Fatality Cancels Upcoming Shows

Canadian thrash band Fatality has issued the following statement about canceling several upcoming live shows:

"We regret to announce that we will be cancelling the bulk of our 'Metal Up Your Hash' tour due to issues with the booking agent we have been working with and lack of promoter communication. We cannot confidently hit the road without knowing dates are secure or properly promoted.

"We WILL still be playing in Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, Burlington VT and Belleville as planned.

"Although it is a shame that we will not be able to fulfill all the dates on the tour, we are looking forward to returning to these great cities and towns in Canada and the States much sooner than later.

"You can also catch us crushing it on the road with the Summer Slaughter Canada Club Tour August 14-20. See you on the road (eventually)." More...

Fatality Gearing Up For Canadian Tour

In preparation for an east coast Canadian tour beginning next week, Toronto thrash act Fatality rings the heat back into winter with a fourth and final video in the hysterical “Wintour Video Series." Check it out below.

The 8 date tour kicks off in Montreal at Cafe Chaos on January 31st and ends in Halifax at Gus' pub on Saturday, February 8th. This will be the band's first tour back to Atlantic Canada since the release of "Psychonaut."

Vocalist/guitar player Spencer LeVon comments: "What is it that I love about the East Coast of Canada? There seems to be some sort of pungent energy that clings to the air like that of a great high school party where everyone got laid. It’s that work hard, play harder, get drunk and eat lobster, call in sick from work just to air guitar side of the country that I have grown to love and respect. Fatality is proud to announce the 'Dead of WinTour' spanning from Montreal to Halifax between January 31 and February 8 to help bring a little bit of heat back into the heart of a frozen continent.”

Fatality Posts "Towards DisasTour" Blog

Toronto’s thrash party monsters Fatality recently wrapped up their two-month North American “Towards Disastour” in support of latest album, "Psychonaut."

Vocalist Spencer Le Von has again checked in with Dead Rhetoric.com about the band's days in Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC and why he's “A lover not a fighter, also not a lover." Excerpts are available below, or you can read the full tour blog at this location.

How come there are so many gorgeous people living in big cities? Do all of the attractive people in each part of the country just decide to live within the same 10 blocks of each other at all times? Do they do it just so they can be close enough to one another to share jeggings and hair care tips? I love the looks on everyone’s gorgeous and well-maintained faces when we pull up in our huge tour van and the door swings open to let loose a pile of degenerate Canadian degenerate slobs.

When we are driving through an area highly populated by the genetically advantaged, like all groups of men in each other’s company, we always start yelling the vilest shit. The kind of irredeemable comments that would make you lose your job mopping up a porno theatre. This is particularly so when the windows are rolled up and everyone is in a good mood. It’s kind of just what guys do, because deep down, all men are monsters. My favourite moment is when someone in the van sees a pair of nice legs further down the road and comments on them, only for them to turn out to be that of a man, or worse: it’s a girl that’s way too young. That’s an awkward moment ain’t it? “Dudes look at that girl all the way down the street at the cross walk. That chicks a 10!” “Bro, I’m pretty sure she IS 10.” Good from far, far from good.

Fatality Checks In With New Road Report

Toronto’s thrash party monsters Fatality are currently on the two-month North American “Towards Disastour” in support of latest album, "Psychonaut."

Vocalist Spencer Le Von checks in again, this time telling us all about reuniting with California’s Zombie Holocaust. Excerpts are available below, or you can check out the full road report via Dead Rhetoric here.

"After our gig in Pensacola, we had a good long drive ahead of us. We were to drive into Houston and pick up our friends in ZH [Zombie Holocaust] the following morning around 11AM because they were to join us in our tour van and play gigs with us for the next 3 weeks (that’s right, 10 dudes in an 11 seat van). They were taking a two day bus ride from sunny California to Texas and that meant in order to meet them at the Greyhound station, we would have to drive all night long to prepare for our gig at the White Swan. We fueled up with some pancakes and hit the Florida highway at around 4AM.

