Hinayana Unveils "Triptych Visions" Video
Austin, Texas based melodic death metal band-to-watch Hinayana recently announced the release of their unmissable upcoming sophomore full-length album, "Shatter And Fall," out November 10, 2023 via Napalm Records. Setting them apart from contemporaries like Insomnium, Amorphis and Swallow the Sun, "Shatter And Fall blends" modern, accessible elements with equal parts melody and menace, emerging as a fresh entry in this year’s most head-turning metal offerings.
Today, following their recent debut of massive first single "Reverse The Code," Hinayana reveals the somber yet spine-tingling second single "Triptych Visions". The track features some of "Shatter And Fall’s" most melancholic and introspective moments, with a grooving introduction, unforgettable chorus and an exemplary solo.
Frontman Casey Hurd says about "Triptych Visions":
"Be it addiction or simply yearning for another life, we can often get lost in our mind’s eye. 'Triptych Visions’ is about one’s own inability to break loose from such a vicious cycle of self-destruction and escapism, regardless of the pain it always ends in. The track showcases an intense and emotional facet of HINAYANA’s new sonic direction." More...
Hinayana To Release New Album In November
In 2018, Austin, Texas based melodic death metal unit Hinayana ensnared the masses with their self-released debut, Order Divine, and later defied the pandemic with their subsequent 2020 release, the "Death Of The Cosmic" EP. Now, the band returns with their long-anticipated sophomore full-length, "Shatter And Fall," out November 10, 2023 via Napalm Records - and it proves well worth the wait.
Produced by frontman Casey Hurd and Kevin Butler with mastering by Dan Swanö at Unisound, Shatter And Fall features guest contributions from melodic death metal purveyors and labelmates Tuomas Saukkonen of Wolfheart and Vincent Jackson Jones of Aether Realm. Setting them apart from genre greats like Insomnium, Amorphis and Swallow the Sun, "Shatter And Fall" incorporates modern, accessible elements, emerging as a fresh entry in this year’s most unmissable metal offerings. The album serves as a darker, more solemn work in comparison to their debut, yet superior without question in songwriting, technicality and cohesiveness.
Today, the band kicks things off with groove-laden first single "Reverse The Code." Backed by an impressive official music video, the track boasts catchy chorus progressions, engaging verses and technical aptitude, blending progressive touches with punishing extremity.
Frontman Casey Hurd says about the track:
"Regrets and mistakes. 'Reverse The Code' is about our hopeless and futile desire to be able to go back in time and change things in our past. The single serves as a perfect introduction to the fierce evolution of our sound that is 'Shatter And Fall.'" More...

Hinayana Posts New Lyric Video Online
Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit Hinayana recently announced the upcoming release of their crushing "Death Of The Cosmic" EP - set for release on August 28, 2020 via Napalm Records.
Today, Hinayana are shadowing the reveal of the music video for their charging, melancholy first single "Cold Conception" (featuring trailblazing late Tengger Cavalry frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nature Ganganbaigal on Morin Khuur), with another new track - the massive, warning "In Sacred Delusion", featuring Toni Toivonen of Hanging Garden. The band has also launched a new lyric video to accent the riveting track.
Vocalist/guitarist Casey Hurd states about the track and working with Toni Toivonen:
"'In Sacred Delusion' is about the inevitability of our own self destruction. We are all in some way walking towards the flame of our own demise, both collectively as humans and individually as people. We are on a path that sometimes seems like we cannot stray from, eventually burning the world around us and giving into the hellscape we’ve made for ourselves. The song incorporates more of the band’s doomy side, with downtempo riffing and emotional passages topped off with the guttural vocals of Hanging Garden’s Toni Toivonen. It was a sort of surreal experience to be able to share a track with vocalist of a band which has inspired my own writing so much and that I’d listened to for so many years. Toni is a fantastic musician to work with and I know he’s been looking forward to seeing this track be released just as much we have, so this is a very special moment for all of us!" More...
Hinayana Reveals EP Details
Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit Hinayana have been turning heads in the metal scene since their formation in 2014, starting out as a one-man band spearheaded by frontman Casey Hurd. Now, after releasing their crushing 2018 full-length "Order Divine" and subsequently securing the attention of Napalm Records, Hinayana are poised to release their next musical offering – the crushing "Death Of The Cosmic" EP – set for release on August 28, 2020.
Otherworldly and haunting while maintaining a crushing, colossal heaviness and peppered with undeniable groove, the "Death Of The Cosmic" EP emphasizes improved production and keen songwriting. Primarily self-produced by the band with mixing/drum recording from Kevin Butler and mastering by Swallow The Sun’s Juho Raiha, fans will also notice the new EP’s heightened concept in comparison to the band’s previous releases.
Opening title track "Death Of The Cosmic" sets off with optimistic ambience, quickly blasting into an ethereal universe of blazing leads and acoustic soundscapes capped by vocalist Casey Hurd’s deep, menacing growls. "Cold Conception" rushes in with melancholic energy before transforming into a dark, galloping anthem accented by the Morin Khuur stylings of late Tengger Cavalry mastermind Nature Ganganbaigal and a melting solo from Erik Shtaygrud. Mystic instrumental interlude "Yet Here I Wait Forever" showcases the dynamic, softer side of Hinayana before picking back up with the stunning down-tempo gripper "In Sacred Delusion," featuring a guest appearance from Toni Toivonen (Hanging Garden). Death Of The Cosmic closes with the sorrowful 5-minute epilogue "Pitch Black Noise" – not only proving Hinayana's identifiable auditory trademark of melding tranquility and thunderous intensity, but also underlining the existential depth of their lyrical approach.
Tracklisting:
1. Death of the Cosmic
2. Cold Conception (feat. Nature Ganganbaigal)
3. Yet Here I Wait Forever
4. In Sacred Delusion (feat. Toni Toivonen)
