Background

This melodic death metal band, formed by former Carcass’ guitarist, Michael Amott, started out with Johan Liiva on vocals, but then replaced him with Angela Gossow. Though a female replaced him, the band still has the same death metal vocal style. Gossow, who has only been with the band on the past two albums, has been able to create a strong presence in the band.

Arch Enemy Issues Road Report And Live Video Clip

Arch Enemy vocalist Angela Gossow has posted a live video clip, which can be viewed below, and the following tour report from Venezuela:

"Venezuela insanity!

"Getting into Caracas was a smooth ride. We got picked up by the promoters contact at the airport and never had to pass immigration.. Yeah, that’s how things are done there. ha-ha. With or without the pig flu?! Haha.. Looks brutal!

"Caracas is the most dangerous city in the whole of South America. We heard a lot of sinister stories and saw a bunch of frightening areas and people. The long ride to Maracay most certainly didn’t feel safe - but that was actually down to insane mountain roads, reckless driving and zero seat belt coverage for the entire trip. Life is cheap in Venezuela. More...

Arch Enemy Mexican Show Postponed

Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott commented on Latin America tour and postponed Mexico show at Circo Volador on May 8th:

"We’ve had an amazing run of show down here in South America. We’ve played Venezuela and Colombia for the first time with Arch Enemy and it’s been really killer playing for the fans there, these people live and breathe Metal... It’s inspiring.

"Also returning to Brazil and Argentina again has been great, the fans in this part of the world are so intense, they’re almost louder than the PA…it’s so much fun!

"Tonight we play Santiago, Chile - I'm sure it'll be a blast, we always have a good time playing here. And as things have turned out, it will unfortunately be the last show on this Latin American tour...

"Sadly, we've had to cut the tour short, the May 8 Mexico D.F show has been postponed due to the flu chaos and the restrictions that have been put on shows in Mexico D.F over the next days/weeks. We are obviously not happy about this – but it is out of our hands. We are looking at quickly re-scheduling the show and return to Mexico in August. The 2,500 tickets for the sold-out Mexico D.F show are valid for the new date - so hold on to them."

Carcass Announces U.S. Tour Dates

Reunited U.K. melo-death/gore-grind legends, CARCASS, will return to the United States this March for the “Exhumed to Consume II” tour. The follow up to last years highly successful “Exhume to Consume” tour will feature SUICIDE SILENCE, SAMAEL, ARSIS and PSYCROPTIC plus a few special guests on select dates. Vocalist/bassist and all around optimistic person Jeff Walker commented:

"Well, I'm pleased to announce that CARCASS is gonna settle it's unresolved scores in the U.S.! There was some slight whimpers of discontent that we didn't hit some cities such as Chicago and Denver last time round - places that were always hot spots of enthusiasm for us. So we're coming back in March to finish off our unsettled business! We seemed to have had a profound influence on your economy and gas prices have gotten cheaper haha! That's doesn't mean we’re not gonna come through and provide some value for your buck with some old (and new) school friends and comrades such as SUFFOCATION, SAMAEL, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EXODUS, SUICIDE SILENCE etc. - check out locally as for who is on the bill where! And hey, I couldn't think of anywhere better to be on my 40th birthday than the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We promise this will be the last time we darken your shores (I said that with my fingers crossed behind my back)!"

Arch Enemy Recaps December Tyranny Tour

Arch Enemy vocalist, Angela Gossow, has posted this message:

"We had a blast, thanx to our wonderful German friends & fans and touring with a killer line-up, really cool people and the best crew in the whole world! Rene from Mercenary actually took the time to write a review of the tour for my forum on www.AngelaGossow.Com - go and check it out!

"They also got an in depth tour report on the Mercenary Myspace Page, plus their kick-butt version of BURNING ANGEL in their player. Listen and bang your head!

"Sister Sin are young, tight and simply awesome and their take on hardrocking metal always put a smile on my face and made me tap my feet. Watch out for these guys and gal - they will get to you! And thanx for getting our gear from and back to Sweden again! We love you!!!

"Leaves Eyes - I got to meet Alex and Liv, both very sweet people. Not sure if they felt 'at home' as they were def the odd band out and my death metal soul doesnt really resonate with their quiet tunes. I hope they enjoyed it nevertheless- I loved the diversity of this tour line-up and the different dynamics each band brought to the table.

"Special thanx go out to Dirk Lehberger for making sense of the daily chaos, Clem Bennett for the best sound ever, Eddie for multitasking as drum tech and monitor tech (and being brilliant and never out of breath despite the heavy work load), Merch Chris for selling out our last stock and Swiss Samael Chris for a light show that left people in awe and hopefully cross eyed for the rest of the night! You all were wonderful and made IT happen. We would be lost without you and could hardly tie our shoe laces on our own I am afraid..

"And a big THANK YOU to DORO for inviting us to her 25 year anniversary show! We had a short, but raging set and I hope she enjoyed her massive bash.. I think the stress backstage would have killed me..

"It was also fun to meet my old pal Pete (from Asmodina and Mistress) again who played in Pratteln and Bad Arolsen with his new band All We Hate!

"I hope you all have relaxing holidays and a great 2009!!!"

Arch Enemy Gears Up For "December Tyranny" Dates

Arch Enemy's Michael Amott has commented on the band's upcoming "December Tyranny" tour dates:

"We’ve been busy rehearsing this last week, and I have to say after brushing off some inevitable cobwebs (we haven’t played since August) we are back on track and sounding pretty f***ing crushing, if I may say so myself! :-P

"I’m aching to get out there and play these shows, and I know the whole band is really looking forward to this short European run leading up to the holidays! On a side note, I just heard that a couple of the Scorpions guys got added as special guests to the DORO Anniversary show, how awesome is that? That show is shaping up to be a really cool experience, with friends like Warrel Dane (Nevermore) and Bobby Blitz (Overkill) in the house too…

"So with that and the headline shows we are doing with Leave’s Eyes, Mercenary and Sister Sin, this is a perfect way to end a great year for me and Arch Enemy! See you there..."
