There are no bands which I would consider thrash on this tour, and IMO only Arsis is worth listening too.

There's thrash. They may not be straight forward thrash metal bands like Exodus or Testament but Darkest Hour and Light This City both thrash. But then again thats not what this tour is going for, I know a lot of old timers got their hopes up when they saw a tour with the word "thrash" in the title.

nah, neither darkest hour or light this city are thrash. if its not straight ahead thrash then it probably isnt thrash. take iced earth for example, they have a lot of thrash elements, particularly early iced earth, yet they've always been a power metal band.

vader and arsis are the only ones i'd want to see. i wanted to see cryptopsy about five years ago but not so much anymore.

now playing: ihsahn - astera ton proinon

A faggy a$$ core kid. Right. I made an eight our trip to see Iced Earth and Testament because I'm a core kid. Darkest Hour has only one cd that could be potentially called metalcore and Light This City is far from core. Then again, any American band that plays some sort of MDM must be core right?

I prefer the word thrash stay as an adjective to describe thrash metal, rather than loose it's meaning and become a generic adjective for metal. The below lyrics are by the band Violator and probably explain better -

"Attack!
Thrashers return to this city
To bring back all the insanity
That has been lost through the time
But now is time to remember

Raise your fist and destroy your neck
Against the stage
A feeling inside drives you
f***in' mad
Dive in the crowd and slam
All around
Adrenalin explodes. Take your life back
In the pit

We Thrash to Live
Addicted to Mosh
We Bang 'til Death
With no remorse
If mania boils in your blood
Then you know it's for real!

Thrash!
Tight pants, denims with patches
Our way, the underground!
We are in league, and we won't admit
Anyone ??? it as a trend

No breakdowns and no pretensions.
All we want is the Thrashbanger beat
Unstoppable head banging We're
Obsessed by old school spirit

Addicted to Mosh!"

With the exception of "tight jeans, denims with patches" and "thrashbanger beat" those lyrics can describe almost any metaller or metal show. The only exception would be "love metal" or the extreme "necro black metal" shows if you are the kind who took the Black metal "bible" way too seriouse.

So black, doom, funeral doom, ambient/drone, goth and you have to remove some specifics?

My point was thrash is something distinct, special and sacred. I hate to see the term used in such a generic way as to lose (not loose as I said above haha) it's meaning.

Girls + Leather Jackets = awesome, I can't say that enough. Since it's freezing down here in New Zealand in a sh**ty student flat with no heating, I go for the jacket with hoody underneath combo - that and a sleeping bag if it gets to chilly haha.

hey there is nothing wrong and this is coming from a guy that used to hate deathcore and metalcore with breakdowns if its done right i feel year of desolation and through the eyes of the dead and beneath the massacre does a pretty good job of mixing that into their music. But emo/screamo bands with a singer that looks the guy from little vampires all grown up and another scenekid band that the vocalist does her shiitty angela gassow impersonation try some good female fronted dm like estuary or chicago's All Is Lost and then might actually have something to say but now your just another scenecore fanboy and iced earth is way overated anyways.

How, by chance, are those bands at all Emo, Screamo, or Scene?

Last time I checked Laura doesn't sound like Angela but more like Lindberg.

Scenecore, you mean sh** like Suicide Silence and Job For a Cowboy? Bands that disgrace metal because of their fans? Yup, count me in on those man.

Oh wait, I'd rather listen to good music like Noumena, Persuader, and Dissection

Either way the MDM style has been kicking the dead corpse of SotS for far too long, copying Lindberg's voice is just another sign of that.

Well what I mean Kali is that down here we have a long holiday through late Nov- early Feb for the university and school year, so you get to enjoy summer and Christmas (or the solstice if you prefer) at the same time. Ha, guess I've just never tried the stuff, no particular reason. People tell me that it's a bit addictive so I guess that I've tried to avoid getting hooked to save some cash.
