Dream Theater Confirmed For Download Festival

Dream Theater confirmed today that they'll be playing UK's Download 2007. Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy can't wait: "Fuck yeah! It's about time!!! I am absolutely stoked for Dream Theater to finally play Download... In a career already filled with so many personal achievements and dreams having been realized, somehow an invitation to play Download or Donington has always eluded us thus far... After all our hard work for the past 21 years and having made so many fans and friends in the U.K., it's nice to finally get the invitation! This gig will come within the first month of a world tour that will last well into 2008 for us, but I can already predict this will be one of the highlights of the year for us..."
Other confirmed acts include Devil Driver, DragonForce, Evanescence, Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Korn, Linkin Park, Machine Head, Marilyn Manson, Machine Head, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Shadows Fall, and Slayer.
Visit the Download 2007 web site for more details.

I live in the Uk and I ain't going purely 'cause of the headliners. I hate Emo so My Chem are scum and I don't wanna see 'em. I don't like Linkin Park and saw Maiden a few months ago. Also, how Crue can play without headlining the main stage is confusing and infuriating. Plus I went in 2005 and KSE were there and I thought they were sh**

You know, the line up is pretty bad-ass. I'd also like to see it come to dvd like Gigantour did. And yes, Dream Theatre are a very talented band. I'm glad they get the opportunity to do this finally. Sounds like it's something they have been waiting for. Megadeth is on a rise again. Good to see them on there. Lamb of God, one of metals best. Iron Maiden, Shadowsfall, Motley Crue, I'm getting dizzy. I need to see this festival. Be intresting to see Machine head and Slayer together again. I know both camps have had words over the last couple of years. But all in all, I agree with what "ArchEnemy84" posted. This lineup is better than last years "Ozzfest". You here that "ozzfest", get your sh** together. Wish they could get Black Label Society on this thing. I'd rip an arm off to go then. LOL. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!!!

Okay, here it is. Dream Theater, like most real progressive rock/metal is something out of the mainstream. Every time I've seen them (3) they've played to sold out crowds, and all of their shows I've seen were the "An Evening With..." format (only them, 2 sets). There were a whole bunch of people standing outside trying to buy tickets from anyone that would sell even one. They are an enormously talented band, and like bands with true talent, the mainstream media/record companies cannot properly market them in the US. I've heard many bands called "great" but when I listen to them they sound like all the other crap MTV and radio pushes. DT has the talent to push the boundaries of music, and the fanbase to keep them playing, even when the promoters say they can't put them in a bigger venue because they're not "popular enough".
Now Playing:"C.B.F." from Nevermore

Ostracised is exactly right. That's why Dream Theater released a live DVD at Budokan and Petrucci's last G3 DVD was recorded at Tokyo. In Japan and even Europe a band like them can sell out huge venues but in the US they have to play smaller gigs to have sold out shows. Really sad, though. I think Dream Theater is the best prog band to some around since Pink Floyd. And that's a comparison I would make with no other band, past or pesent.

Linkin park can just f***ing die. I cant stand rap mix wit rock at all. well i hate all rap anyway. But it would be werid if they made rap mix wit metal. Metal is alittle too hard for me but it ok wit me. But manson. He f***ing rock. I hope manson just grab a broken bottle and cut linkin park apart, and rape the f*** out of linkin. and throw linkin park in the cword and have the people tear linkin like they did to the dog that manson threw.
