three songs on the album that I wrote and played on, so check that out. I did the songs a couple of years ago so its cool that they finally saw the light of day. The rest of the week has been a lot of behind the scenes stuff, and a bunch of meetings, so as and when things come to fruition I will let you all know. Some cool stuff in the blender at this time, so I am pretty excited. For now - Adios, Amigos!!"
Circus Diablo To Continue As A Four-Piece
Los Angeles-based rock act CIRCUS DIABLO will warm up for 2008 with a show in Venice, California on January 30 at club Venice Rocks. According to a posting on the group's MySpace page, "none of the band have the ability to be in two places at once, so due to THE CULT, RIDERS ON THE STORM and THE ALMIGHTY being busy and active, the decision has been made to continue CIRCUS DIABLO as a four-piece." The band's frontman, Billy Morrison, said "We all had a ton of fun writing and making that record, but it has proved impossible to commit to any serious plans with so many members being that busy. So much love and respect to the guys."
CIRCUS DIABLO will write and record a second album during 2008 with the current lineup of Morrison, Charles Ruggiero (drums; SLUNT), Rob Patterson (guitar; KORN, OTEP) and Patrick Cornell.
CIRCUS DIABLO recently posted the song "Mary's Shadow" on the group's MySpace page. The track is a bonus cut recorded during the sessions for the band's self-titled debut album, which came out this past summer via Koch Records.
Circus Diablo To Play Fangoria Convention
CIRCUS DIABLO frontman Billy Morrison has issued the following update:
"As the dust settles on 2007, we all gradually return to work/school/the couch and continue doing what we were doing before! For me this means a few things - and the first would be that Circus Diablo are regrouping next week for some rehearsals. We are playing a small show in Venice, CA at a club called Venice Rocks on January 30th to air a couple of new songs, bust out a guitar or two for me, and generally brush the cobwebs off and start the process of being a band again and writing for album number two. It'll be fun to play, and it will also show us how V2.0 of the band is going to work in '08. It looks like we can also tell you that we will be performing at this years Fangoria convention in LA, but more details on that one will have to wait until we have them. Primary focus is on writing some killer new songs and starting the process of getting in the studio."
The complete tracklist for Circus Diablo's self-titled debut album, released on July 3rd via Koch Entertainment, is as follows: 'Loaded', 'So Fine', 'Restless', 'Shine', 'Mad Parade', 'Red Sun Rising', 'Commercial Break', 'Hello, Goodbye', 'Ants Invasion', 'Rollercoaster', 'Dignified'.
Circus Diablo Frontman Checks In
CIRCUS DIABLO frontman Billy Morrison has posted this message on his official website:
"This is just a quickie to check in and wish everyone who has participated in this blog over the last year a HUGE HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a wonderful New Year. A few days ago, we had no plans and were sitting around in LA wondering what we should do for Christmas. Sometimes it's Scuba. This year it ended up being skiing!! We literally threw a bunch of stuff into some bags and headed up to Lake Arrowhead. The view from the room below was absolutely stunning and it just happens to be 25 miles from Big Bear, and some fun in the snow. Yesterday I went up Snow Summit and spent the afternoon skiing by myself. I actually did a couple of runs with the video camera, so trust me when I say I have a fun V-Blog coming soon!
It's one of the joys of living in SoCal - you can take a two hour drive into the snow, and then another hour drive and you are in 100 degree heat in the desert!! I am sure we will end up down there after Xmas - seems a shame not to hit our usual favorites...the spa and the steakhouse! Whatever happens, this year is a low key, low stress effort. Xmas day will be spent here in the hotel, and I can't think of a better way to avoid all the hassle and enjoy someone else's decorations/tree/red hat!!! Well, maybe at 70 feet beneath the ocean in a far away Polynesian ocean but that's another year.
Not the most glamorous hairstyle on the slopes, Mr. Morrison!! I have to admit that I am OG when it comes to snow - I have boarded a few times, but prefer skiing.... and it was nice to get some practice in before... Sundance Film Festival - is headed our way, and I will be found at the T-Mobile diner in Park City on Saturday, January 19, DJ'ing with Donovan. And other than that, I am DONE with thinking about work until after the New Year. It's been a fantastic '07 for me, with the whole CIRCUS DIABLO album release, a couple of nice enjoyable CAMP FREDDY outings, the emergence of the whole DJ thing for me (which I TOTALLY enjoy....not the best at it, but I love music, so who cares) and a couple of movies under my belt. I couldn't wish for more."
Circus Diablo Announces New Bassist
CIRCUS DIABLO — the new project featuring THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy, THE ALMIGHTY frontman Ricky Warwick (guitar), and ex-THE CULT touring bassist/current CAMP FREDDY guitarist Billy Morrison (vocals) — has parted ways with its bassist Brett Scallions (who is also the former frontman for FUEL and current singer for RIDERS ON THE STORM). According to Morrison, "Brett is deeply involved in being a new dad to Jagger, and has plans with RIDERS ON THE STORM, so with much love and respect, we will be moving forward with Patrick [Cornell] playing bass guitar. We had TONS of fun in '07 with Brett — he and Abby [Brett's wife] are beautiful friends — and we wish them much love and success next year."
CIRCUS DIABLO recently posted the song "Mary's Shadow" on the group's MySpace page. The track is a bonus cut recorded during the sessions for the band's self-titled debut album, which came out this past summer via Koch Records.
CIRCUS DIABLO's current touring lineup consists of Morrison, Warwick, Charles Ruggiero (drums; SLUNT), Rob Patterson (guitar; KORN, OTEP) and Cornell.
Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) played drums on the group's CD, which was released on July 3.

