Arsis Sign w/ Agonia Records

Arsis have officially signed a contract with Agonia Records for territories outside of North, South and Central America. The group's music will still be released through Nuclear Blast Records in those areas. Tracking sessions for the Arsis' sixth album commenced with producer Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, DevilDriver) late last year and the band are plotting a 2018 release for it.

Speaking on the band’s new label arrangement, mainman James Malone comments:

“We are really excited to have found a label partner outside of the Americas. Agonia works with some great bands and we are pleased to be working with them moving forward. We look forward to reaching some new ground with a new record in 2018. Stay tuned for details.”

Arsis Premieres A Medley Of New Songs

Arsis premieres a medley of new songs without vocals via a playthrough video below. States Malone on the new album:

"Since the conclusion of the touring cycle for Unwelcome, myself and the members of Arsis have been busy with other projects, but I'm happy to announce that a new album is almost finished! After returning home from a tour with Necromancing The Stone last March, I began writing for the next Arsis release and soon found myself completely consumed in the process. I don't want to make an incredibly bold statement and say something to the effect of 'it's our best effort since (insert the highest regarded album title here)' but I can say that I have not been this focused on a project since working on A Diamond for Disease. I feel that this focus is reflected in the music and I look forward to the album's completion."

Check out now the medley below.

Sepultura Plays 30-Year Anniversary Show in Austin

Just a few weeks ago I watched Cavalera Conspiracy perform Sepultura songs at the Texas Independence Festival on the very same stage at Empire Control Room & Garage. At that show I heard the former voice (Max) and beat maker (Igor) of Sepultura. With the band bearing the namesake Sepultura, I witnessed original bassist Paulo Jr. and longtime guitarist Andreas Kisser. Most of all I would be comparing vocalists. I saw Max Cavalera front the band during their vaunted “Chaos A.D.” album twenty-one years ago, so I was curious to hear Derrick Green’s fill in this position. More...

He goes on to say, “We are coming back to America and Canada with full force and with a hunger to destroy everything! Can't wait to perform the songs from the new album on stage! See you all on the road!”

Arsis Announces "A Decade Of Guilt" Tour

Metalsucks is presenting the "A Decade of Guilt" North American tour featuring Arsis, Allegaeon, and Exmortus. James Malone from Arsis comments:

"10 years ago I was a full time college student that was given an opportunity. The musical project that I had been working on 'for fun' on breaks from school was asked to record a full length album for a small independent record label.

"I had no idea at the time what the response would be to the album, or if there would be any response at all. Almost as soon as the album was released, much to my surprise, we were getting attention from around the world and my life was forever changed.

"That album was called A Celebration of Guilt and myself and everyone in Arsis, would like to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary by playing the album...in it's entirety...on tour. Many of songs have not been played live in years, if ever. Here's to a decade of guilt and METAL!!!" More...

Wintersun Shines In Sold Out Venue In Cambridge

The last place I ever thought I would see a show was in the middle of the campus of the “elite of society” – Harvard University. Though not confirmed, I had heard that this particular show was the first metal event at the newly opened Sinclair club, which was directly in the heart of the college. I had made the 114 mile trek to the area countless times, however, I don’t recall the traffic being this annoying. When I went to see Wintersun and Eluveitie at Royale in downtown Boston, the trip was nuisance free. But, it was Friday night, and stupidity on the road was nothing new. The area was wrought with college kids, yuppie preps and artsy types, so it was a pleasure to walk around in my Sodom – “Epitome of Torture” shirt, its double meaning was painfully clear. The venue proved to be a rather loose, without any pushy asshole bouncers and the club itself had decent sound. If you have been to the upstairs part of The Palladium in Worcester, imagine it double the size with a much better stage (raised to where you can see), much better lighting and double the upstairs space where you can view the band from just above the floor crowd from all sides/angles. Aborted Drops Off North American Tour

Goremasters Aborted have cancelled their North American tour plans. In regards to this cancellation, front-man Sven de Caluwé comments:

"Unfortunately rumors are true. We were forced to pull out of our North American tour with Hypocrisy, Krisiun, and Arsis. Due to reasons beyond control, Hypocrisy was not able to receive US visas in time and had to pull out.

"We only found out 3 days ago and were sharing transport with Hypocrisy. Being this close to the start of tour, finding an affordable method of transportation and a driver was a near impossible task, making it impossible for us to still make it. We are extremely disappointed as we were very excited to make it back out to the US for our fans and share the stage on this great line-up.

"We had flights booked, visas processed, and everything was good to go, so when the news hit, it came as a shock. This cost us several thousands of dollars out of our own pockets and continuing would cost us even more money, which we simply don't have. We apologize to the fans and are already looking for a replacement tour in the near future.

"Krisiun and Arsis are still doing the tour, and we urge you all to still go and support them. All the bands here are victims in this of bureaucratic procedures, so no need to point fingers. We are all as broken by this as anyone else."

Brazil's Krisiun will now headline this North American trek with Arsis as direct support (Autumns End and Starkill will also play select shows). The newly revamped itinerary can be found here.

Hypocrisy To Sit Out North American Tour

Hypocrisy has been forced to sit out the upcoming North American tour this May due to reasons beyond the band's control. Hypocrisy comments:

"The band members had received their visa approvals and everything was going as scheduled, until the embassy let them know that the earliest they could pick up their visas, get them stamped and so on, wasn't until late June at the earliest. A regular procedure that would normally take just a few days to sort, takes much longer at the moment due to that current workload Homeland Security is experiencing."

“As we were getting ready to go get our visas stamped and ready for the tour we were informed that the earliest we could go initially was sometime in July,” explains guitarist/vocalist Peter Tägtgren. “We then immediately continued to call them, got the label to help with some letters, and put our lawyer to work etc. The best that got us was an appointment in late June. This is a HUGE blow to us, to our fans and everyone who has supported Hypocrisy in North America. Sometimes there are battles you can’t win, and this is one of them. We will be back, I can promise that!”

The trek was also initially set to feature Brazilian brothers in death Krisiun, Belgian gore-grinders Aborted, and technical-melodic-death-masters Arsis, as well as Autumn's End and Starkill on select shows. The tour will continue as previously scheduled at this time minus Hypocrisy and Aborted. More...
