Sothis Members Form Witch Casket
Ex-members of disbanded symphonic black metal group Sothis have regrouped to form new project Witch Casket. The band is currently hard at work on debut album "Hatred Index," which should see a late 2017 release.
Today, Witch Casket has premiered a first ever video for the song "That Damn Devil" - check it out below. The band described the video to Metal Insider bys aing: "The lyric video for 'That Damn Devil' was created by Witch Casket vocalist Drogoth, with the concept of making the album cover artwork 'come to life.' Guitarists Nylock and Neal Tiemann wrote the song, and this is the first song released from the band's upcoming debut album entitled 'Hatred Index.'"
The formation of Witch Casket began in 2013 when ex-Sothis guitarist Colin "Nylock" Cameron and guitarist Neal Tiemann started working on writing songs together in Nylock's Los Angeles studio. Sothis Gearing Up To Record New Album
Los Angeles based black metal act Sothis has issued the following announcement about gearing up to enter the studio and record a new album:
"Sothis will be entering Black Static Recording Studios beginning Saturday July 16th to begin tracking the new album. The band will likely be in the studio throughout August in order to complete all of the tracks for the new record.
"Thirteen new tracks are slated to be tracked and mixed and ultimately nine or ten of them will be released. More info, photos, videos, etc. will be posted as they become available."

Sothis Postpones L.A. Show
Sothis has issued the following announcement about the band's previously scheduled L.A. show being postponed:
"Due to circumstances out of our control, the Sothis/Mictlantecuhtli show in Los Angeles is being POSTPONED! The city is actually shutting down Lacy St on Friday & Saturday in order to film an episode of CSI. The police will not let anyone through the area in order to reach the venue as they have all of the proper permits to cut off that area from the general public.
"It is our hope that the show will be moved to Friday November 5th but the date has yet to be confirmed. We are truly sorry for the postponement. Please help us spread the word as we were just notified of this by the venue late Thursday evening (last night)."
Sothis Posts "Of Night And Silence" Video
“Of Night and Silence,” the new music video from Los Angeles-based black metallers Sothis, can be viewed below. The video was shot in Los Angeles with Csaba Fikker as director of photography and was directed and edited by the band’s vocalist Drogoth, who also handled all of the visual effects. “Of Night & Silence” is the opening track of Sothis’ debut album “De Oppresso Liber” which was tracked in Los Angeles and mixed by King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque at his Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden.
Sothis vocalist Drogoth commented on the video: “After making the 'De Oppresso Liber' video, the band wanted to make a video for another song from the same album, but do something a bit more affordable without compromising quality. I came up with the concept for the Of Night and Silence video because I felt that this song had great energy and perfect pacing for this type of concept."
Sothis is currently completing writing for their sophomore release and is scheduled to hit the studio this Spring for a release in late 2010. More...
Sothis Announces No Upcoming Tour Dates
California black metallers Sothis have issued the following update clarifying that they have no shows planned in the immediate future:
"We want to let all our fans know that we have absolutly NO SHOWS BOOKED at the moment. If you do not see the shows announced on this MySpace page then the show has not been confirmed on our side or we have never even been contacted about the show period.
"Again, if you don't see the show announced on our page do not believe it. You are always welcome to write us directly with questions, all messages are read and sincere messages will be responded too."
Sothis Premiers New Music Video Online
Shockhound.com has premiered a new video from LA symphonic black metal band SOTHIS. The video for the title track to the band’s current album, "De Oppresso Liber," was filmed in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles and features computer animation and performance footage of the six-piece band.

Sothis Explains Tour Date Cancellations
LA symphonic black metal band, Sothis, has issued the following statement regarding the cancellation of tour dates:
"It is with great disappointment we must announce that we’ll be cancelling the last three dates of the Candlelight Records III Tour as well as the four dates that were to immediately follow.

