DevilDriver Comments On New Songs
As was previously reported, DevilDriver has begun writing new material for an upcoming album. DevilDriver drummer John Boecklin issued the following statement about the new songs:
"Just to clarify a few things on the subject of us writing new material!! Not one note of these songs are left over shit songs we could not pull together for our last record. I personally started writing for this album a week after recording 'Pray' and we have always done this. Writing for us is the fun part of all the stupid crap that goes on in this business. This is also not a quick attempt to get out of our record contract, even if we were trying to do so, none of us could release material we all felt was blatantly sub-par while giving each other high fives cause we got out of a contract.
"On our last record, I would say we stretched as far as we could outside of what we had done in the past, trying new and slower songs with vocal melody like 'its in the cards' or the rock like feel of songs like 'Back with a Vengeance' and 'teach me to whisper.' For our latest effort, we feel like musically going for the throat so to speak. Are we gonna make a death metal album? no! We always have a heavy emphasis on groove and hook. That will not change. We just feel we have a certain anger edge about us and the songs we are writing compared to our last one. It will not be rushed and if you are a fan, you will not be let down!!"
DevilDriver Writing New Songs
Bassist Jon Miller of DevilDriver has issued the following announcement about working on new material for an upcoming album:
"Dear DevilDriver fans, we are in Graz, Austria today with behemoth, scar symmetry and Arsis. We have 2 more weeks in Europe before we go home for a minute and then go to Australia. We now have six songs in the bag for the new album which we are looking to record sooner than later. We want to go faster and heavier on this one to answer any question on a 'direction' that we may be undertaking. We will keep you all up to date on this. That's all for now."
DevilDriver Issues Road Report
Guitarist Jeff Kendrick of DevilDriver has issued the following tour road report:
"I really, really apologize for being so fucking slow on the blogs from out here in Europe. What can I say, I have been having way too much fucking fun and we have been just killing it all over Europe and the UK. Okay to start we sold out almost every single show in the UK. Absolutely amazing and awesome! It exceeded my expectations and I was quite blown away to say the least. I can definitely say that we had such a good time with our friends in Malefice, Trigger The Bloodshed, Suicide Silence and the mighty Behemoth. Unfortunately, all the bands except Behemoth would only join us on that leg. We made some amazing new friends and just crushed the UK. Thank you to everyone that came out to fucking see us and make the UK the best tour we have ever done.
"For the last couple of weeks we have been enjoying mainland Europe and I can say that the shows have been nothing short of fucking amazing as well. This time around Behemoth is still here with us(As we are flip flopping with them during dates all over Europe) and we welcomed Scar Symmetry and Arsis to the tour. Neither band I have ever been very familiar with but they are both killing it and love to share a post gig beer with the entire tour. I love making new friends on tour and traveling so much we meet all kinds of people. I am always down for new friends as it just makes the entire touring experience a lot better. When your tour mates are cool it just makes the time go by that much quicker! More...
