Arch Enemy Conquers Philadelphia

For the first time in almost two years, Arch Enemy made their way to the United States to cause devastation using blistering melodic death metal. Touring in support of “The Root Of All Evil,” which included re-recorded Arch Enemy songs from the band’s first three albums, the band made their presence known at the Theatre Of Living Arts in Philadelphia on January 21st. The “Tyrants of Evil” tour was a monstrous package that not only included Arch Enemy, but up-and-comers Mutiny Within, technical death metal shredders Arsis and legendary thrashers Exodus. The show was strong from start to finish, and the audience that packed into the intimate venue ranged from respectful to outright ruthless at times. More...

Arsis Posts New Song, "Forced To Rock," Online

Virginia tech melodic death metal band ARSIS has just uploaded another brand new song to their MySpace profile. The song, "Forced To Rock," comes off the bands new album, entitled "Starve For The Devil," which is due on February 5, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Mainman James Malone comments, "'How can I better the world?' This is the question that I asked myself when writing 'Forced to rock.' I eventually came to the conclusion that the death metal world needed an anthem. Sure, it may not be the cure for cancer, but it is fun and fun is something that I feel is lacking in a lot of the music out there today. It's music, it's not saving lives; there is no reason to be serious 100% of the time. Tongue in cheek or foot in mouth; I am probably not the proper authority to comment on the matter."

Arsis Shooting New Music Video

Virginia based technical melodic death metallers Arsis have announced the shooting of the first video for their upcoming album "Starve For The Devil."

Commented the band:

"This month we willing be filming a video for 'Forced To Rock.' The video will be produced and directed by metal video impresarios My Good Eye productions (you may be familiar with their work with such bands as The Red Chord, Goatwhore, The Black Dahlia Murder etc.). The filming will take place in New York; the video for the last album was shot in West Virginia and I really don't feel like being chased by dogs or falling through any floors this time. Our goal with this video and new album is to remind metal fans (and possibly ourselves) why we have metal and music in general is our lives. While we wanted to make a serious artistic statement we also just wanted to have fun. In the name of Satan, we are forced to rock!"

Arsis Issues Recording Update

James Malone, guitarist/vocalist for Virginia’s melodic/technical death metal band Arsis shares this update from Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts on their fourth studio album, "Starve For The Devil:"

"Everything I have been working towards over the past year has become a reality; we are making the Arsis album that I have always wanted to make. We starting tracking drums yesterday and everything sounds amazing. Mike Van Dyne's playing just fits the songs so well, and it is great to be recording with one of my best friends again. I can honestly say that I have not been this happy in a long time. If the past few days are any indication of how the rest of the recording is going to go, then I feel certain that this will be our best work yet."

"Starve For The Devil" is being recorded with producer Zeuss (Municipal Waste, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed). Artist Mark Riddick will be providing his artwork for the upcoming release. Performing on the album will be: James Malone – Guitars/Vocals; Mike Van Dyne – Drums; Nick Cordle – Guitars; Bassist - Nathaniel Carter.

Original Arsis Drummer Returns To The Band

Michael VanDyne, one of founding members of metal group Arsis, has revealed that he has rejoined the band on a full time basis. In a statement regarding the reunion, he said:

"I’m looking forward to working with my friend Jim again, as well as the great people at Nuclear Blast. Judging by the new material that [guitarist/singer] Jim [Malone] and [guitarist] Nick [Cordle] have been working on, I think we may be sitting on some of the most memorable and thrashy Arsis material written to date. Due to obligations with my full-time career, session drummers will most likely be utilized for big tours that Jim wishes to do in the future… However, regional shows and occasional mini-tours or festival gigs either here in North America or overseas are a definite possibility (and something I’d be totally psyched to do) if our collective schedules allow it. Good times."

Arsis Guitarist Explains Tour Cancellations

Arsis guitarist Jim Malone has checked with a message for their fans regarding why the band has had to drop off their scheduled tours with Carcass and The Faceless. His message reads as follows:

"I owe more than a few people an apology at this time.

"Over the past few months Arsis has had to drop off two tours and the fault lies on my shoulders. Those who know me know that moderation is a concept that I am not familiar with. Ever since my late teens, I have moved from one self-destructive behavior to another and it has finally taken its toll on my body and mind. I seem to take everything I do to an unhealthy extreme. This leads us to the reason for dropping off tours with both The Faceless and Carcass.

"Without going into too many details, let’s just say that there is no healthy way to lose 100 pounds in 4 months, as I did late last year. To say that I have been dealing with some issues would be an understatement. These issues have not only affected the basic functions of my body, but also my mood and ability to make rational decisions. Fortunately, I have many supportive people in my life and I have been taking strides to get things back under control. I have been making my best effort as of late and I feel stronger everyday. I think I will come out this a wiser person and be able to run my life better than ever.

"Look for Arsis to be back on the road soon with a possible headliner to make up for lost time. My apologies to our booking agent, our record label, our fans, and anyone who has been effected by my poor decisions."

Arsis Drops Off Carcass Tour

Arsis has announced that they will not be taking part in Carcass's tour of North America which kicks off next week. Suicide Silence, Samael and Psycroptic will still be on board however. A message from Arsis drummer Dave Kinkade states:

"This is due to situations in Arsis that are out of my hands. I do not feel that it is my place to go into specific reasons leading up to this decision but being the drummer of Arsis, it is in my best interest to NOT keep the fans in the dark. There are major personal and communication issues in this band that need be resolved before anything can continue as Arsis. I will leave it at that. Again, my apologies to the fans and the other bands on the bill.

"Due to the situation, I am available for session/ possible long-term drum work nationally and internationally. Those interested can contact me at: Anti_cosmic_drummer@yahoo.com

"On a positive note, the new Borknagar album is nearing the final completion stages. Having spoken with Øystein today, I am told that vocals and synths are well under way and we will all be meeting in Oslo at the end of April for the final mixing and mastering. So far, drums and guitars are finished and let me be the first to say that this album is going to be immense. By far the most brilliant material that Borknagar has ever written, this work is going to have all the “meat n’ potatoes” musically and production wise. I trust that all the fans will enjoy this effort."

Carcass Announces U.S. Tour Dates

Reunited U.K. melo-death/gore-grind legends, CARCASS, will return to the United States this March for the “Exhumed to Consume II” tour. The follow up to last years highly successful “Exhume to Consume” tour will feature SUICIDE SILENCE, SAMAEL, ARSIS and PSYCROPTIC plus a few special guests on select dates. Vocalist/bassist and all around optimistic person Jeff Walker commented:

"Well, I'm pleased to announce that CARCASS is gonna settle it's unresolved scores in the U.S.! There was some slight whimpers of discontent that we didn't hit some cities such as Chicago and Denver last time round - places that were always hot spots of enthusiasm for us. So we're coming back in March to finish off our unsettled business! We seemed to have had a profound influence on your economy and gas prices have gotten cheaper haha! That's doesn't mean we’re not gonna come through and provide some value for your buck with some old (and new) school friends and comrades such as SUFFOCATION, SAMAEL, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EXODUS, SUICIDE SILENCE etc. - check out locally as for who is on the bill where! And hey, I couldn't think of anywhere better to be on my 40th birthday than the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We promise this will be the last time we darken your shores (I said that with my fingers crossed behind my back)!"