"Night drives are absolutely horrendous and I hate them like I hate being stabbed in the ass with the butt-end of a goalie stick. First of all, it is very uncomfortable to drive while you are tired but it’s also near impossible to get any rest in the bench seats while the tour van cascades towards its destination in the dead of night. So you are damned either way. We made it into town and illegally parked in a lot next to the Houston Greyhound station and waited in red-eyed anticipation in the mid-afternoon sun for our California rock star buddies to pull into town.

"I was relieved when they arrived and looked even worse than we did. They had a dreadful and uncomfortable 48 hours in a bus, all with different sets of stories including almost getting kicked off mid trip with all of their gear on the side of the road. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in 2 years, everyone was dead tired and a little dazed from exhaustion. We went for burritos and blinked at each other in restive stillness for 3 or 4 hours until we were set to play. Despite the mutual fatigue, we both played crushing sets to an enthusiastic crowd of young headbangers. The crowd was so rowdy that a fight even broke out during one of the sets." More...

Fatality Checks In From The "Towards Disastour"

Toronto’s thrash party monsters Fatality are currently on a two-month North American “Towards Disastour” in support of latest album, "Psychonaut."

Now vocalist Spencer Le Von checks in from the road to share Fatality's debauchery and mayhem filled nights in Florida. Excerpts from the road report are available below, or you can read the full report at DeadRhetoric.com.

On this tour we played a handful of dates in Florida, but the one town that stands out in my mind is when we spent a couple days and debauchery-soaked nights living within the depths of chaos and depravity in a bar called the 321 Local in Cocoa Beach. It all started when we pulled into town the night before our gig. We had nothing to do, and nowhere to go. So we decided to go to the venue we were going to play the following night and start our night that way. To kick things off, we had ourselves a tailgate party complete with beer, BBQ grilling and George Thorogood cranking on the stereo in the parking lot of a Baptist church around the corner.

We went in to check out the bar and met the owner Kevin and the booker David. We had nowhere to sleep and couldn’t afford a hotel, so the owner of the club offered for us to just party all night long and fall asleep on the floor of the bar. We heartily obliged. The next few hours are a blur of air drumming and table dancing until late the following morning.

Pit Stories: The Tighty-Whitey Mosh

It's Tuesday again, which means we've got a new metal show story taken from the underground musicians themselves who keep the scene running. This week guitarist/vocalist Spencer Le Von from Canadian thrash act Fatality shares the following tale of the band's first show going horribly wrong:

My pit story was actually from Fatality’s first-ever live show when I was at the supple age of 15. We were performing at a dive called Club Rockit in Downtown Toronto back in 2004. I will never forget this story because it incorporates all of the elements that make up a nightmare gig, and how I handled it as a confused 15-year-old zilch. First of all, it was in the middle of January, and there was a massive storm that hit Toronto and we barely made it to the gig as we slid up and down the highway. Also, right before we hit the stage, I opened my guitar case and to my complete chagrin: my fuckin’ ax was smashed in 2 pieces.

So, up we went. There was me with no guitar and no sense of what to do with my hands as I clumsily sang through our songs like a mush-mouthed buffoon. Boy, we (I) stank up the joint good. As we got closer to the end of the set, I realized I had a decision to make: play out the last of our songs half heartedly, and then pack up and go home for a good cry, or do something so fuckin’ stupid that even though we were playing mediocre at best, the crowd would still go home and remember us. I chose the latter. In one foul swoop, I pulled of my pants and shirt reveling a tainted, ripe, skid-marked pair of tighty-whities and a matching pasty white stomach. I then proceeded to jump into the mosh pit and clobbered the shit out of people as my band riffed on the stage above.

It was this night that I learned a major lesson. There is no such thing as the perfect gig, and each night has a different obstacle to overcome. What makes a good performer is not just in how well he can play; it’s all in his capacity to deal with the bullshit!

A photo of the event in question can be seen below. To hear Fatality's music, check out the "Monstrous" music video at this location or head over to the band's Facebook profile here.

Check back in again next Tuesday for more Pit Stories from metal bands. More...
