SikTh Posts "Golden Cufflinks" Video

Ahead of the June 2nd release of new album "The Future In Whose Eyes?," SikTh just dropped a new single and video "Golden Cufflinks."

When introducing the track, vocalist and lyricist Mikee W Goodman states, "The song is very melodic and is a very different type of song for SikTh fans to hear. Even though there are extremely aggressive moments on the new album. This song has a real epic and melodic feel to it."

Produced and directed by Goodman, the video acts as a commentary to and the causation of the ongoing sanitisation of many towns and cities, something many music fans around the world will be able to relate to.

"When I wrote the lyrics for 'Golden Cufflinks,' they were initially inspired by the amount of live music venues that are being closed and a feeling that rock culture is in decline," Goodman said. "The venue which sticks out to me the most is the famous London Astoria. Some of the best SikTh shows were in the LA2 and main Astoria. I went a lot as a fan as well. So when that was closed and knocked down to make way for Crossrail, it really was a sad and defining moment in rock history for me and many others."

He further adds, "I think places of such rich history and cultural importance should be protected and preserved. I see this happening across the country and world — so many other venues being shut down and how scenes and golden eras come and go. How we have to move along or do it seems." More...

Ahead of the release, the band premieres a new song titled "Vivid" today - listen in below. SikTh vocalist and lyricist Mikee W Goodman comments:

"Lyrically, it is inspired by traumatic dreaming. The verses talk from perspective of being in the actual dream, where the choruses are in despair from an awoken perspective. The song itself has a lot of elements of both tradition and new SikTh."

Sikth Announces 10th Anniversary Release

British progressive metal forefather SikTh just announced the re-release of acclaimed 2006 sophomore album, "Death of a Dead Day," on the 10th anniversary of its original release, September 30th via Peaceville.

"Death Of A Dead Day," arguably the band's most popular record, was recorded over a six week period in Miami in 2005, self-produced with mixing & engineering duties handled by Mike LaPlant (Skindred, Nonpoint, Soil, Dashboard Confessional).

The album's opening track "Bland Street Bloom" was a brutal progressive thrash song with vocalist Mikee W. Goodman penning lyrics inspired by the gentrification of the UK High Street. The song also spawned an animated video (directed by Tim Fox) which was featured regularly on MTV's Headbangers Ball.

The 10th anniversary edition will be released on CD with 3 exclusive bonus tracks - demo versions of "Flogging The Horses," "Part Of The Friction," and "Where Do We Fall"; plus heavyweight double LP with MP3 download code and digitally. Pre-orders will be available Friday, September 9th. More...

Sikth Crowd Funding New EP

Following on from the band's triumphant return to the metal scene in 2014, London’s Sikth has decided to answer the calls from fans and record new music in 2015.

“We’ve always maintained that more music would emerge one day and for the first time in years it feels like now is the time” says guitarist Dan Weller. “We had an amazing time travelling round the world last year. Having a chance to reconnect with our fans was very special for us”

The as-yet-untitled EP will be the follow-up to the 2006 album "Death Of A Dead Day" and will see the band enter the studio for the first time in 10 years.

Mikee W Goodman adds: "We did not realize our music had spread so far! I believe we have amongst the most passionate and energetic fans in the World. I am honoured to play to them. But what we have been asked most is about new music. My desire to make new Sikth music is as strong as it’s ever been. I can’t wait to get started!"

Recording starts this summer with a November release date penned, it will also be the first time Sikth will make a record without the assistance of a record label. A crowd funding campaign is now online, which you can take part in at this location. More...

Primal Rock Rebellion Posts Video

Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith and former SikTh front-man Mikee Goodman have joined forces for a brand new studio project called Primal Rock Rebellion. Adrian also plays bass throughout the album. All songs were co-written by Adrian and Mikee as individual pieces of work and recorded in creative windows of opportunity.

Adrian comments "It was interesting doing this album with Mikee not least because we have quite different influences. I was really pleased with the way it turned out. It has a really fresh feel to it." Mikee explains "This album takes you on a really deep and colourful journey, lyrically and musically. Adrian and I were both very open to experimenting with each others' musical styles and influences, which we feel created something new and exciting."

Session musicians who also contributed to this forthcoming album include Abi Fry of Bat For Lashes, plus original SikTh member Dan 'Lord' Foord on drums, amongst others. The resulting album is due for simultaneous worldwide release on Spinefarm Records on 27th February 2012. Check out the advance video for "I See Lights" below. More...

Whiplash Parts With Drummer, Announces Replacement

New Jersey based thrash metal veterans Whiplash have announced that they have parted ways with original drummer Tony Scaglione. Replacing him behind the drum stool will be Dan Foord, best known as the drummer from British extreme metal outfit Sikth.

Frontman Tony Portaro commented: "Tony and I were really looking forward to working together once again, but unfortunately there are personal issues in his life that arose which take priority. Fortunately, I was able to contact Dan Foord with the help of Ben Ward of Orange Goblin and Nathan Perrier of Alabaster Suns, Labrat and Capricorns. Dan is well-schooled and plays with exceptional technique. Dank and I are working together feverishly and are very much looking forward to performing live with him in the near future. We are expecting the crowds to share the adrenaline rush as we eagerly anticipate this year's live shows."