Italian Metal Band Sothis To Become Sawthis
Italian metal band Sothis has changed their name to Sawthis. The band commented:
"After 12 years, we have been forced to change monicker because of a homonymy with an american black metal band that has obtained the exclusive right, although started using the monicker later. Withering Soul Cancels Show Due To Injury
Chicago black metal band, Withering Soul, in conjunction with Pitch Black Productions has announced that Withering Soul will be canceling their May 2nd show in Mount Prospect, IL due to an injury to drummer, Marek. Marek’s injuries are only minor and he will return to his drum kit shortly.
According to a press release, this is the first show the band has ever cancelled and Withering Soul wants their fans to know that they did not make this decision lightly and that all possible options were taken into consideration. Withering Soul has never canceled a show in the past and even finished a set back in August of 2008 alongside Finntroll (Finland) after an injury that occurred on stage at Mokena’s Pearl Room. Candlelight Announces CIII Label Tour 2009
Candlelight Records has announced its third label packaged tour for North America. Set to kick off on June 6, CIII will feature the talents of US black metal legends Absu, with support coming from France’s Glorior Belli, Austin-based Averse Sefira and Los Angeles-based Sothis. The tour will visit 22 cities throughout the US and Canada beginning in San Marcos, California and wrapping up in Dallas, Texas on June 29. Tickets for all shows are currently on sale exclusively at Enterthevault.com. Tickets will go on sale through all local and online ticket agencies starting March 5.
Absu’s self-titled new album hits stores nationwide February 24. Currently featured on the cover of Metal Maniacs, the album is the first to offer new material from the highly regarded metal band in nearly eight years. This will be the band’s first large-scale tour since their tour alongside Enslaved in 1997.
France’s Glorior Belli make their first trip to North America as they participate on CIII. Their sophomore record, "Manifesting the Raging Beast," was released in 2007 via Southern Lord Records. The band now, signed to Candlelight, will begin recording of their label debut, titled "Meet Us at the Southern Sign," this month with hopes to see it released during the tour.
Averse Sefira joins CIII continuing to support their latest album, "Advent Parallax." Their participation on the tour is their third national tour in two years having previously toured with labelmates 1349 in 2007 and with friends Immolation in early 2008.
Sothis released their debut, "De Oppresso Liber," on September 2. Mixed by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), the record has enjoyed growing and consistent sales since release. This will be the band’s first national tour.
CIII follows the success of Candlelight’s previous label tours – the first in 2005 featuring Entombed, Crowbar, Pro-Pain & The Mighty Nimbus, and second in 2007 featuring Enslaved, Dark Funeral and then newcomers Abigail Williams. The label, maintaining offices in Philadelphia and London, continues to grow since launching American operations in 2001. Candlelight is distributed throughout the US exclusively via Caroline Distribution, EMI Music for Canada and Plastichead Music for the rest of the world.

Sothis Working On New Album
Two years after releaseing their debut album, “Fusion,” Sothis has announce the conclusion of pre-production of 13 new songs. Ten of these 13 new songs will be chosen for the new album. Paolo Ojetti (Infernal Poetry, Petemkin Studios) will be the Artistic Producer for the new album.
The album name, recording date and new singer name will be announced soon.
As previously reported, Sothis announced their split with the front-man Franco Topitti in late September. No replacement has been announced as of yet.
Abysmal Dawn Announces Western US Tour with Sothis
Los Angeles, CA's ABYSMAL DAWN have announced that they will be joining forces with SOTHIS for a western US tour in December, dubbed the "Endless Wintour." This Metal Maniacs sponsored tour will kick-off on December 5th in Bakersfield, CA and will round out in Hollywood, CA on December 14th.
ABYSMAL DAWN are touring in support of their newly released Relapse debut "Programmed To Consume." The band has recently filmed the first video from the album, for title-track "Programmed To Consume." The video was shot in Los Angeles, CA with director Gary Smithson (TOMAHAWK, HIGH ON FIRE, GOATWHORE) and is expected to make its world premiere imminently. Sothis Parts With Frontman Franco Topitti
The Italian thrash band Sothis has announced their split with the front-man Franco Topitti.
"After 10 years of concerts, records and incredible satisfaction, the band feel the obligation to guarantee, without to interfere, the suffered choice to leave due to characterial differences," states the band. "We infinitely thank Frank for all the sweat, the blood and the tears that gave us, memories that we will never forget!"

