Bloodywood To Release New Album In March

Bloodywood, torchbearers and metal barrier-breakers hailing from India, are thrilled to announce their new album "Nu Delhi," out 21st March via Fearless Records. To celebrate the good news, the band has shared the video for new single "Tadka," which can be found below.

With "Tadka," the band offers up another gritty and groove metal anthem with traditional instrumentation. The song packs a nu metal punch, pairing monster truck-sized riffs and hell-bound screaming with classic sounds that reflect their culture. Bloodywood walks the line between genres fearlessly and without a net, and the result is a hard rock banger unlike which you've heard before.

"‘Tadka’ is a metal tribute to Indian food," the band declares. "The word ‘Tadka’ is a cooking process in Indian cuisine where spices are heated in hot oil or ghee to create a more aromatic flavour... It's about going the extra mile in the pursuit of a greater flavour."

The band continues, "The song highlights the multi-faceted chaos of Indian kitchens that are tasked with perfectly executing centuries-old recipes on a daily basis as well as the immense joy they brings to most people. This is a never-ending love story that connects an entire nation. From the fanciest fine dining restaurants to the simplest road side stall, everyone brings something magical to the table, but the undisputed champion of the cuisine is the Indian household kitchen. When you fuse these recipes and techniques with the love of an Indian family home, the result is unbeatable." More...

Diamond's Mine: The Best Of 2022

It's been quite a year. A year that saw regular live shows return, bands hit the road once again, festivals re-open and most importantly, some stellar new music! We said goodbye to bands such as Nuclear Assault, Tristania, The Sword and Every Time I Die and welcomed back old favourites like Biohazard, Coal Chamber, God Forbid and most surprisingly, Pantera. But we'll start with something new and hand out the award for...

Best Newcomer

2022 saw quite a few bands emerge with their debut albums. One which really caught the ears of listeners was Philadelphia's, Empress, with their first album, "Fateweaver." Some truly wonderful artwork leads the way into some excellent symphonic power metal and won over plenty of new fans. Other notable debuts came from the East of the globe with such bands as Ou from China, whose progressive debut "One" was an interesting one (oh ho ho,) while to the south of China in India, we find the winners of this year's award.

Bloodywood

Maybe a slightly controversial one as Bloodywood has been around for a little while, but it was in 2022 that they released their first full length album of original material, "Rakshak." Metal has always been open to incorporating new genres and cultures (even if a section of fans that we don't like to talk about aren't so keen on the latter) and in a year which saw the USA hear the sounds of Indian folk metal in a broader sense. Bloodywood has reached a much wider audience by releasing their first album and the metal world were happy to welcome them. Let's hope they're around for a long time to come. More...

Download Festival Announces First Sixty Bands

The organisers of Britain's Download festival have announced the first sixty bands to play at the event's twentieth anniversary next year. Of note, Metallica will be performing two headlining sets, while the other headliners will be Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. A statement from Metallica reads as follows:

"Open up the summer calendar as we’re super excited to announce that we’ll be celebrating the Download Festival’s 20th anniversary with not one, but two headline nights on June 8 and 10, 2023! It's been over a decade since we hit the stage in Donington Park, so we’ll be making up for lost time with two unique and completely different setlists with no repeat songs whatsoever that weekend.

"This year’s festival will take place over four days and we’re lucky enough to start the party on night one, June 8th. Hitting the stage as headliners the other two nights are Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. The long weekend will be jam-packed including Evanescence, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Pendulum, Architects, Ghost, The Distillers, Placebo, Alexisonfire, Asking Alexandria, Motionless In White, I Prevail, The Blackout (reunion), Fever 333, Stray From The Path, Lorna Shore, Nova Twins and Municipal Waste, with many more still to be announced.

Bloodywood Shares New Music Video

Put down your morning coffee, New-Delhi arena metallers Bloodywood are about to kick so hard they fire you into the weekend. To celebrate the release of their debut album "Rakshak" (out today!), the band are elated to present the music video for their heaviest song ever, "Dana Dan."

'Dana Dan' begins with the thudding of the South Indian 'Nagada' drums, before the razor-sharp rapping of Raoul Kerr comes in then gives way to the ferociousness of vocalist Jayant Bhadula. Here the entire band are firing on 11 to produce their most sonically thrilling track yet. There's going to be some crazy pits when the band play this one live...

Speaking about the new single, Bloodywood say: "'Dana Dan' is a graphic commentary on sexual assault and the need to eliminate it. It begins with the reflexive, almost homicidal rage we feel when we hear about these crimes, before moving on to a more level headed call to arms. It culminates in a gentle appeal for all of us to reflect on the role we play in creating a world where atrocities of this nature are committed and to work towards eliminating it altogether."
