Silent Civilian Parts Ways With Guitarist

Dave Delacruz, former Silent Civilian guitarist, has issued the following statement in regards to his departure from Silent Civilian:

"As much as it was a difficult decision, it was the right decision. We made some great music and I was very happy to contribute to writing 50% percent of 'Ghost Stories'. I will now be putting all of my attention to my Orange County, California-based band Unveil The Strength, Unveil The Strength is a much more 'melodic' band in a sense. It's a bit slower at times but has its fast, dark, and heavy side with blistering guitar work. Every song tells a story in which most can relate to.

"We currently have been recording the debut from our home studio and it has been getting more and more attention since we've started putting out songs.

"We are very excited to see what the future has in store for us.

"You can check out the music and studio video [on Myspace].

"I hope you all enjoy it and I will be sure to see you on the road sooner than later!"

Guitarist/vocalist Jonny Santos commented: “I want to say that the ‘Fear Campaign’ tour was amazing! I am very proud and privileged to have been part of such an amazing metal tour. I want to thank Dino, Burt, Gene and Byron for allowing us to be on the tour. It was absolutely an amazing experience. I've had the pleasure of touring with FF in the past several times, and they never disappoint. I also want to thank all of the Prong guys for being super cool and amazing every night, as well as our very new, good friends in Thy Will Be Done.

Fear Factory Upates Tour Schedule

Candlelight Records today confirms three more in-store/meet-and-greets as part of Fear Factory's ongoing Fear Campaign American Tour 2010. All four members of the band will be available to meet with fans at Magnolia Thunderpussy in Columbus, Ohio on May 30, Digital Ferret Records in Philadelphia on June 6, and Vintage Vinyl Records in Fords, New Jersey on June 10.

Fear Factory, currently on tour supporting their latest album "Mechanize," had a brief scare earlier this week when their tour bus nearly went off road while in route to Boise, Idaho. Luckily no one was injured and the band made their show at Knitting Factory Concert House without much delay. Guitarist Dino Cazares says, “We were on our way to Boise for a day off when about 8:45am our bus driver fell asleep at the wheel. He swerved to the opposite side of the road. Most of us woke up when we felt the bus on the rumble strips and then the dirt. He woke up in time to swerve back onto our side of the road and pull over.” Continuing he notes, “thank god there was no on coming cars or 18-wheelers on the road. Everyone is fine just a little nervous.”

Silent Civilian To Tour With Fear Factory

Silent Civilian is set to kick off a touring cycle for the new album "Ghost Stories" on May 16th with Fear Factory, Prong, and Thy Will Be Done. The trek will take the band cross country and fans can expect to hear songs from the new album, which is set for a May 18th release through Mediaskare Records. The new songs "Atonement" and "Victim of Fear" are also currently available for streaming via the Silent Civilian MySpace page.

Jonny Santos (vocals, guitars) comments: “I am very excited to be a part of this tour. Not only has FF been one of my all-time favorite bands, but they have been like family to me over the years, especially Dino. He is like my metal Dad, and had a lot to do with the start of my career back in the early SS days. He gave me my first U.S. and European tours and basically taught me how to survive on the road, as well as proper tour etiquette. This tour couldn’t have come to us at a better time, since our record comes out 5/18 and the tour starts two days before that. It will allow us to sell the record at our merch booth and give the fans an opportunity to meet the band and get a CD signed.

“We have always been a band that tries to stay close to our fans and interact with them as much as possible. I also feel that this tour will open us up to a lot of fans who have never heard of us and push the SC name out there a little more. I have to say I’m just as excited to tour with Prong. I was a huge fan of them as well when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in Thy Will Be Done and predicting this tour to be an all around success! We are going to play a lot of new material live, and plan on crushing the fans every night. This is gonna be one brutal fucking tour, and I am very honored to be a part of the ‘Fear Campaign.’ I will see all you guys out there on the road.”

Silent Civilian Posts New Song Online

SILENT CIVILIAN's new album, "Ghost Stories," is set for a May 18th release and the band has teamed up exclusively with Revolver Magazine to present the worldwide debut of the track “Atonement.” Check it out here.

Jonny Santos (vocals) describes the meaning behind the track, “The song ‘Atonement’ is basically about being cast away by someone you respect, love and hold in high regards. Lost loyalty, yet still holding on to what was once true. I was lyrically inspired by someone whom I loved and adored, but whom was too swayed by the next door neighbor’s lawn instead of watering their own. People need to think twice before making decisions they will regret for years to come. We play the song live and it has been met with nothing but praise. It’s a combination of tragedy and violence. It differs from the rest of the album in the sense of being more of melodic, yet shows how the band has grown adhering to no boundaries. This is atonement.”

Silent Civilian Begins Recording New Album

Silent Civilian, the band led by Spineshank vocalist Jonny Santos, has begun recording their second studio album, which is expected to be released next year through Century Media Records.