Hatebreed, Static-X, Circus Diablo On Free Ozzfest
Artisan News Service has uploaded a three-minute video clip featuring interviews with members of Hatebreed, Static-X and Circus Diablo about this year's "free" Ozzfest. Watch the footage below.
Regarding the decision to make this year's traveling festival a "free" event, Sharon Osbourne, the fest's driving force, recently told Scripps Howard News Service, "I'm not trying to be the Mother Teresa of the music industry, because I like money more than anybody else. [But] these kids cannot afford to keep shelling out all this money, every year charging more and more. The brakes have to come on somewhere."
To that end, Osbourne approached Michael Rapino, president of giant national concert promoters Live Nation, and suggested giving the tickets away. "He said, 'We might as well — nobody's making any money here,'" Osbourne recalled. "So that's what we did: We found sponsors to come in and underwrite the running part, and we found bands who just want the stage — they just want to perform."
Black Tide Back On Ozzfest 2007
They were deemed too young for the Jagermeister stage at Ozzfest but it looks like Black Tide have been promoted to the main stage at the music festival.
TuneLab is reporting that Black Tide has indeed joined Ozzfest after they announced last week that they had the opportunity taken away from them by the liquor giant Jagermeister because they were not old enough to drink. Sharon and co seemed to have gotten around this by bumping the band up to a coveted "main stage" slot. Not bad for a band who hasn't even released their debut album.
The band was called on earlier this week to replace Circus Diablo on the tour after that band pulled out of this year's "Free Fest". A few hours later as they prepared to leave to join the tour they had their Ozzfest dreams crushed.
They broke the news on their Myspace, "Jagermeister decided that since we were underage, they couldn’t allow us to play on their stage. We had the support of Live Nation and Ozzfest, but because Jagermeister owns the second stage, we can’t play. Sorry that we got anyone’s hopes up and we feel terrible about this whole ordeal."
The band's debut album on Interscope is set to be released sometime this year.
Circus Diablo Drop Off Ozzfest, Black Tide Dropped
Circus Diablo announced last Friday that they dropped off this years Ozzfest. A statement from front-man Billy Morrison reads:
"As I sit here in Dallas, TX, on the bus that has taken us from our home town of Los Angeles, to the middle of the South, it pains me to tell you all that we have to call it a day for now on the Ozzfest 2007. It has been a fantastic four weeks and we have had an amazing time. But two of our band, Ricky [Warwick, guitar] and Brett [Scallions, bass], have wives that are expecting babies any day now, and we just cannot continue heading east with that hanging over us. The guys need to be with their wives, and we all respect that. I hope you all understand that we have done our absolute best to get as far as we could this time around.
We will be heading back to Los Angeles tonight and we will regroup over the next few weeks and will be looking to head out again in support of our record in October. The babies will be well and truly in the world and fending for themselves by then!"
Black Tide, who were brought on to replace Circus Diablo, have already been dropped from the tour. Word is that they were too young to play on the Jagermeister-sponsored second stage.

