Killswitch Engage To Re-Issue New Album

Roadrunner Records has posted this press release:

Hear ye, hear ye: Roadrunner Records Royal subjects KILLSWITCH ENGAGE of Springfield, MA present herewith a theatrical debut: a classic pantomime of "Holy Diver", its origins based in neighbouring province Portsmouth, NH penned by decorated yeoman Ronnie James Dio. Master drama instructor Brian Thompson (ye olde video director) humbly invites members of the Royal Court to enjoy his lively interpretation of the epic prose.

The Cast: Fair Maiden - Adam Dutkiewicz, Ironsmith - Howard Jones, His Royal Highness - Justin Foley, Adorned Knight - Mike D'Antonio, Necromancer - Joel Stroetzel.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, make haste to your seats, and heed the tale of the Adorned Knight (Mike D'Antonio), as he returns, fresh from battle, to find his Fair Maiden (Adam Dutkiewicz) under the death-like spell of an evil necromancer (Joel Stroetzel)! His Royal Highness (Justin Foley) and celebrated kinsmen: among them sergeants of law, millers, yeomen and friars alike raise goblets and dine on freshly slaughtered beast as thein Armour-Clad hero gallops forth into the eve…to fight spirits and forces unbeknownst, with hopes to release his betrothed from such black and unnatural alchemy. Eyes will refrain to blink as the sorcerer commands by ways of his all-seeing orb, and travels light as zephyr through the wood! Breeth will be held; gasps heard as the castle's Rogue Ironsmith (Howard Jones) skulks whenceforth in the darkness of the dungeon, pensively waiting, with haste. Blood will be spilled anon, but who shall be slain?

Over 300,000 legions of commoners and peasants have been clamoring the castle walls in hopes of catching a glimpse of "Holy Diver". The Royal Brigade has been ordered to ensure the ramparts hold, and with brute force send them back into pestilence with a proclamation decreed herein.

Alas, on the second fortnight of the eighth month of our lunar calendar (August 28, 2007), a special edition of "As Daylight Dies", KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's musical masterpiece, will enter shoppes and vendorplaces. Additional arias include "Be One", "Let The Bridges Burn", "This Fire" and "Holy Diver". A visual component will accompany the musical compositions: "My Curse", "The Arms Of Sorrow" and the aforementioned "Holy Diver" (unavailable elsewhere, save for a personal invitation to a performance by His Highness), as well as documented rehearsal of "My Curse" and "The Arms Of Sorrow".

KSE Guitarist Forced To Miss Warped Shows

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's enigmatic guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has been forced to leave the band in the middle of its successful run as stand-out performers on the Vans Warped Tour due to health reasons. Adam underwent back surgery in early 2007. In order to fully recover, his doctors have advised leaving the tour and continuing with daily physical therapy. The group will continue on as a four-piece, with their guitar tech Josh Mihlek filling in for Adam on select songs. After playing with this lineup on the July 31 Milwaukee and August 1 Cincinnati Warped dates, the band feels confident that this solution works well and will allow them to finish the tour.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's video for the cover of the DIO classic "Holy Diver" has been posted on MySpace. The clip was shot in the Calistoga, California area the weekend of June 16-17 with director Brian Thompson.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's cover of DIO's "Holy Diver" will be included on the upcoming reissue of the band's most recent album, "As Daylight Dies", which will be given the special-edition treatment on August 28. This special-edition CD/DVD will contain three videos and four previously unreleased tracks.

"As Daylight Dies" has sold 266,000 copies in the United States since its November 21 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD is the follow-up to 2004's Grammy-nominated album "The End of Heartache", and 2005's gold-selling DVD "(Set This) World Ablaze".

KillSwitch Engage Plan New Single

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will release new digital single 'The Arms Of Sorrow' on June 4 to coincide with their main stage performance at the Download Festival on June 10. Taken from latest album 'As Daylight Dies', the band recently premiered the new video for the track exclusively on MySpace. Watch it here.

Following guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz's back surgery in January, requiring some months of recovery, Killswitch Engage regret that he will not be joining them at Download this year. Instead, they will perform with Pat Lachman (Damageplan) joining them on guitar. Lachman has been filling in with KsE in the USA and the band are delighted he is able to help them out in the UK as well. He will also play guitar at their make-up Bristol Academy show (support: Sanctity) on June 6 and at Belfast's Balmoral Hall on June 8 (with Machine Head/Chimaira).

Adam D sends this note: "Hey guys. I'm pretty bummed that I won't be able to make it across the pond and indulge in the fine brews and meat sandwiches of Europe this summer. Though I'm feeling tons better I really need to get further rest, drink more protein shakes, and flex in the mirror while listening to Night Rangers' greatest hits. I need to be in top form for the Warped Tour here in late June. I'll definitely be seeing you guys on the next run though! Much love and God bless!"

In other KSE news, bassist Mike D'Antonio's signature model recently went on sale from Ibanez. Mike says: "I wanted to base my signature model after one of my favorite basses: the SRX700. My only requirement was that it needed to look even tougher and more metal (than your ma's kettle). The MDB has a simplified control layout I prefer, the great SRX pickups, and a customized graphic I designed. The bass is HUGE sounding, comfortable to play, and looks killer. What more could you want?"

The No Fear Music 2007 Tour Hits Washington, DC

On Saturday, March 3, 2007 I went downtown yet again to the 9:30 club to see Chimaira, Dragonforce and Killswitch Engage perform the second of two sold out shows on the DC stop of the No Fear Music Tour. He Is Legend were openning the show, but due to prior commitments, I wasn't able to catch them.

I arrived a couple songs into Chimaira's set. The club was already packed very close to capacity. Chimaira continued to belt out what would be the heaviest songs and performance of the night with songs mostly from their previous two albums "Chimaira" and "The Impossibility of Reason." They played a couple of new songs from their then-upcoming album (since released March 6), "Ressurection," as well. "Needle" seemed very heavy and fit well within their set. Other favorites included "Pure Hatred" and staple slow-and-heavy song "Salvation." More...

Dream Theater Confirmed For Download Festival

Dream Theater confirmed today that they'll be playing UK's Download 2007. Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy can't wait: "Fuck yeah! It's about time!!! I am absolutely stoked for Dream Theater to finally play Download... In a career already filled with so many personal achievements and dreams having been realized, somehow an invitation to play Download or Donington has always eluded us thus far... After all our hard work for the past 21 years and having made so many fans and friends in the U.K., it's nice to finally get the invitation! This gig will come within the first month of a world tour that will last well into 2008 for us, but I can already predict this will be one of the highlights of the year for us..."

Killswitch Engage Recruit Ex-Soilwork Guitarist

Pete Wichers formerly of Soilwork, will fill in as KSE's second guitarist for the remainder of their Euro tour.

Guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has been forced to miss a series of shows after sustaining a serious back injury. The band has since issued the following update:

"OK, here's the deal. Adam and Howard [Jones, vocals] were sick and wanted to do the Brixton show [in London]. Once they got to the club, both got to see the local physician. After both seeing the doc the prognosis was Howard had a chest infection. Adam, however, was doing much much worse. No way he could do the show, and he was immediately ushered to a nearby hospital. After a series of test, it was decided that Adam would need back surgery again ? no more shows, no flying home first, no exceptions.

"We are pleased to report that he has just left surgery, is doing fine and resting comfortably. Adam and the band appreciate all the messages and concern that everyone has shown.

"Concerning the rest of the tour, it will continue with Pete Wichers (ex-SOILWORK) filling in for Adam on guitar. Adam will be missed, but he wants the tour to go on more than the rest of the band so we will try to miss as few shows as possible, and make up as many as we can."