Sothis Signs To Candlelight Records
California black metal band Sothis have signed a record deal with Candlelight Records.
Candlelight commented "Sothis has completed their much-anticipated debut full-length album entitled "De Oppresso Liber." The album transcends their demo by leaps and bounds in their performance, production and songwriting. The album was tracked in Los Angeles and then mixed in Varberg, Sweden by Andy LaRocque of King Diamond fame at his Sonic Train Studios".
Sothis' first demo, a four song self-titled release, won them the "Best Independent" release of 2005 in Canadian magazine Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles.
Sothis Seeking Label Home
Los Angeles-based black metallers SOTHIS have finished mixing their new album, "De Oppresso Liber", at Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden with Andy La Rocque of KING DIAMOND. The CD, which was engineered and produced by Dross, will contain nine new original songs.
Commented the band: "We are now trying to find a home for our upcoming album and it is currently in the hands of labels. Once we've decided who will be releasing the album, we will be mastering the disc and then it will be pressed. It is very realistic to assume that the album will not hit shelves until summer at the earliest. Until then we will be regrouping and begin preparing to return to the stage in support of our upcoming release as well as beginning the writing process for our sophomore release. We'll continue to keep everyone updated on our progress as often as possible."

Sothis Complete New Record
US symphonic black metallers SOTHIS have issued the following update from drummer Dross:
"The new record is now complete."
"(Vocalist) Drogoth and I have finally recovered from our heavy drinking in Dublin, Ireland Saturday night and are now in Sweden sitting in the studio drinking coffee, making some eggs and waiting for Andy (La Rocque - KING DIAMOND) to arrive so that we can begin mixing the album."
"We plan on updating this blog every other day or so with photos and/or video etc. so stay tuned. We should have some photos up REALLY soon."
"We will NOT be doing any live shows until the new album is complete."
"That means there will be NO shows until March/April of 2008 at the earliest. We are working on several exciting new things for our live shows and are looking forward to getting back on stage as soon as possible. It is of course our hope to be able to tour as extensively as possible once the new album is released so hopefully we'll make it to a town near you."

Chicago based Symphonic Black Metal band VENEFICUM will be joining SOTHIS for a four day series of shows dubbed the “TEXAS INVASION TOUR”.

Sothis To Have Track Featured On "Bloodshed"
US symphonic black metallers, SOTHIS, will have the track "Sinister Nation" featured in the upcoming release of the feature horror/thriller film "Bloodshed." Produced by Drainbamage Films and directed by Jim McMahon, "Bloodshed" has been completed and is represented worldwide by Strategic Film Partners. There is no current domestic release date, but Spotlight Pictures is currently handling all sales for non-domestic markets. Sothis Named #1 Demo/Indie of 2005 By Brave Words
US symphonic black metallers, SOTHIS, have been named the “#1 Demo/Indie of 2005” in Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles Magazine (Issue #93). This honor comes from the magazine’s “Brave Underground” segment which reviews unsigned artists each month. SOTHIS are currently shopping around for a label.
In addition to the top honors in Brave Words, SOTHIS has had an incredible year in 2005 garnering much attention in the metal world. The band was named “the next big black metal band” earlier in the year by Brave Words with a demo rating of 9.5 out of 10. They were also featured in REVOLVER Magazine’s esteemed monthly “Bootleg Series” alongside notable artists such as Nile, Soulfly, and Darkest Hour. The band had also received full page feature stories in PIT magazine and the UK’s Zero Tolerance. All of these are notable accomplishments for an unsigned band.