Santos explains: "Getting back into the studio to record the 2nd Silent Civilian record is very exciting. I felt that the first record was a success and feel very fortunate to be able to do it again. It has been a few years of hard touring and after a much needed vacation the batteries are charged and we are back in full force. Tracking a record like this is not an easy task and I will never get used to the endless hours of what goes into making one, but the magic that happens during the process is amazing. I believe that as much as you prepare for a record, a good 50% of what makes that record so special, happens in the studio. Silent Civilian has finally come of age in my eyes, stepping out from behind the shadow of my other band Spineshank. It is now perceived as its own entity by our fans and not seen as merely a ‘side project.’ The delay of this record was also due to my reunion with Spineshank, so needless to say, I have been super busy.

"Musically, this record is very different from the last, but evolution is the key to longevity in my eyes. I believe we are making a record that will retain what is the main essence of SC, but maturing greatly pushing forward. Having another guitar player contribute more to this record as opposed to the last, in which I wrote 90% of the music, is a plus. This record is also much more violent than the last and will be less produced in the sense that I am really trying to capture the elements of a ‘live’ thrash metal band on tape. There is not much room to breathe with this one, and I want to sonically beat the shit out of the listener without losing their interest. Dynamically, it will be a roller coaster of beatings and abuse! Don't get me wrong, we will still have very melodic moments as well, because melody has always been a strong part of metal. I am going with a lot of very traditional thrash metal riffs, because I don't really listen to very many newer bands out of fear that I will be influenced into sounding like the band of the week. I would rather be influenced by the bands that pioneered this genre of music (Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Death Angel (my favorite), Forbidden, etc) I promise that this new Silent Civilian disc is going to rip your fucking face off.

"We also leave on a massive North American headlining run on August 24th, which I can’t wait for. I love touring and it's been a year and a half since we've been on the road. With new bassist Shaun Fieler and guitarist Dave De La Cruz returning to the band, I believe we will have an extremely dynamic and solid live show. Dave is playing better than ever and Shaun is just an amazing musician all around. He is a great singer as well, which is good when it comes to doing harmonies live. We will be hitting every major U.S. market, so head over to our MySpace page for dates. As far as setlists are concerned, we will be playing about 4-5 new songs during our set in support of the new release. In the meantime, we have posted demo versions of the new songs on our page for the fans to listen to. We will also be posting video blogs of us in the studio to kind of give the fans an inside look at Silent Civilian and the progression of the record. We look forward to seeing you all soon."

Silent Civilian To Release New Album In October

Silent Civilian, the band fronted by Spineshank vocalist Jonny Santos, will be releasing a brand new studio album this year entitled, "Ghost Stories." To help get fans ready for the release, the band has posted a new song on their official Myspace entitled, "The Last One Standing." You can check it out here.

Speaking on the song and the album, Santos states: "The Last One Standing’ is, to me, the best representation of what is to come from the next record. I feel it has all the elements of what Silent Civilian is, but also shows where the band is going. It has all the elements needed to be a great S.C. song, but also shows a maturity in the songwriting dept. Lyrically it is an anthem for individuality. Basically it’s a song against anyone who is being controlled by anything - a song that promotes free thinking and non-conformity.

"The record as a whole is very diverse in the sense that the whole band contributed to the writing process this time around, instead of it primarily being Chris and I, like on the last record. I feel that we have got through our growing pains, and the fans will hear that on ‘Ghost Stories’. This record has more of a raw, unpolished vibe to it. I feel it has a very ‘dangerous’ vibe to it, for lack of a better term. It seems like this band only does well under stress and pressure, or flying by the seat of our pants in the face of adversity, and I wanted to capture that feeling in the song writing this time around. It is a brutal record, and that's the bottom line. It will kick your face in repeatedly and that's what Silent Civilian is all about. We are looking forward to being back on tour and seeing our fans again this summer, and we can't wait to put this record out!!!"

Silent Civilian Will Continue

A posting on the official Spineshank Myspace has confirmed that Silent Civilian, the band formed by lead singer after his departure from Spineshank, will not disband. The full post reads as follows:

"You guys are awesome!! the response from you has been amazing, it feels like we never went away. i would love to respond to each of you personally, and i will try to get to that, but i just wanted to answer a few questions that have been coming up a lot. First of all, you dont have to worry about us abandoning our sound, there will be plenty of electronics/loops/synths on this record. Jonny is also singing better than he ever has, so there will be a ton of singing and melody as well. This will definitely be heavier than our previous albums but it will not be all bashing. I can whole heartedly promise you that we will not be trying to be anything we are not. this is simply going to be Spineshank 5 years later. there will be a few new elements but it will be undeniably us (for better or worse!!!)

"As far as Silent Civillian goes, Jonny is obviously concentrating on Spineshank right now, but he does plan on doing another record in the future. Jonny will also be playing some guitar in spineshank from now on, It will give Mike a little bit freedom in a live setting and add a bit more balls to the live show. If you guys have any questions dont hesitate to ask, it may take some time but we will try to get back to each one of you."