Ozzfest 2007 VIP Ticket Plan Revealed
It was announced months ago that tickets for this summer's Ozzfest would be free to fans, and that the longest-running heavy metal festival would subsist on corporate sponsorships and little else.
But obtaining those free tickets for one of the dates on this year's run — which kicks off July 12 in Auburn, Washington, and continues through August 30 in West Palm Beach, Florida — might just give some metal fans a migraine.
First, you have to send an e-mail requesting tickets, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the Web site of one of the tour's various sponsors. Next, you have to wait until June 12 before you can enter that code on some other Web site to redeem two tickets to whichever date you'd like to attend. It's a whole rigmarole that some fans — or, more specifically, those willing to drop some serious scratch — can avoid.
That's right, folks — while this summer's Live Nation-sponsored Ozzfest will be free to most, some will fork over upward of $1,000 to get in. As in years past, Ozzfest's organizers will offer fans a number of VIP ticket packages for purchase, which will ensure them a seat for all the headbangin' action.
The festival's "Party Like a Rockstar" package — which includes preferred pavilion seating, access to the second-stage VIP viewing platform behind the mixing boards, access to the general VIP area, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host "to help you rock harder than you have ever rocked before" — returns this summer, and will set you back $300. There's also the "I'm Part of the Show" package, which costs $666 and includes all the same perks, in addition to a seat on the Ozzfest stage during Osbourne's concert-closing set.
There's also the "Platinum" package, which will be available by auction in the not-so-distant future. The starting bid will be $1,000 and will be limited to only 10 guests per show. This offer includes everything the "I'm Part of the Show" package does, and then some. Fans who win the auction will also get a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, along with a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne. The proceeds of these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The festival's 12th annual installment boasts a bill including Ozzy Osbourne, 3 Inches Of Blood, Ankla, Behemoth, Chthonic, Circus Diablo, Daath, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lamb of God, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Nile, Static-X and The Showdown.
The 24-city 12th annual OZZFEST will launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. Here are the tour dates: More...
Circus Diablo Announce Headlining Tour Dates
KOCH Records’ first signing for its new metal division, Circus Diablo, has announced headlining tour dates in between Ozzfest 2007 tour dates.
The band features members past and present from The Cult, Fuel, The Almighty and Camp Freddy. Circus Diablo is Billy Morrison (vocals), Billy Duffy (lead guitar), Ricky Warwick (guitar), and Brett Scallions (bass), with Charles Ruggiero of Slunt beating the skins live, while Velvet Revolver’s Matt Sorum performed all the drum tracks on the album, courtesy of RCA Records.
“KOCH got this because they got this,” remarked front man Morrison, “and we couldn’t be at a better place.” Morrison, the founder of the legendary, mega-star studded, Hollywood-based cover band Camp Freddy continues, “I will not be pining for some lost love while I hover over a piano, not even close. Rock exists below the belt and we intend to deliver rock the way it was meant to be: hard, fast, and dirty.”
The self-titled debut album will be released on July 3rd, 2007 and features the single, “Loaded.”
The band hits the road this summer in support of their debut album, with touring plans continuing through 2008. You can catch Circus Diablo at Ozzfest, and at press time the band has confirmed a co-headlining tour with Nick (Queens Of The Stone Age) Oliveri’s Mondo Generator.

Behemoth Added To Ozzfest 2007 Second Stage
Polish extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH have been added to the Ozzfest 2007 lineup. The band has landed the direct-support, non-rotating slot right before second-stage headliners HATEBREED. This is the first time a Polish act has ever participated in Ozzfest.
The Ozzfest 2007 billing is now shaping up as follows:
Main Stage:
OZZY OSBOURNE
LAMB OF GOD
[to be announced]

Nergal (vocals, guitars) states, "I couldn't be more proud about the fact that BEHEMOTH will be joining this year's Ozzfest! I'm speechless and beyond excited. No doubt it's going to be the brightest point of our career thus far, and I hope that this will help to spread dangerous and extreme music among the masses. It's an honor to team up with our longtime brothers in NILE and to share the stage with LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED, not to mention the legend himself! With such a bill, you can expect nothing but pure metal carnage! What makes me even more excited is the little fact that we will be releasing our new album during the tour. So expect songs from 'The Apostasy', as well as some older shit. We'll definitely make sure the set is going to be brutal as fuck. You've been warned!" More...

IN THIS MOMENT will spend this summer on Ozzfest 2007 as a part of the second stage's rotating lineup alongside such acclaimed artists as HATEBREED, NILE, THE SHOWDOWN and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, among others. This will be the group's biggest tour yet, and as guitarist Chris Howorth states, it is an opportunity they meet with open arms. "We are very proud and honored to be a part of this year's Ozzfest," he said. "Not only are we huge Ozzy fans and excited to be playing with him every day, but this year's festival is free, so everyone has a chance to come out and be a part of this amazing experience. It's going to be a great chance to reach out to an entirely new audience. We are also looking forward to playing with and getting to know all the rest of the bands on the tour. It's so surreal because not too long ago we were watching the Ozzfest as fans out in the crowd, and now we are performing. It's an unbelievable feeling — we are so blessed!"
