Aborted Drops Off North American Tour
Goremasters Aborted have cancelled their North American tour plans. In regards to this cancellation, front-man Sven de Caluwé comments:
"Unfortunately rumors are true. We were forced to pull out of our North American tour with Hypocrisy, Krisiun, and Arsis. Due to reasons beyond control, Hypocrisy was not able to receive US visas in time and had to pull out.
"We only found out 3 days ago and were sharing transport with Hypocrisy. Being this close to the start of tour, finding an affordable method of transportation and a driver was a near impossible task, making it impossible for us to still make it. We are extremely disappointed as we were very excited to make it back out to the US for our fans and share the stage on this great line-up.
"We had flights booked, visas processed, and everything was good to go, so when the news hit, it came as a shock. This cost us several thousands of dollars out of our own pockets and continuing would cost us even more money, which we simply don't have. We apologize to the fans and are already looking for a replacement tour in the near future.
"Krisiun and Arsis are still doing the tour, and we urge you all to still go and support them. All the bands here are victims in this of bureaucratic procedures, so no need to point fingers. We are all as broken by this as anyone else."
Brazil's Krisiun will now headline this North American trek with Arsis as direct support (Autumns End and Starkill will also play select shows). The newly revamped itinerary can be found here.
Arsis Updates Tour Schedule
It was recently announced that Hypocrisy would have to miss the band's upcoming North American tour due to visa problems, but that Arsis, Krisiun, Autumns End, and Starkill would be continuing with the trek. Arsis has now checked in with the following update about the tour schedule:
"IMPORTANT: Updated tour schedule below. We need all the support we can get on this one, PLEASE check the list below for your city and come out to support Arsis and Krisiun and keep the metal touring circuit alive! We really appreciate it and can't wait to unleash the heaviest set we've ever played on you all!
"Promoters in Oakland, CA and Stafford, CT have cancelled. Trenton, NJ has been added. Some other shows have changed venues." More...
Hypocrisy To Sit Out North American Tour
Hypocrisy has been forced to sit out the upcoming North American tour this May due to reasons beyond the band's control. Hypocrisy comments:
"The band members had received their visa approvals and everything was going as scheduled, until the embassy let them know that the earliest they could pick up their visas, get them stamped and so on, wasn't until late June at the earliest. A regular procedure that would normally take just a few days to sort, takes much longer at the moment due to that current workload Homeland Security is experiencing."
“As we were getting ready to go get our visas stamped and ready for the tour we were informed that the earliest we could go initially was sometime in July,” explains guitarist/vocalist Peter Tägtgren. “We then immediately continued to call them, got the label to help with some letters, and put our lawyer to work etc. The best that got us was an appointment in late June. This is a HUGE blow to us, to our fans and everyone who has supported Hypocrisy in North America. Sometimes there are battles you can’t win, and this is one of them. We will be back, I can promise that!”
The trek was also initially set to feature Brazilian brothers in death Krisiun, Belgian gore-grinders Aborted, and technical-melodic-death-masters Arsis, as well as Autumn's End and Starkill on select shows. The tour will continue as previously scheduled at this time minus Hypocrisy and Aborted. More...

Arsis Announces New Album "Unwelcome"
Virginia's technical death metal act Arsis announced that the band's new LP will be entitled "Unwelcome." The follow up to the highly acclaimed "Starve for the Devil" will be released on April 30, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was tracked at Audiohammer Studios in FL with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder/Whitechapel/Devildriver/Deicide/Six Feet Under).
Lead guitarist/vocalist James Malone commented: "At this point Arsis has more than a few releases in our catalogue and we are about to have one more, Unwelcome. Of all the albums we have done, Unwelcome is an album that I wanted to define the band's sound. We were all focused for the writing and recording and the end product reflects this. Get ready for Unwelcome to see the light of day on April 30th through Nuclear Blast USA and for Arisis to be destroying the new material live throughout May with Hypocrisy, Kridiun, and Aborted!!!." See tour dates over here.
Bassist Noah Martin added: "We're excited to be back out on the road after spending down-time rebuilding the band and recording both Unwelcome and Leper's Caress. Down to the artwork, Unwelcome is by far the most raw and brutal album Arsis has released with Nuclear Blast. Upon its release, we look forward to a very busy 2013 touring season, seeing all our old friends and making new ones. If Canadian fans want to bring some homemade poutine to a show, I would be forever indebted to you." More...

Arsis Announces New Guitarist
Virginia based melodic tech-death metal masters Arsis are pleased to officially announce Brandon Ellis as their new guitarist. Brandon has toured with the band in the past but will finally make his recording debut with Arsis’ upcoming full-length release. Brandon replaces guitarist Nick Cordle who was recently tapped to replace Christopher Amott in Sweden's Arch Enemy.
“I am super happy to say that Brandon Ellis has recently become the new lead guitarist for Arsis,” commented vocalist/guitarist Jim Malone. “Not only is he one of the best musicians that I have been able to work with, but he shares my passion for all things that are 80's metal, including ridiculously tacky paint jobs on guitars. I am beyond excited about writing new material with Brandon. Until then, listen for his shredilicious leads on the upcoming Arsis full length. Come check him out live with Arsis this December!”
"Initially when Nick joined Arch Enemy, we all thought we could make it work with him having the time for both bands,” continued bassist Noah Martin. “Things unfortunately overlapped and we weren't able to work on the new album with him. We appreciate everything he's done for Arsis. We'll miss our friend greatly and do wish him all the best. Both Nick and Ryan Knight (The Black Dahlia Murder), contributed ridiculous leads for the album. More...
Arsis Posts "Carve My Cross" Rough Drums Demo
Virginia based technical death metal act Arsis posted up a studio video of new drummer Shawn Priest recording drums for the new song "Carve My Cross." The song will appear on the follow up to the 2010 release "Starve for the Devil," but is not expected until late 2012 or early 2013.

