Background

It all began in 1991, the first of an unholy trinity of demos was complete. The young lads knew they had started something dark; something evil; something out of this world. They didn't disappoint with the release of their debut album 'The Principle of Evil Made Flesh' in 1994 on the label Cacophonous. The full length CD was a menagerie of gothic keyboards, metal riffing and Vampyric imagery. In other words the ultimate hammer horror soundtrack.

Drawing from an incredibly infinite list of influences, including the likes of Bathory, Celtic Frost and Diamanda Galas, and also the literary genius of Lord Byron, Sheridan LeFanu, Friedrich Nietzsche, Bram Stoker and Charles Baudelaire, Cradle Of Filth have produced albums of ever increasing quality. Soaring, sonic masterpieces that envelop you and take you away into the darkest depths of the collective Cradle mind. A dreamlike place full of legend, myths and Vampyres.

With 10 years in the past, Cradle Of Filth only have the future to conquer. Their recent concerts have built a fan base they never dreamed of. They truly have withstood the test of time.

Cradle Of Filth Issues Road Report

Cradle of Filth front man Dani Filth has issued the following road report:

"Dear noble fiends and fiendesses, sons and daughters of Lilith and all-round decent, slightly morbid folk; Dani here writing from our elongated big blue tour-bus on the fourth from last date of the second leg of the Filthfest out here in Europe with Moonspell, Turisas and Dead Shape Figure in support.

"Firstly I must apologise for the substantial delay in posting a blog here on the website, but we have been so busy of late that a sabbatical was in order for a few weeks at least, culminating in a snowboarding holiday in Slovenia and a booze and bowling fuelled family Easter weekend shortly before embarking on our present campaign. Don't ask.

"Those of you who might have seen us in the past few weeks (and in the coming days at least) will be aware that due to aforementioned teaching commitments, both Rosie Smith and Charles Hedger have been temporarily replaced by Ashley Ellyllon (formerly of US band Abigail Williams) and James Mcilroy (formerly of the Nymphetamine Cradle line-up) for this tour and possibly further. I can't really say much more than they are integrating brilliantly and the band is going from strength to strength because of them. More...

Cradle Of Filth Singer Storms Off Stage

Metal As Fuck reports:

"Having CRADLE OF FILTH in the City Of Churches caused a lot of excitement, and they played a pretty good set. But Dani Filth walking off-stage in the middle of a track, thereby pretty much ending the show, was baffling, a little bit unprofessional, and a bad way to end a good night." More...

Cradle Of Filth To Co-Headline Bloodstock 2009

Cradle of Filth and Blind Guardian have been confirmed for the 2009 Bloodstock Festival. The organizers of the festival have issued the following statement:

"The Bloodstock team are delighted to announce that both BLIND GUARDIAN and CRADLE OF FILTH have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2009. The pair will co-headline one day of the festival and the event will mark the ONLY UK shows of 2009 for both bands!

"Following Blind Guardian’s unfortunate cancellation in 2007, the Bloodstock Open Air team have responded to constant demand from the festival’s core fans and brought the band back to Bloodstock at the earliest possible opportunity.

"Neither Cradle Of Filth nor Blind Guardian will need any introduction to metal fans. Both are leaders in their genres, and both have built long and successful careers through hard work, dedication, a refusal to compromise and, of course, some very fine metal music along the way."

Ex-Cradle Of FIlth Drummer Joins Paradise Lost

Adrian Erlandsson, the former drummer for Cradle Of Filth, The Haunted and At The Gates, has been confirmed as the new permanent drummer for British goth metal group Paradise Lost. Erlandsson states:

"Paradise Lost has been one of my favourite bands since I first heard them in 1990. When my fellow BRUJERIA member Jeff Walker told me that PL were looking for a drummer I got in contact with Greg straight away. After a few chats and emails I was on my way to the audition. I had learnt 10 songs out of their last setlist, but after playing only 4 songs Nick said, 'the job is yours if you want it'. Great success!! I look forward to growing even older with the lads and rocking hard with them live!!!!" More...

Asrai Issues Post-Tour Report

Freshly back from the Darkest Tour with CRADLE OF FILTH, GORGOROTH, MOONSPELL and SEPTICFLESH, Dutch goth metallers ASRAI wrote the following report of this European tour that took place in December, ending in an unexpected way:

"We were looking forward to this tour for a long time. Finally the Darkest Tour kicked off on Monday December 1st. Early in the morning together with our tour manager and driver we headed in our van to London, where we would meet everybody and go on the tour bus. Everything went well from Calais to Dover, until we got stuck in traffic. And soon we heard that we were not the only ones... Time was not our friend, so when we heard that there was a possibility that one of the bands couldn't play we drove like maniacs through the streets of London. We arrived with adrenaline rushing though our veins, although it didn't help us much... We heard that one band couldn't play... And in this case it was us... Well at least we had all the time to watch all the shows and enjoyed being there.

"So when after the shows finally 52 people and all the stuff found their way in four tour busses, one truck and a trailer we were ready to go to Paris... Peter brought back our van, ready to meet us at 013. After a bumpy ride we woke up in Paris, with one eye open we saw the Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre and it was time to get up... First we drove straight up to a parking space near the Seine, so there was enough room at the Bataclan to unload the truck. After a glance at the Seine we went back to the bus, up to the Bataclan, where a queue was waiting. The venue was beautiful and the breakfast was nice and more than welcome, giving everybody the time to know one another. Hard work to set everything up on time but it was all worth it. The audience was great and it was nice to finally meet the people from SOM. More...
