Indianapolis Metal Fest II Cancelled
The second day of Indianapolis Metal Fest II has been cancelled. Here's a statement from show organizers:
"Due to issues entirely beyond our control, the Saturday show at 5100 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis has been cancelled. More details will be available on our website soon.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Make-up dates are being considered, and we are certain to file legal action against the parties responsible for this situation.
"Thanks to all who came out to the show on Friday night -- it was a GREAT crowd and the bands were amazing. Though we were unable to give you the show we wanted to give you due to problems and code violations within the venue, I think we all pulled together as best we could and made the Friday night show one hell of a good show.
"Special thanks to Morgan and Mercedes Lander from Kittie for being so exceptionally cool. Extra special thanks to Dino Cazares for invaluable advice and support during the show.
"A major announcement and statement will be made concerning this issue in a day or so."
Kataklysm Wins "Best Metal Album" Award In Quebec
"Prevail", the most recently acclaimed album by Canada's hyperblasters KATAKLYSM, has won for "Album Of The Year" in the "Metal/Hardcore" category at the Quebec Indie Music Awards (GAMIQ), an awards show that recognizes achievements by Quebec independent artists. The event is produced by the Quebec Independent Music Association which is also behind the Montreal International Music Initiative (MIMI). KATAKLYSM has released the following statement in regards to this rather flattering victory:
“KATAKLYSM would like to thank the board of judges and all the people that voted for ‘Prevail’. We were super psyched as it was just to be nominated but now that we’ve actually won we can’t really explain how great it feels. It’s definitely an honor, especially since we were up against some great artists. What a great way to start our North American tour in a few days! We can’t wait to get out there and show the rest of the world what Quebec already knows; KATAKLYSM will ‘Prevail’!"
Those that were nominated this year included:
TEARS FOR THE SKY - "Boredomville II"
MENACE RUINE - "Cult of Ruins"
KOSMOS - "Kosmos"
ION DISSONANCE - "Minus The Herd"

Arsis Bassist Noah Martin Departs
Arsis bassist Noah Martin has announced his departure from the band to pursue a college degree. Here's the entire message he posted online about the decision:
"Well, I don't know where to start. When you're in a band, you're nothing but at the will of the group you're in. At some point, after lots of nights laying awake in a bunk after a show in the middle of the country, you really start to wonder where your life is headed. I know there's a big difference between what's smart and what you really want to do. I really need to do the smart thing and finish college, though I'd also like to do what I love, and continue playing with Arsis. Unfortunately, I can't do them both. Thus, I've decided to leave the band.
"I've had such a phenomenal time with Jim [Malone], Ryan [Knight] , and Shawn [Priest], as we'll always be friends. I'll miss working with Gerardo, Loana, and bugging Mike at Nuclear Blast, who've made working with them the most enjoyable experience. Thanks to anyone and everyone we've ever worked with, including the bands with which we've toured. More...

Arsis Prepares For Thrash And Burn Tour
Determined to complete a tour with no car accidents, illnesses, or other distressing turmoil and ready to brave the road once again for the upcoming Thrash And Burn Tour, ARSIS bassist Noah Martin checks in to bring us up-to-date on tour preparations and the band’s newest addition:
“We’re really pumped about this tour. I don’t think there’s anything that will prevent us from finishing it. [Lead singer/guitarist] Jim [Malone]’s over his pneumonia. He’s been working out and running, and he feels better than ever. We even have new management that’s helping us move forward. They’re AMAZING. Hopefully our tour laminates will come with a lucky rabbit’s foot! [laughter] Right now we’re going over to [Anthrax singer] Dan Nelson’s place to rehearse for about three days before the Thrash And Burn tour starts. Our new drummer is Shawn Priest from Idaho. All the best drummers are coming outta nowhere from the Midwest! We screened him through his video on YouTube, and when we hooked up, he learned ‘We Are The Nightmare’ in a day and a half. We’re REALLY excited about this. We’re gonna have new drum parts in our songs off the new album. It’s gonna be WAY thrashier, more in-your-face. ‘Servants To The Night’ has been added to the set list because of Shawn. We’d like to keep him on as full-time, so we’ll see how he does on this tour. His flight to New York got delayed and he had to sleep in the airport, but he took it like a champ, so he’ll fit right in, putting up with a bunch of bullshit right from the start! [laughter] We’ll see if we can get him to drink boxed wine. First post on Blabbermouth gets a free beer at one of our shows!”
The video to the title track off of We Are The Nightmare recently received an outpouring of fan votes on MTV2's "Your Vote Counts" for inclusion on the next episode of Headbangers Ball. View the trailer to We Are The Nightmare’s bonus DVD here. An ARSIS live show photo gallery can be viewed at the Metal Fanatix website.
The Thrash And Burn North American tour features Darkest Hour (headliner), Parkway Drive, Misery Signals, Winds of Plague, Stick to Your Guns, Arsis, Abigail Williams, Arsonists Get All the Girls and After The Burial. The tour dates are as follows: More...

Arsis Video To Premiere This Weekend On HBB
The video for the title track off of the new ARSIS album, "We Are The Nightmare," will air on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball this Saturday, June 7th between 11 p.m. & 1 a.m. EASTERN & PACIFIC.
As previously reported, Arsis recently parted with drummer Darren Cesca and filled his vacancy with Alex Tomlin, a long time friend of the band.
ARSIS is currently on the "In Thrash We Trust" tour with Death Angel, God Forbid, and Light This City.
Arsis Parts with Drummer Darren Cesca
Lead guitarist/vocalist James Malone offers this band update:
“Although we had a great run over the past year and a half with drummer Darren Cesca [whose work is featured on the band’s latest album, 'We Are The Nightmare'], we have decided to stop working with him in ARSIS. The reasoning behind this decision is simply differences in personalities and an overall difference in direction. Darren is an amazing musician and we harbor no ill feelings towards him. We wish him all the best. We are most excited to announce that Alex Tomlin, a long time friend of ours and an outstanding drummer, will be replacing Darren. His first shows with us will be on the ‘In Thrash We Trust’ tour starting this Wednesday. Come out and support ARSIS and the new addition to our line-up!”
In related band news, the animated version of the ARSIS video for “We Are The Nightmare” will soon debut on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball. Stay tuned for the air dates.

Shadows Fall Brings A Variety of Metal To Jaxx
I was happy to hear just a week before this show that Shadows Fall's tour was hitting Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia on April 13, 2008. I had already resigned to missing the tour, which featured a great lineup with Droid, Arsis, The Showdown, and Kataklysm as support, because the Baltimore date was the day before Ministry's final stop in my area, and I'm just too old for back-to-back shows! The April 13 show worked out perfectly, as I really wanted to catch this tour. The show was also on a weekend and I had not been to Jaxx in quite a while, not that I needed so many reasons to go to this show. More...

Doc Coyle issues the following comments regarding the DVD, "Hey, it's Doc checking in from the 4th day of the 'In Thrash We Trust' tour with Death Angel, Soilent Green and Light This City. So far it's been a blast. The first two shows were with Testament, and they were excellent. We are sharing a bus with Death Angel and they are really some of the nicest guys I have ever met. There is a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm that they carry with them. Man, do they destroy live! I wasn't too familiar with them before the tour, but I can see why they are considered legends. Soilent Green and Light This City are kicking ass too. Great people and awesome bands." More...

"The tour with Shadows Fall, KATAKLYSM, ARSIS and THE SHOWDOWN was a great chance for us to meet a lot of new friends, between the bands and the new people that we were able to perform for. Also we were able to have the chance to hang out with many friends and fans from the past!!!