Arsis Reveals New Drummer
The Virginia melodic death metal veterans in Arsis have announced Shawn Priest as the full-time replacement for recently departed drummer, Mike VanDyne. Priest, who has toured with Arsis in the past, will be behind the kit for the band’s upcoming fifth studio album.
Commented Priest, “After several major tours with Arsis since 2008, I am more than happy to take the position of full-time drummer. These guys have become some of my best friends and based on the new material we've been putting together, I think the new record will be one of the best and most extreme Arsis releases to date. Get stoked people.”
“I am beyond thrilled with the pre-production for the new album and the addition of Shawn Priest on drums,” said guitarist/vocalist, James Malone. “Shawn has done many tours for Arsis and felt we it was time to give him the respect he deserves and bring him on as the full-time drummer. Shawn's input into the new songs has made them more intense than I could have ever imagined.”
“We weren't looking for a drummer who robotically plays a thousand miles an hour,” added bassist, Noah Martin. “Anyone who's seen us with Shawn knows he's capable of playing pretty much anything, but with tremendous feel. We've put him through hell, hiring him to fill in on multiple tours over the years, and we're glad we can welcome him to the fold. More...
Arsis Splits With Drummer
Mike Van Dyne, drummer and founding member of Virginia-based melodic tech-death metal act Arsis, has announced his departure from the group. He says in a statement, "After five label releases and hundreds of shows in 19 countries, it's time to move forward and pursue my career full-time.
"The last fully-completed Arsis song I contributed to was 'Since The Shadows' (released online last year), and it's one of my favorites. Through the years, I've accomplished everything in music I wanted to do. Not many people can say that, and I consider myself fortunate for having so many great experiences."
Van Dyne performed on Arsis' debut album, "A Celebration Of Guilt," as well as "A Diamond For Disease" and "United In Regret" (Willowtip Records), "As Regret Becomes Guilt: The Demos Of Arsis" (Negative Existence Records), "Starve For The Devil" (Nuclear Blast Records), and "Since The Shadows" (2011 online release). From 2009 to 2011, Van Dyne toured Europe and North America extensively with the band, and performed on all of Arsis' early tours from 2003-2007. Van Dyne has also recorded and performed notable live shows with the New York-based hardcore band Crimson Mask.
Arsis Streaming New Pre-Production Song
Virginia based technical death metal act Arsis is streaming a pre-production demo of the new song "Choking on Sand" exclusively through Guitar World at this location (also heard below). The follow up to the 2010 release "Starve for the Devil" is not expected until late 2012 or early 2013 and a producer has not yet been assigned.
Guitarist/vocalist James Malone commented on writing new material: "Sometimes life forces us to make changes and mine certainly has. As a result, I have found myself in a much better place than I have been in years and I am so excited to be working on music again. I can honestly say that I am more inspired than I have been in years."
Malone added: "I truly feel the new music is some of the best material we have ever written,” Malone further stated. “I know every band always says that when they are working on new music, but I do truly mean it."
Recently, guitarist Nick Cordle joined Arch Enemy as Christopher Amott's replacement. Malone commented: "I could not be happier that Nick [Cordle] landed the gig with Arch Enemy. He is by far the best musician I have ever collaborated with."

Arsis Announces Touring Musicians
As previously announced, Virginia's Arsis will be touring as part of the “Frets of Fury Tour” this October without guitarist/vocalist Jim Malone. The band has now announced the musicians filling in for Jim in his absence.
"Mike Parks will be performing vocals for the tour in October,” commented the band. “He's the obvious choice as he has helped us out in the past when Malone lost his voice, and was actually the singer of the band that became Arsis. He is a long-time friend and an extremely strong singer, and we're happy to have him with us."
The band continued, "We'd also like to introduce Brandon Ellis. This is something incredibly special. He is a young guy who plays with the kind of maturity that has become rare in the modern metal and shred scene. His presence will take the guitar chops in Arsis to a new high. Talk is cheap, so see for yourself below.
"WE ARE NOT CANCELLING. ‘The Frets of Fury’ tour was built specifically around the participation of Arsis and it would be dishonorable to back out and hang everybody out to dry. So we are bringing a brutal set of new music (some of which we've already shared online) and some old ones, which have never been played live despite a constant clamor for them. The lineup is AWESOME as all at the shows will soon discover."
Firewind Posts Tour Teaser Trailer
Firewind has announced a European tour with Wolf in September and a subsequent North American tour in October with Arsis, Nightrage, and White Wizzard. A teaser trailer for the band's upcoming tour dates has now been posted online and can be viewed below.

Arsis Posts New Demo Track Online
American extreme metal act Arsis has posted a new demo track online titled "Since The Shadows." The band commented on the track by saying;
"We are indeed writing a new Arsis album and we want to offer everybody a glimpse into the music that we’ve been building for the last few months. This is a demo of a new one called ‘Since the Shadows‘ and it’s from the first batch of songs for the album. It’s still early but a musical direction has emerged from the work so far and we think it speaks for itself without any grand pronouncements, so enjoy it and we will see you on the Firewind tour this fall!"
