Since their formation 30 years ago, the Portuguese band has taken the international heavy music scene by storm, followed by a monumental journey through an impressive, enthralling yet varying back catalogue of thirteen records, earning their place as one of the most distinctive dark metal artists of all time. Witherfall Posts New Music Video Online
Witherfall has released a video for "The Unyielding Grip Of Each Passing Day", from their new album, Curse Of Autumn. The clip, which can be seen below, showcases the stellar technical qualities of the individual members of the band - in particular drummer Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Necrophagist, Jordan Rudess, Kreator) and bassist Anthony Crawford (Chon, Alan Holdsworth, Virgil Donati).
Witherfall talk about the song and video: "Witherfall approaches writing music more like a classical composer would than a common modern metal band. Sometimes the ideas for a composition span more than the logical breadth of one song. A good example is the three song 'Curse Of Autumn' suite. This piece contains within it the songs: 'Curse Of Autumn', 'The Unyielding Grip Of Each Passing Day' and 'The Other Side Of Fear'. If you listen to those songs in sequence you will understand how they were written together. The video features an instrumental play through featuring the monster rhythm section of Marco Minnemann and Anthony Crawford, filmed by Bradley Cooper at Doghouse Studios." More...

Witherfall comments: "This is a nice a happy one… heavily inspired by an evening on tour in the Czech Republic. Quite possibly one of the most aggressive Witherfall songs and certainly a test of stamina for instrumentalists and voices. During the recording Our producer Jon Schaffer really put us to the test on getting these final takes. Both Witherfall and our team at Century Media felt this song would be the perfect way to introduce our latest offspring ‘Curse of Autumn’. Like any other Witherfall record this one is quite the storm. This is but the first gust of wind…" More...
Witherfall Posts New Music Video Online
US dark melodic metal act, Witherfall, recently started touring Europe as support of Sonata Arctica’s Acoustic Adventures tour. As a special release fitting this tour concept, Witherfall also recorded the widely acoustic Vintage EP, which will be released on March 22nd.
Today, they are releasing the third single from this EP, "A Tale That Wasn't Right", which was originally recorded by Helloween and released on the classic Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I album in 1987. You can watch the full video, produced by Don Adams, below.
Witherfall comments: “Right after the band landed in the ill-fated Panama City FL to begin recording A Prelude To Sorrow the idea of doing an 80s power ballad was drunkenly pondered by the band. On one of Steve Bolognese' IPA benders he came up with Helloween’s 'A Tale That Wasn’t Right'. Though the band recorded the song during the APS sessions, the video was shot during the band’s recent tour of Japan as support for Kamelot. With Japanese tour manager Mia Steinhausen guiding our way, we were amazed and honored to be so welcomed by the fans and label(s) in Japan that we decided to create a little visual tribute as a gift to everyone who helped us out. Seen in the beginning is even a cameo by none other than Masa-Ito! Domo-Arigato.” More...
Witherfall To Release New EP
In November 2018, US dark melodic metal act Witherfall released their second studio album, A Prelude To Sorrow. Never resting on its laurels, the group led by the creative duo comprised of vocalist Joseph Michael (Sanctuary) and Jake Dreyer (Iced Earth) now announces the Vintage EP, with the CD, LP, and digital release to be available during the upcoming acoustic tour with Sonata Arctica and released via Century Media Records on March 22nd.
Witherfall reveals: "During the sessions for A Prelude To Sorrow, two cover songs were recorded that showed a different side of Witherfall, originally intended to be bonus tracks. A dark and somber version of Tom Petty’s 'I Won’t Back Down' with vocals recorded with Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row) and an epic version of the Helloween classic 'A Tale That Wasn’t Right'. With the announcement of the Sonata Arctica Acoustic Adventures tour, it was decided to release these covers along with a few acoustic renditions of favorite Witherfall tracks. More...
Sonata Arctica Begins Recording New Album
It's been very silent in the camp of Finnish melodic metal titans Sonata Arctica recently. But this break hasn't been wasted - the band have entered the studio to kick off the recording process for their tenth studio album, due in 2019 through Nuclear Blast. But before their new record will see the light of day, Sonata Arctica are pleased to announce that they will embark on a special journey; their very first acoustic tour outside of Finland! The run will take them to London's Islington Assembly Hall on 19th March 2019, as part of a larger European run. Support will be provided by special guests, Los Angeles CA based metallers Witherfall. Further details can be found below.
Keyboardist Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg comments, "We've been locked up in the studio since the end of the summer working on our next studio album and decided we needed to take a break and go out and play some shows. In the summer of 2016 we did an acoustic summer tour in Finland which was a lot of fun for both us and our fans; in fact it was so great that we wanted to do it again and this time we're not settling for just Finland - but taking this show all around Europe for the first time ever. Now is a unique chance to hear our music in a completely different setting and we're sure these evenings will be something really special. Our set will also include some stuff we've never played live before, and who knows maybe even a new song from the upcoming album. See you at the shows!" More...

Witherfall Reveals New Album Details
US dark melodic metal masters Witherfall will release the highly anticipated follow-up to 2017’s "Nocturnes And Requiems" on November 2nd. Now, the band is proud to reveal the first song from "A Prelude To Sorrow."
“‘Ode To Despair” was the first composition that was completed for A Prelude To Sorrow so it only seems fitting to start off with this track. Its origin traces back to around 2016 when we were figuring out what to do with Sagan being sick and unable to perform. Fueled by red wine and only a glimmer of the sorrow that was to come ‘Ode’ took only one writing session to complete. The video was shot over the two month span that we were in the studio tracking A Prelude To Sorrow and watching the video brings you into the world we inhabited for what seems like an eternity... Special thanks to Don Adams and his masochistic tendencies and keen editor’s eye. Stay tuned for more...,'" comments the band.
On "A Prelude To Sorrow," main songwriters Joseph Michael (vocals, Sanctuary – live) and Jake Dreyer (Iced Earth) succeeded in perfectly combining the group’s technical proficiency with an appropriate eerie and somber atmosphere, manifesting also in Kristian Wåhlin’s majestic cover painting. For mix and mastering, Witherfall again worked with Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Sanctuary, Queensryche, Iced Earth) and “Ode To Despair” is just a mere glimpse at the depth and quality, the album holds within.
